would you define this as a "modified tricell" brcng ?? I don't know. If modified means some of the cells are braced then yes. If it means something else, then I don't know. But it appears to show that it is 3 rather than 5 "cell" bracing Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

In what way did I leap to anyone's defence? You were the only one who claimed that someone would need a sense of humour to appreciate your post. I'm British. I thought I had a pretty decent sense of humour. I am genuinely intrigued as to where the humour lies. Please enlighten me. Please don't assume to answer for me. Yeah, right! Willem and I have a checkered past; you should do your homework! You see, we do agree! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

You bought a canopy before demoing it or reading any reviews? Edit: I did about 5 jumps on a 99. It's openings were more precise than my Crossfire2 109, but I think that is because it is a bit faster. I thought it had a lot of oversteer. I found the riser pressure to be greater than me Crossfire2 or the Katana 107 that I have jumped. I'd have to do more jumps on it to know whether the oversteer or the riser pressure would discourage me from buying one. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Portable wind tunnel - Central London - 26th/27th October
cpoxon replied to cpoxon's topic in Wind Tunnels
Popped down again this lunchtime. Didn't see any whuffos but did see the rats doing their show, which resembled the one the put on at the Winter Olympics closing ceremony. There was flying with tubes (white ones with the Radox sponsor's logo on it) and the guy was on his snowboard again (impressive, although he was a bit wobbly when trying to grab an edge), sit-flying, and something new was flying amongst four coloured anchored tubes (must be good for reference but quite distracting!). Portable wind tunnel - Central London - 26th/27th October
cpoxon replied to cpoxon's topic in Wind Tunnels
I popped down today about 1ish and bumped into Rich No need to repeat what the others said about booking. However, I've only seen "proper" (Skyventure(s), Bedford) tunnels before and can't say I'm too impressed by the older style. The wind speed appears quite low and everyone is wearing very baggy suits. The whuffos appeared to have no problem standing up in the airflow. The guys have an interesting technique for spotting the students; they stand up in front of them and hold onto their hands. Since the whuffos have little experience, they tend to have fairly flat body positions and when they rise up, the spotter below them by the nature of hanging on to them, causes their arms to drop and they dearch. Quite often, the whuffo then pivots over the top of the spotter! It seems to be a technique of the spotters to force the whuffo to tumble and drop rather than risk them getting away from them? Due to the airflow and lack of any barriers, I guess it is difficult/dangerous to do an AFF style sidebody grip so I don't know what the solution would be, but is this all pretty standard for this style of tunnel? The flying area is quite elevated and not open to the public so it is difficult to see how much dead space there is between the airflow and the cushioning (and beyond) but I could quite easily imagine someone getting out and over it. Is this unreasonable? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live -

What's your point Chris? Are you seeking to confirm that they are indeed sponsored by their government and find out more about the team in general or are you making a political statement about the country (in that case, might be better in Speaker's Corner)? That's the nub. Setting what is appropriate is a tough call and it will be neigh on impossible to please everyone. Nothing should be banned, but there should be progression in everything. It is difficult to verify people's qualifications, so all you can do is have participants declare that they have reached minimums before they try something at the next level, to ensure they are not biting off more than they can chew. You yourself say you want Bridge Day to be as safe as possible, so in a sensitive and public environment, it is not the place for people to be doing their first 4-way when they've only done solo's before. If people deceive you then that is their look out; all you can do is lay down the requirements and have people agree and accept those requirements. I don't want to see it fade out due to being underregulated. I think having a helmet rule is the absolute minimum thing you can do to demonstrate to the powers that be that you are striving for safety. It's a very easy win. But then again, I come from a nanny-state, where I have little choice when it comes to such matters, although I still chose to wear when even when I don't have to. Is it about the individuals or is it about the event? As I understand it, people have to submit themselves to security checks to take part in Bridge Day so they are already trading personal freedoms to do so. Again, it's down to the line, and where it is drawn. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

That depends. First I would be questioning that persons experience. 876 ft is not the most ideal height for a first time wingsuit BASE jump. (I'm not saying that it was the person in question's first wingsuit BASE jump, but a hypothetical person) What if that person had never made a wingsuit skydive before? What if the person had never made a BASE jump before? You'd hope that person would have enough common sense or peers around them to prevent that from happening, but what if they don't? Fair enough if it's in the middle of the night, out of sight, but not if it's a public spectacle. It may be an unregulated sport but Bridge Day is not an unregulated event. A line had been drawn. I think that line needs to be moved. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
