If the posts top out at 60,000 this weekend, does HH buy us all beer? Or does he just get a virtual pie....

There are loads of cool things about his type of software, it took me nearly a year to fully master Premiere.....

One of my favourite pranks when I was but a lad, getting beat on by my bullying boss at the time, was to sign him up for various readers digest (and similar) 'free trial' things. Once you are their data base, its really hard to stop the junk mail, hehehe. Cya D

Excellent dude, tell us all about it over a beer at the DZ...

"Chums" AKA croakies, a liitle bit of fabric that fits over the legs and fastens round your head, they have adjustable sliders to tighten them up. Secret to not fogging is not keep your goggles clean and dry, so on jump run, don't fasten them on till the very last minute. Blue skies, if you can see them... D

C'mon folks, don't go copying skydiving films, here's why:- These guys earn their keep from producing films like this, you are robbing them of their income. You are ripping off a fellow skydiver, and that just ain't right. Widespread bootlegging will inevitably endanger future film production. Patrick, Norman, et al, spend a lot of effort ensuring that the films are high quality , eg filming on 16mm etc. If you make a copy, you get a shitty version, thus reducing your enjoyment. Its illegal, but hey, who doesn't break the law from time to time. Now, I'm not saying that I'm whiter than white on this subject, but at least don't go advocating bootlegging on a public forum. Thats it, 'nuff said, cya D

Alan, send me the PDF and I'll see if I can convert it to Word. Or at least do most of the donkey work for you.......

Try and stay relative, IE if your buddy is going low, go with them. Its all about anticipating their movement, and correcting before you have a lot of sky to cover. Easy on 2 ways, harder as the load gets bigger. If they are sliding under you, I used to push my heels up to my lardy ass, and sort of push my hands out in front. This makes me backslide like a bitch and also tips me up so I can keep em in view, also helps protect your face and handles if you are gonna end up all over each other. Of course, this was a while ago for me, as I've since ripped the grippers off my RW suits and discovered true 3D flying......on the dark side.

Hey Marcin, Nope. blacking the tape shouldn't have any effect on sound recording whatsoever. Premiere is arguably the most popular 'prosumer' level software, I've tried a demo version of MSP6 and didn't like it as I was already working fluidly with Premiere. Boris works with my copy just fine, i love playing with the cubes, and spheres. You can download a free 30 day trial version here.... http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/demoreg.html Premiere certainly lets me move any amount of clips around, no problems at all, with a click of one 'tool'. Its called 'insert editing' and I'm pretty sure Ulead will have this function as its a pretty basic requirement for non linear editing.

Come down to Saceland anyway sat nite, freefly seminar.

"they recommend mounting it on your ankle" Yeah, this part of the manual and the design of the device got me thinking..... Fat lot of use down there, never hear it. So why don't they put a port on it that you could plug an ear piece into, run the cable up inside your suit etc etc..... I figure most people buy a Pro Track as an audible first and its 'flight recorder' is merely a nice to have. I appreciate that hard core speed racers have to have accurate data, but don't we all as we scream past the yellow and into the red.... just some of my lunch time ramblings....

">At the end of the day, its only marginally more complex than swooping and docking on an RW load. Except that - " Bill, points taken, however I meant to imply that this would be the expected skill level required to fly with a tandem. Of course there are other safety considerations, which is why I also suggested speaking with the TM, and camera flier... sorry if this wasn't clear... Believe it or not, when I first started filming tandems, as a 200 jump wonder, I got very little in the way of a pre-brief or advice from the resident camera flier, or the tandem master around at that time. Both these guys knew my experience level at the time, so they should have known better. In retrospect this was very bad, but I was ignorant, young, and enthusiastic, nowadays, I'm not so young, still learning heaps, and fortunately still as enthusiastic.. And we didn't have forums like this one way back then.....

Agreed, Ulead Media studio plus is good to get you going. Add big hard drive, around 20-60 gig to Dave's list. If the computer already has firewire, check out Maxtor external units. A great resource is www.computervideo.net they have a good forum board that will keep you straight. happy editing. Dave

Oh yeah, agreed, but the skills required are roughly equivalent. Then again, funnelling a big way close to break off can be pretty serious....

Aha... Not a Pogue then, Irish band, real ugly muthas, from Pogue ma hone (kiss my ass) Cheers dude...

"You guys could bore the shit out of a monk! " Or...Talk a glass eye to sleep

Not sure about regs in the US, but yup, talk it thru with the the tandem master and DZO /ST&A, another good idea would be to get a regular tandem camera person to brief you on things to watch out for. The way a tandem deploys can give you surprises if you ain't ready for it, and there are some definite no-nos, such as docking on the TM, getting on their burble, snagging the drogue, etc.... If you are low time experience and you've never jumped with a tandem before, definitely do a few practice jumps with other tandems (prior to jumping with your friends, it can be a bytch matching fall rates etc....At the end of the day, its only marginally more complex than swooping and docking on an RW load. Be sure to get cool photos and video..... D

"I think safety is all about avoiding dangerous situations. " 100% correct, IMHO, we apply the same principles in my proffession (safety engineer for oil, petrochemical, mining, and power generation industries). D
