Last time a similar discussion on this topic came up here, I was shocked to find out that there are several people who are actually offended by Chivalrous Gestures. However in this case, I fail to see the correlation between "checking out some guy's girlfriend" and Him being Chivalrous. No connection at all. I would not expect some one who actually got upset by someone else looking at his girlfriend to be the type who would open doors for ladies.

I generally get tapped to organize the bachelor party whenever one of my friends is getting married. I have put together several and we always follow the same rules. 1. The Bachelor does not know anything about the party other than the date/dates for the event and whether or not they need a passport. 2. The party should be held as far away from home as possible. 3. The only rule for the Groom to be is "No part of his anatomy shall enter any part of any other person’s anatomy". Other than that, it all fair game. 4. There will be at least one Major prank played on the Groom to be. Last time we got some Blue Medical Dye and dyed his balls blue after he passed out. 5. Because these Parties are usually over a 4 day weekend, they usually center on other activities than just Strippers. This is the groom’s last big party with the guys; it is our obligation to make sure that he enjoys it. 6. The day of the wedding, the participants of the bachelor Party offer the Groom to be one last opportunity to escape. We give them an Envelope with $1000 cash and Voucher for a one-way ticket to anywhere Delta Flies. No one has accepted yet.

Hello, My Name is J, and I Learned that flaring your Canopy is a Good Idea. Yep I F*CKed up this weekend too. On Sunday, Coming in on Final at about 15 to 20 feet I hit Turbulence. It felt like I just fell through a Trap Door. I did attempt to PLF and just started to Flare about the time my Knees Hit. Nothing Broken but There are a few Vertebrae in my back that definitely do not like being this close to each other and are letting me know about their displeasure. Basically I feel like someone hit me in the back with a baseball Bat. Called in sick to work today for the first time in two years cause things like Breathing hurts however I do think I have discovered the right combination of Pain pills, Muscle Relaxers and Beer to make things good again. Stupid Hurts in this sport. Lesson Learned.. Next time instead of thinking Oh Shit This is going to Hurt, Think Oh Shit Flare NOW!!!

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Jake: Hit it. King Louis XVI: It's good to be the king! Worm: She's really got him by the balls. Petra: That's not so bad, is it? Worm: It depends on the grip! WORM: Just like the sayings says, you know?. In the poker game of life, women are the rake. They are the fuckin' rake. MIKE: What the fuck are you talkin' about? What-what saying? WORM: Well I don't know. There oughtta be one

Almost every one of the fights you mentioned was at Middleweight or Super Middle and happened over 8 years ago. I still think that he is the most over rated fighter in history. Look at the past 4 years.. Tarver - 2004 -He got KTFO`ed. Tarver 2003 - He got the gift decision. Ruiz - Gotta give credit where it due. He was great in this fight. Clinton Woods - A British Pub fighter and Recovering Alcoholic with No real Boxing Experience. RJJ still couldn't hurt him. He just danced around him until his corner threw in the towel. Who did he ever beat to deserve his shot? Glenn Kelly - The Australian Garbage Collector who never even tried to punch back. It still took RJJ 7 Rounds for RJJ to let the guy find the excuse he was looking for since the 2nd to lay down. Who did he ever beat to deserve his shot? Gonzeles - Mr. Excitement - Called this because he was know for getting up off the canvas to keep fighting. But RJJ seemed to have a real hard time putting him on the canvas unlike most of his previous opponents. How many times was he knocked down by Letterlough? 7 or 8 I beleive it was. Good thing there was no 3 knock down rule. Harmon - World class? No. Credible Opponent for the P4P King? NO. Can RJJ put this guy away? NO. His corner finally throws in the towel after 10 rounds. Harding: The only semi Credible Opponent RJJ has faced in YEARS and what does he do? He bitch slaps him in the arm for 10 rounds until his bicep separates. Is this way the P4P king should be taking out his Opponents? Hall: This would be the school Teacher, Right. Out of his 25 fights leading up to the RJJ Fight Only 3 of those fighters had winning records. RJJ still cant take the guy out until the 11th. Now to address the attacks on my original post in this thread. In the first post in this thread Tunaplanet asked: To which I replied: I did not expect to have to defend myself after making this statement. I was never claiming to be anything more that what I am, A HUGE Boxing fan that has tried to stay involved in the sport as much as possible. I will be more than happy to Scan my Coaches license and post a picture if you would like. I will also get pictures and Newspaper clippings from the 2001 Georgia Games if that would make you feel better. And while you attempt to belittle my accomplishments and mock my record, I will retrun to the subject at hand. And yes you are correct, My Brothers Gold at the Georgia Games was at 178 in the Novice division. It was indeed a typo. Several other typos in that post as well.

