"For those of you who get to travel around, what is your favorite DZ? Doesn't necessarily have to be your home DZ either!" Good Scenery:- Empuria Spain, Strathallan Scotland, Taupo New Zealand, Sebastian US. Good Parties:- Empuria, Langar UK, Hibble UK, Vichy France(its a boogie, so doesn't really count) Good people:- Spaceland (current home) Errol (old home), and just about wherever the prop is turning, when the surf is up. Still too many DZs not yet visited, not enough time.... D

"someone is lower and decides to track for not very long," It is accepted almost everywhere I have been, that if you are low on ANY type of medium to big way, you break early, and track long. Remember that most FF loads will break higher, around 5500 to 4500, this gives everyone the chance to track like hell. I've seen Zennie's break offs, and am more than happy to continue jumping with him, he is only on his back until he sees where everyone else is going (the move Zen described enables you to see who's above and immediately behind you whilst keeping an eye on the swarm), then as he described, barrell rolls into a fast/flat track. I try and perform the same procedure, but with less flair and panache... The very real danger of belly tracking out of a freefly is a corking issue, ie as you transition to a flat track, you will slow down dramatically, endangering anybody above you (and yourself), therefore the transition to track MUST be carefully considered. As a convert to the dark side, I see a lot of "cross polenation" (sp?), and common ground in safety procedures between the two disciplines. The same rules apply to RW and FF wrt going low, docking etc, ie Don't dock hard, slow is safe, and slow is fast. Don't dock from above. Don't dock from below. The danger zones on any formation load FF or RW are directly above, and below the formation. If you are not in, and not going to get in, as b/o approaches, turn and burn early. My two cents worth, D

Rabbitt was stoked, the final count was 27 hop n pop loads, in one day, which even beat his dad's all time record. Way cool. We topped off the day with a hit and chug comp, as soon as we started the chugging side, the sky split open in big blue bits....alas too late. Cya D

Also bear in mind we are trying to compare high quality trad snaps with high quality digital snaps. At say 4meg/pic, say half a dozen images, thats 24 meg of webspace per tandem job. Say 20 a weekend, and that server is gonna be hot hot hot, and not everyone has access to fast connections.....

Have you checked your slider grommets? If the slider is slamming down, they may have deformed unevenly. Just a thought..... D

Hmmm, hydraulic reefing....reliability issues spring to mind. I'm a big fan of the "keep it simple" philosophy.

Watch out, its a whuffoe conspiracy, leave the class immediately, take up engineering right now! Found this a while back..... SKYDIVING and the BRAIN People have always craved new and exciting experiences. The reason is that such experiences bring pleasure. And the feeling of pleasure is caused by activation of groups of nerve cells in certain parts of the brain. These nerve cells communicate with each other and with nerve cells in other brain regions by means of chemical messengers called "neurotransmitters" which transmit signals and activate nerve cells. The part of the brain which is activated by exciting experiences is the "limbic system", which is composed of the oldest part of the brain, "the rhinencephalon", the emotional part. SKYDIVING "kick-starts" this part of the brain activating the amygdala, which is concerned with emotional memories especially those arousing feelings of fear and avoidance, as well as the septal region and hypothalamus, "pleasure centers" of the brain. Activation of these regions by input from our bodies during the act of SKYDIVING causes nerve cells to release the neurotransmitters "seratonin and norepinephrine",which in turn activate other nerve cells locally and at a distance. The amount of seratonin and norepinephrine bathing nerve cells in different brain regions, regulate moods, from exhilaration to despair, from moment to moment, as well as over longer periods of time. Activation of these regions of the brain are responsible for the complex set of feelings we feel when we jump out of that airplane. by Denson G. Fujikawa, M.D.

