  6. I too work in the Medical field, I've worked nights for the better part of 15 years, Youll get used to it working 12 and getting up and jumping and then going back to work is rough, but I'm sure the call to skydive will out weigh your need for sleep :) Just make sure you have enough rest before your shift. Alot of times I would go in the mornings after I got off, make a jump or 3 and then head home to take a nap before work so I was somewhat rested. Have fun
  7. for coach rating? Most evaluators charge per person depending on the size of the class. When I went through, Don Yarling (RIP) charged 200.00 PP there were 5 people in my class. Plus slots for the eval jumps.
  8. I dont know how far you want to push the issue, but druging someones drink in the state of florida is a criminal offense. I'm glad you are ok

  16. This topic come up often. It depends on what DZ you are at the order in which you will exit. Some places put the freeflyers out before the flat flyers some put them out before. Arguements for both opinions vary.
  17. Depends on what you want to spend, do you want 35 mm or digital? Are you going to shoot formations from the ground or are you going to shoot people landing? That being said if it was me and money being a consideration I would go with the digital rebel XT about 900.00 US. As for lenses, for shots of people landing I would probably go with something like a 28 to 105mm. Quantary makes an okay lens at that length for about 150. Quantary also makes a fairly good 70-300 lens for about 170.00. Those two lenses will give you a pretty good range for shooting the ground stuff at a reasonable price. Granted there not the top of the line 500.00 to 1000.00 ++ dollar lenses but unless your shooting professional grade stuff thats getting published why spend alot of money? If you cant afford a high priced digital camera, Cannon also makes a good line of 35 mm cameras that will work well for you. I started with the 35 mm cannon. I shoot landings, tandem photos and formation loads eventually I moved up to the digital rebel and next week Im going to up grade to a rebel XT for freefall photography I use anything between a 15mm and a 28mm depending on what Im shooting. On the ground I use the lenses I described above. The combination has proved to work well for me so far. good luck

  21. Hey gang. Don't forget, Skydive Palaka was recently purchased by Art Schaffer. Art and the rest of the staff at skydive Palatka has done ALOT to help our DZ grow. As many of you know Platka still has the cessna but Art has also managed to bring in a Caravan. Skydive Plataka is a great drop zone. The people are friendly, the landing area is HUGE, and the AFF and tandem instructors are first rate. Check out the web page, which is in the process of being updated constantly www.skydivepalatka.com. If you are tired of the same old crap and attitudes at the dropzone you are currently skydiving, why not start the new year out right with a new home DZ? Skydive Palatka will be jumping all day new years eve and into the night with NIGHT JUMPS!!! come on out meet some new people and have some fun. For the regulars at Palatka, drag your slack butts out and SKYDIVE!!
  22. stay where you are at, the pay here in Florida sucks and jobs aren't the easiest to find. Unless you have a stash of extra cash someplace to get you through the tough times, IMHO you are better off staying where you are, getting your jump numbers way up, then getting your tandem ratings and AFF ratings when you are ready. It doesn't sound like you are; but, Don't expect to walk into a full time slot doing tandems in Florida. Since most DZs down here run year around the tandem masters slots don't open very often. Although it may suck and may not be much fun, stick with what you have right now, once you have the experience to get your AFF ratings and your Tandem ratings get them under your belt. Then if you decide you want to seek your living in the sport get a slot somewhere and go for it. Good luck .02 dropped
  23. It doesn't bother me. I guess part of it is because I work in the medical field but even before that it was never really a big deal body parts are body parts and the anatomy and physiology of the body is pretty interesting especally when you really start to learn how and why it works.
  24. Chris, Im not sure why you are enduring this, but I am sorry. You are in my thoughts and Prayers. My you be healed
