  1. "What would you do if you woke up on election day and went to your polling station and found no one there to record your vote? " Call the UN. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 2. What a pair of retards, in a building full of sharp blades, portable power tools, and other suitable weapons, they go at it with 2x4s (any idiot knows a 2x2 makes a much better assault weapon). -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 3. Someone else said it, but thats capitalism baby. Its what you sign up for when you vote. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  4. Cool, I had visions of a couple of reels of cable and a few busted cards lying in the back of the truck. I guess you can justify your big assed truck then.
  5. "What major industry do we need from you?" Thats not how boycotting stuff works, your thinking of embargoes and trade sanctions, its what we might stop buying from you guys and source from more environmentally friendly countries. As is our right under a free market economy. The consumer pressure brought to bear on South Africa during the apartheid era, for example, severely isolated that country in trade terms. Thats at a personal level, at an official level, US imports might attract a carbon tax, which would be levied on all US imports to the UK, making US goods even less attractive. Your balance of trade is currently in the shit, you guys are importing more than you are exporting and have been for a few years. Something like this would hurt it even more, resulting in further devaluation of the dollar, and increased interest rates in the US. What cost then to be a little more environmentally responsible? No malice, just following through a fictional scenario, I currently spend more time earning loot for US shareholders (Exxon- Mobil, Chevron -Texaco etc) than I do for my British, Khazak, or Canadian clients. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 6. Shush now John, Hartlepool is famous for monkey hanging, Port Glasgow is famous for... well its not. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 7. "bump my MPG up to 45 MPG but I need this big-assed Durango to haul my equipment around for work." As a network geek, what sort of heavy equipment are you hauling around? You'll get decent 45-mpg ish from a big assed diesel station wagon, or even a diesel truck. To the thread in general, bear in mind that the dollar has fallen against foreign currency, so the effective price per barrel at a foreign market is bound to go up... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 9. Strange people in Hartlepool, they hang monkeys there for spying....... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

"I would still vote for him over everyone's favorite socialist, " Don't you go giving us real socialists a bad name ..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 11. "I can't be the only near 30 year old who gets excited about cereals aimed at kids," Hehehe, I deliberately make a point of selecting brekkie based on the freebies. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 12. "We're right, you're left...aka wrong. (its a joke folks, move along)." Made me giggle, not nearly enough humour round here recently. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 13. Hey, I'm an optimistic idealist! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  14. I load my 170 at about 1.6, in fact, its probably the one that Dave has flown at about 1.6. Flies nicely, quite crisp and zippy, I don't swoop, but it can be fun, without being too serious. I feel I can put it down wherever I want in terms of accuracy, awkward out landings etc, and have put it down cross and down wind, with reasonable results, just a little less dignified than my usual arrivals.
  15. They are going to tell you to get a little more experience before strapping the snagger onto the noggin. Chaos does not respect the purpose of the filming, merely the opportunity to catch you out. Lecture over.
  16. Okay, set aside the republican/democrat thing for just a minute and humour me with this. The point I'm trying to make is, the people who wish to attack USA don't particularly care about the incumbent's political flavour. All they see is a 'Great Satan' or whatever other name they choose to villify you with. Dem, or Rep, are equally repulsive to someone who is prepared to take their own life destroying your freedom, or causing you discomfort. Anyone who thinks you make a more or less attractive target because the administration has simply changed in personality is deluding themselves. Its the institution they hate, not the individuals. Well thats the way I see it, as an outsider who despite minor criticisms, actually likes the majority of people who make up the great institution that is the USA. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 17. "Most places have a voluntary over 21 policy regarding alcohol, specifically shops and stores." ........ "Man, the more I read here, the more the British subjects seem eager to have government tell them what they may and may not do! " There's a huge clue in the word "voluntary". "Fuckin' terrifying that people can be so eager to be subjugated!" Are you now advocating that we don't change laws that don't work? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 18. Cool, today's prize of a brand new pull up goes to a Brit.
  19. Just an aside... USS Cole was attacked in 2000 if my memory serves me well. The next time you watch Silence of the Lambs, pay attention when Agent Starling looks up Lecter on the FBI's most wanted list website, right there in the centre of the screen is Osama bin Laden. The film was made in 1991. Food for thought? Okay aside over, as you were.
  20. A lot of that article makes sense Jimbo. "But many European diplomats say they are coming to the conclusion that Bush and Kerry are close on key international issues and that there would be substantial continuity between the administrations." I don't see a huge change on the cards if Kerry wins, "Meet the new Boss same as the old Boss", kind of thing in terms of foreign policy. At the end of the day, thats all we are really interested in, as ferriners. Your internal promises and policies are just fluff to us over here. The idea that US trrops will be replaced by European troops is risible at worst, imaginative at best, and probably unrealsitic in actuality. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 21. "The one thing we should never tolerate, ignore or give up on is someone who orchestrates an attack against the US. Capturing or killing him should be our highest military priority." Agreed, you guys need a head on a stick to begin healing from 9/11, I've said it all along. I am dismayed to find out how many people have stood trial and have been found guilty for their involvement in 9/11 though.... Any guesses out there as to exactly how many people have been on trial and are incarcerated for this attrocity? Anyone? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  22. "Yes, kyoto was a start, but at what cost to the US consumer or to US companies? Was the cost worth the outcome?" The US didn't sign up to Kyoto, Full stop. It didn't cost the US anything other than the expenses of the bureaucrats to attend the various summit meetings. "Is that why we pulled out?" I don't really know the real reason.. Cost? Bad science? Seemingly unfair? 'rich countries' were supposed to lead the way, with more lax restrictions on poorer countries. Politically bad timing? It would have meaqnt punitive taxation on fuel, which is not on your Boss's current agenda Any or all of the above.... Upshot is, no US support, Kyoto will probably fail. Lack of US support also meant that Russia wouldn't sign up to it. If they can't persuade the world's biggest producer of CO2 to signup, its not really worth pursueing. By the world's biggest producer, I'd just like to remind you that the US produces 25% of man-made CO2, with just 5% of the population. But thats not really as bad as it sounds......EG if you are say Switzerland with little or no heavy manufacturing, you simply ain't going to make that much CO2, even though you might use CO2 intensive products, imports etc. Kyoto had a CO2 emissions license bartering system, so Switzerland could trade their allowance of CO2 emissions with the country of origin for their imports, or simply go without those products. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 24. "Um, playing kinda fast and loose with the definition, eh nac?" Cambridge, http://dictionary.cambridge.org/define.asp?key=28083&dict=CALDnot mine, but like I said, I was avoiding the word, too many bad connotations. Rest easy, I have a busy day so won't be taunting you guys as much as usual. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