Trinidad is coming out of retirement in September to fight Mayorga. No tune up even, Right back in against the best fighter he could find. Trinidad’s first choice was Wright who had just beat Mosley, but Mosley chose to exercise his contractual right to a rematch with Wright therefore blocking the fight. Trinidad vs Mayorga will be one hell of a fight. Jones had planned on moving back up to Heavy to face Tyson and then retiring. Jones does not really need the money and may chose to go ahead and retire now before he gets hurt.

They both started Boxing at the same time. Tarver stayed in the amateurs allot longer trying for the prize that meant the most to him. Olympic Gold. Most Boxers would tell you that they would take an Olympic gold over a Professional Title any day. Titles come and go at the whim of the corrupt sanctioning bodies, but Olympic Gold is forever. Tarver has been around in Boxing just as long as Jones. Tarver has actually fought about 100 more fights than Jones because of the extra time he spent in the amateurs. Jones went pro earlier (after his 88 silver medal win, yes he deserved the gold and was indeed robbed in Korea). My entire point in this thread was that if you look at Jones a little closer and look at the lineage of the titles he held at light heavy and who he chose to defend those titles against you will see that maybe he didn’t really walk on water. Maybe he was not quite as “GREAT” as he was marketed to be. This has been debated over and over again by hardcore boxing fans over the years.
-
Tarver has been around as long as Jones. He just was not marketed as well. They are both from Florida, Both 35 and Both LOVE to talk shit. Tarver did wait to go Pro until after the 96 Olympics and that did get him a little later start than Jones. Tarver is one of the fighters that Jones spent years ducking. Tarver was supposed to get his shot at Jones in 2000 but Jones opted to fight another Civil Servant instead. In the past 6 Years, Who has Jones faced that was a credible opponent other than Ruiz? Yes, He Totally dominated everyone he faced but who were they? Fighters like DLH, Trinidad, Barrera, Pacquiao and Wright who will always look for the best Possible opponent, those are great Fighters. Jones spent way too much of his career hiding behind the Sanctioning Bodies and fighting bogus mandatory in defense of belts that were improperly striped from the real Champion at that time. But he was Marketed very well and you are correct, casual Boxing fans will continue to think he was Great even though he refused to face the best available competition and when he finally did, He came up short. I will say that Jones was the best at the business end of the sport ever. He has made over 100 Million and promoted his own fights so he got to keep most of that money. At 35 Years old, Neither of these fighters have many great fights left in them. Father Time eventually wins against all great Boxers. I hope they both call it quits before they fight one too many.

