anyone have "shake" issues with the cx100 video?
freefalle replied to freefalle's topic in Photography and Video
I mounted my cx 100 I'm happy with the mount it's secure. I there is no play in the mount. I took it up on a sit fly fun jump today, I played the video when I got home and it appears "shaky" I'll be the first to admit I am still learning when it comes to using this camera and its settings, although I am fairly sure I had it set as described by people on here. I'm frustrated is anyone else having a problem like this or any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?? Thanks. Chuck -
where exactly in the "south" are you?? Chuck

I think I would have no problem appologizing and refunding the full cost but they wouldn't leave with any of the video or stills either. EXACTLY!

well, I'm not a lawyer but I would believe the following questions would have to be answered and although Im sure most of your answers would be yes I'll ask them any way 1. can you prove the photo is yours 2. can you prove that the photo was for sale and not freely available to the public 3. can you prove who stole the photo 4. can you prove that the person who is responsible for the web site it appears on: a) knew the photo was stolen and/or B) was the person who stole the photo 5. Can you prove that the person who stole the photo deprived you of its use and the ability to make income from the photo I don't know if photo's placed on a web site are considered physical or intellectual property. If its legally considered physical property and you can prove that the item was stolen than its a criminal matter I don't know if theft of intellectual property is a criminal matter I would "THINK" that the long and short of it is this, you are probably never going to "prove" who physically stole the photo therefore holding a single person accountable for the theft is going to be difficult at best. That being said, I believe at the minimum if I could prove that a photo I took and had for sale was being used without my consent or that I had not been compensated, I believe that I would send a certified letter to the business listed on the web site that the photo appeared illegally, demanding compensation or immediate removal of the photo from their site. I may also try to a letter to the web developer and the company who host the web page as well just for the sake of completion. After the owner of the web site where the photo appears is served with proof that they are in possession of stolen property, if they refuse to remove it from their site of compensate me the asking price for the photo, I would forward everything to my lawyer and litigate the matter. Our work is our work, and we deserve to be paid for it. People think that its okay to steel your work, thats crap. It rakes my nerves when someone says "hey can you email me that photo or photos from that skydive" without even offering to pay for it or your jump or something. It really pisses me of to hear a company would steel your work... let me know what you decide to do, Im curious to see how this one plays out. People think because you are their "friend" you will give them your work for free. Most of them are "friends" with their packer too, tell them to go ask the packer for free pack jobs because ya know after all they are "friends" see how that shit works out..... Chuck B

So, I mounted my cx100 on my ftp using a skysystems quadlock http://skysystemsltd.com/accessories/quik_quad.html I really wasn't too sure how I felt about this mount, it seemed like there was a little bit of play between the mounting plate and the base. I mounted it yesterday and put a jump on it today. As I thought the video was shaky so I removed the mount and put a velcro strap under the base. The velcro strap seems to work great to keep the camera from shaking. Rain moved in and I didn't get to jump again today so I'll try it again tomorrow but I think its going to work just fine. The video on this camera although shaky was amazingly clear I think I am going to be very happy with it. Chuck

I tried to click on project click on import avchd camcorder a box comes up that says import from avchd camcorder source (f) the cx100 is connected I click on ok a box comes up that says an error occurred while opening one or more files. The file is most like corrupted or of an unknown format. I have skype, I use it a lot when Im at home, I use it instead of my cell phone to make calls I think I pay 8 dollars for three months and have unlimited calling to phones in the US most people I call have no problem hearing me nor I them. The only time Ive ever had a probelm is when Ive called 800 numbers for tech support or other things skype hasnt worked well but other than that I love it. I cut my cell phone bill greatly. I've used the video conference feature a couple of times its works well too

Do i need IS in a Canon Rebel XS/1000D??
freefalle replied to MacTim's topic in Photography and Video
I personally don't think IS is something you NEED. IS is great in low light conditions. However, I don't think its necessary for "everyday" skydiving where you have a good source of light. I'm sure some of the other guys will comment here as well but thats where I'm at with it.. Chuck -
I just picked up a cx100 at best buy on sale for 499.00 Im working on getting the rest of the odds and ends together to get it mounted on my ftp hopefully I'll have it in the air soon. Looks to be an improvement from what I've got on my head now. Much lighter. Chuck

ah ok cool.

I'm sorry, I am behind on some of my reading. Whats the reason for doing this? does it make the lens work better? Thanks Chuck
-
yea the 5d mkii is a great camera, I'd love to own one but at that price its tough to afford. I'm looking to do more with my photography than skydiving, I've started doing more portrait work and I'm doing a wedding soon. That's why I'm considering the 50D I think I'm going to pick one up and get some new lenses.

Florida does not have a max. age for applicants. I was a Police Officer in Daytona Beach up until the time I graduated nursing school. I went to the academy with a guy who was in his 50's he had a job offer before we graduated. It just depends on the department and if you can pass their physical assessment. I'd say go for it, if its what you want to do. Most departments in Florida pay crap but it is what it is. Let me know if you have any more questions. Chuck

anyone use this one? hows it compare to the 500D is it worth the extra cash?? thanks Chuck
-
Leaving it in increases the risk for infection, allow your body to heal from the injury and then if necessary have it repierced. although it is just a small opening, reinserting anything in there :can: introduce bacteria into your bloodstream.... worse case situation, yes. but still possible...