I'm more interested in the "inherently safer" option of building a reserve to survive the high speed opening, and setting the Cypres higher. I appreciate it will take longer to deploy, but can't some proposal be made to the FAA to change their 3 seconds requirement? Surely the FAA have to re-assess their requirements to reflect the developments in our sport at some stage or another anyway..... Or maybe I am off on the wrong track here, just 'thinking out of the box'. Good thread though

Way to go Malachi. When I met my g/f I was heavily into climbing, ie every weekend I possibly could. Now I am heavily into skydiving, again every weekend I possibly can. My g/f was not into climbing, and she has only done one tandem and wasn't bitten by it. Cutaway? Not a chance, we have been together over ten years, and we have stuck together through thick and thin. If you are right together it will endure, regardless....Suzy respects my compulsive obsession and realises that she can't force me to give it up for her, just because she's not into into it.

No pictures, here's the text.. Groom Killed By Stripper's Boobs Wednesday January 16, 2002 GENEVA - A fun-filled bachelor party at a strip club turned deadly when a 32-year-old groom-to-be who was enjoying the attentions of a well-endowed stripper suffocated while his face was buried in her breasts. The mind-boggling drama unfolded, say cops, while Daniel Greene was attending his bachelor party at the Pretty Kitty strip club. The club had been rented out for the private affair. According to investigators, Greene was enjoying a lap dance when disaster struck: One of the strippers, Kandy Kane, got too into her performance and suffocated the man between her 72-DD breasts. Witnesses said that Greene had had his fair share of beer, but didn't seem out-of-control. When the song "I'm Too Sexy" began to play, Greene became excited and began to dance on the tabletop, hooting and hollering, pals said, "like an idiot." Miss Kane, apparently pleased to see someone enjoying her choice in music, moved in closer. When Greene took his seat, she began giving him a lap dance, shaking her breasts in his face. The more she shook, the deeper Greene got lost in her cleavage. "Daniel was having so much fun," partygoer John Gillman said. "We all thought he loved being in that gal's chest. "Who could have known that when he was waving his hands around, he was signaling for help?" Cheering onlookers eventually realized that Greene was no longer moving, and pulled him from between Miss Kane's breasts. Now Greene's family is suing Miss Kane and the Pretty Kitty for wrongful death. Greene's father, George, won't specify the amount they are suing for, but claims that it isn't about the money. "Those breasts were lethal weapons," he told reporters. "The Pretty Kitty should not have allowed Miss Kane to have her bust enhanced to the size that she did. "We hope that by filing this lawsuit, we can send a message to other strippers: keep your bra size within a reasonable range." Kandy Kane made a statement through her attorneys: "I thought he liked it in there. " The Pretty Kitty declined comment.

Oh no, I just an incredibly detailed visualisation (damn you Dr John R...) Skydiving muppets.... The pigs in space are at the controls of the Otter, on jump run. Miss Piggy centre floats (looking hot in her tight RW suit, no lead for this babe) and launches a sweet donut, with her 4-way team "Hairspeed". "Whyboyz" Kermit and Animal hi 5, do some secret handshakes then exit in a head down flower. Fozzy tightens up the straps on his tandem passenger and reassures her, then frontloops out the door....Gonzo batwings off the Otter straight into head down to catch the tandem on video.... The old guys don their ratty old rigs, and pop out for some hot Crw action. Meanwhile Beaker keeps em all flying by running the packing shed with his ususal panache, flair and style, while discussing down sizing with the ST&A Dr Bunsen Honeydew . Gawd its been a long week Cya D -

"Damn, those Aggies are quick " Don''t often hear that phrase in Texas -
Paula has it right, even if she doesn't want to jump, you should bring her along to the DZ anyway, mebbe she will realise that safety is important to us and we don't have a death wish after all... Ah there ya go, there is nothing for a ground bound girlie to do at Auchterarder, apart from sit in the Star and get drunk and worry about you. Try out Erroll or St Andrews, that way she can nip into town for some girlie retail therapy, golfing, or visiting other local distractions (Yeah I know, there are very few attractions in Dundee ) while you jump your ass off. Don't get me wrong, Strath is a lovely DZ, probably one of the most scenic in the UK, but its a wee bit out in the middle of nowhere. St Andrews definitely caters better for 'observers', girlfriends, whuffoes and the like, it has nicer club rooms for chilling out and watching TV etc, and a fairly decent canteen, Trish would surely look after her for you.....And basically distract her while you continue your plummetting. Och aye skies, big wheechs, Cya D