I thought you wanted a Boxing discussion. My Comments on Jones are NOT way off the mark, In fact I can back the up with FACTS. Jones Never won a Title from a Defending Legitimate CHAMPION at Lt. Heavy. Light Heavy 1. WBC - RJJ Won the VACANT Title from McCullum 2. WBA - RJJ Beat Lou del Valle for the Title that was stripped from DM. It was Del Valles first Defense of the title. He had just won the VACANT title against Smulders after it was stripped from DM. 3. IBF - Beat Reggie Johnson for the Title that had been stripped from DM. Johnson won this title from Guthrie who won the VACANT title against Darrin Allen (Who was 3-0 at the time. Who ever heard of a 3-0 guy getting a title shot?) after title was stripped from DM. RJJ Currently held 3 of the 4 major titles at light heavy. (WBC) was vacant when he won it. The other two (WBA, IBF) were stripped from DM and declared vacant. After collecting these VACANT Titles (That Rightfully belonged to the Legitimate Lineal Lt. Heavy Weight Champ Dariusz Michalczewski (DM) but were stripped by the corrupt sanctioning bodies because Jones was a Bigger name). Jones then did an excellent job of marketing himself as the UNDISPUTED Champion at Light Heavy. To this I say BULLSHIT!! Then he goes on to defend against An Australian Garbage Man/Sanitation Worker, An Elementary School Teacher and a NY Policeman who all of which had never faced even a single ranked opponent. All the while convincing casual Boxing fans that he was the greatest fighter ever. The step up to Heavy was a brilliant Marketing move but if you consider the competition, you will see that there was very little risk as Ruiz was a Chump with a belt. Tarver out boxed Jones last November and was robbed of the decision. Last night he took the decision out of the judge’s hands. Jones may be a Great Guy, But it is my opinion that he is the most over rated fighter in history. Nothing Personal against the guy, but he did duck the real Champ at Lt. Heavy while fighting tomato cans for several years. As to my credentials, USBA is the Unites States Amateur Boxing Association. I do hold a Coach License. I fought in the late-80`s and was 3-2. I had to quit after the second time my nose was broken and required surgery. My brother fought in 2001 and 2002. He was 7-0 with 5 RSC`s (Ref Stops Contest). He won the Georgia Games in 2001. Neither of us ever fought Pro. Funny, I never heard of you either.

Jones made a Career out of dodging fighters and hiding behind Corrupt Sanctioning Bodies. Yes he has fast hands and could dance around the ring. Against the 2nd and third rate fighters he fought, He did appear to be great. For 4 years he dodged Dariusz Michalczewski who was the Real Light Heavyweight Champion at the time. Instead he fought Part-time fighters claiming that they were mandatory. All the while defending Titles that were stripped from Dariusz Michalczewski for no good reason. His win against Ruiz was impressive but it was obvious that Ruiz was a Lumbering, Slow heavyweight that didn’t have any real power. Any smaller faster fighter would have an easy time with him. Most people feel that Tarver easily won their last fight on November 8 but was robbed by the judges. As Tarver so eloquently stated as Jones was still trying to get up off the canvas, “Judge That!!". I have never been so happy to watch a fighter get KTFO as I was last night (Except for maybe when Barrera Slapped Hamed around for 12 rounds a couple years ago.) You ask if there are any other Boxing Fans here? Boxing Fanatic would be a better description. I am a licensed USABA Coach and former boxer. 2 Years ago I trained and coached my younger brother to the Georgia state Championship in the Novice division at 175 lbs.

When using the Cypress Value Thingy to determine the value of a used Cypres, What value should you use for the New CYPRES Cost if you are looking at a Used Cypres 1? When the Cypres 1 was still available I thought it could be purchased for around $875 to $900, But now that all that is available is the Cypress 2 at $1,250 to $1,300 do you still use the $900 figure even though you can not really by a new one at that price any longer? What are the chances of still finding a NOS Cypres 1 from a dealer?

Where to go for scenic DZs on east coast?
Thanatos340 replied to tonyhathaway's topic in Events & Places to Jump
In GA you left out Georgia Skydiving Center in Rome - The most "Scenic" of all the Atlanta DZ`s in my opinion. Fantastic Views of the North Georgia Mountains. -
52.6 miles from Georgia Skydiving Center - Rome (Home DZ) 44 miles from Skydive the Farm - Cedartown Other nearby DZ`s... 42 miles from ASC - Cedartown 65 miles to Skydive Monroe 85 miles from SDA - Thomaston

As one of those who are anxiously awaiting a new Icon/Pilot/Smart, How long did it take from order to delivery. Are they making the 8 to 10 weeks delivery time?

A Couple other really interesting Sci-Fi books that deal with Military leadership are two short story collections: 1. There will be war - Edited by J. E. Pournelle A great collection of Sci-Fi short stories dealing with War and its consequence. (Enders Game first appeared in this book as a Novelette. Other writers in this collection include Spider Robinson, Poul Anderson, Phillip K. Dick, The master himself (Heinlein), Larry Niven and David Drake) 2. There wont be War - Edited by Harry Harrison. Another collection of short stories that deal with how war can be eliminated in the future. This book has some of the best short stories I have ever read. Writers include Asimov, Kim Stanley Robinson, Timothy Zahn, and Robert Sheckley.

???? Other BookS???? He only wrote one other Book and it had the same two protagonist (Felix and Jack Crow) in a different World "VAMPIRE$". And I thought it was almost as good as Armor. The Movie that John Carpenter made that was supposed to be based on this book was another travesty. He completely cut out most of the major characters and totally rewrote the story but the Book was great in my opinion.

The movie was originally scheduled to go into production last year but the Director put it off originally to work on a Batman vs Superman movie, Then he started a project on Troy. The movie is probably still at least a year away from starting production. Currently the two guys that did the screenplay for X-men are writing the second draft of the screenplay (The studio did not like Cards Screen Play). It appears that they plan on combining Enders game with Enders Shadow into one story. I am sure they will somehow try to turn this into a Love story and totally kill it. I also think they will have Teenagers in battle school instead of 6-9 year olds. This doesn’t sound promising. Hollywood has a bad habit of turning great Sci-Fi Books into Horrible B-Rate Movies. Look at a few examples: 1. Logan’s Run - In the original Book, 21 was the age that you died not 30. The characters were much weaker in the movie and it was made into more of a love story than a survival story. 2. Battleship Earth - Possibly the worst movie ever made but a fantastic book. 3.Starship Troopers - Fairly true to the book still fell so short of the Book. Many Characters were completely left out. It seems that "A Boy and his Dog" is the only Sci-fi Movie that really captured the essence of the book.

Like I said in the other post, If you like Enders game, you will love ARMOR by Steakly. My top 5 List in no particular order: 1. Anything by Heinlein (The cat who walks through walls, Friday, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, Time enough for Love, To sail beyond the sunset...) 2. Enders Game - Orson Scott Card 3. Armor - John Steakly 4. On a Pale Horse - Piers Anthony 5. Fool on the Hill - Matt Ruff (More Fantasy than Sci-Fi but a fantastic book!)
-
Enders Game is without question one of the best Sci-Fi Books ever written by someone not named Heinlein. I was however very disappointed in Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide. Completely different flavor. The new series focusing on Bean and the other kids from Enders team is much better. If you really liked Enders Game, you should also read ARMOR by John Steakly. Very similar in many ways with some great character development.

I am curious about the Manufacturing Process for new rigs. With some of the major manufacturers quoting a 10 to 20 weeks wait time for a new rig, I am curious why it takes so long? Are the rigs built one at a time or is there some assembly line process? Once an Order is received what happens next? Do they wait until they have several orders for the same color fabric and then cut all the pieces at once and then wait until the have all the components cut to start assembly or does the order sit somewhere until someone picks it up and they build it completely from scratch? Roughly how many Man-hours go into building a single rig? It would be great to hear from some of the manufacturers that post here about their process from order to completion. I know many may find this pointless but as an IE I am always interested in production process.

Should I sue/ What do you think?
Thanatos340 replied to dubbayab's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You may have all the answers you were looking for, but the rest of us are now left with lots of Questions that you have avoided and sidestepped. You implied that there a problem with the new rig your wife was jumping that the manufacturer was somehow responsible for. Please give the details of the problem and what you think cause these problems. If there was an Equipment problem that manufacturer was responsible for, those jumping the same equipment should be informed so that they can learn how they may be able to avoid a similar accident or if there is something that they should have checked out before they continue jumping. -
Should I sue/ What do you think?
Thanatos340 replied to dubbayab's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You need to give ALL the relevant information for others to come to an informed opinion. 1. What type malfunction did the main have? 2. What caused that malfunction? 3. What caused the 3-Ring Release to fail? 4. Was this in any way because of a Poor Design, Defective Materials or Shoddy Manufacturing? The only way that I think anyone should Sue would be in the event that it was CLEAR Gross Negligence on the part of the manufacturer. Even then it is questionable if there was anyway a proper gear inspection would have found the problem before the jump. Coming here and only giving part of the story and not identifying the equipment will only lead to poor speculation in the community and will not benefit anyone. You mention "A new manufacturer" and a 3 ring release that failed. I immediately think of one company that has a new design on their 3 rings that fits your description. Please clarify everything as much as possible to avoid this type of speculation. If there is a problem with a particular manufacturer, Please let everyone know.
