Reminds me of a similar mistake I once made. I was told that a good way to attract women was to go to the beach wearing only Speedo’s with a large potato stuffed in them. I wandered around for a few hours and Women seemed to avoid me more than usual. It was then that I realized the Potato was supposed to in front.

Warning!! Don’t use that line in Dive Bars around Atlanta!! You might catch something you cant get rid of!! Last Time I used that Line was 7 Years ago when a Hottie walked by wearing a pair of Black Leather Converse High tops. As of this morning, She still has not left and keeps bugging me about a Ring. The Radio stations Pay allot for the right to play those songs. So do Bars and Night Clubs. I worked my way through College DJ`ing various Strip Clubs around Atlanta . ASCAP and BMI and a few others sued several Clubs I worked at in the 80`s because they had not paid the fees for playing the music in their clubs. They all lost even though they had bought the CD`s they were playing. Every few months we would have to fill out a Form listing every song we played and submit it to the Agencies so they could distribute that payments to the Artists. Real Pain in the Ass for the DJ`s but no way around it. As for $17 for a CD with one good song.. Don’t buy that CD. It is up to you.

You do not "OWN" that music. Roger Waters (or whoever) does. You own a disc or Cassette that contains a recording of that music that was legally acquired. Now if you would like to transfer that recording to another format, it is up to the Owner of that Music if they will allow this. What is great about a capitalist society is that if they do not allow you to this, then you should definitely make sure that they do not get anymore of your business. If this truly upset you then don’t buy any more music in any format. If enough people do this, then the Owners will reconsider. It is all about supply and demand.

There was a Time when I believed that Theft was defined as taking something from some else then I now have it and they do not. To steal something meant that some "THING" had been taken and someone was deprived of something. Copying something in no way deprived anyone of any "thing" and/or took anything away from anyone. Now I work for a software company and have to deal with Licensing every day. My beliefs have changed. It is always amusing to try to explain to a customer that they did NOT buy the software; they just paid a fee for the right to use it.

Thanatos is from Greek Mythos. The Incarnation of Death. This mythos was greatly expanded/embellished in Incarnations of Immortality series of Books by Piers Anthony. I started using Thanatos as a Handle in mid 80`s while running Ground Zero (A Commodore based BBS). The name became more common over the years and almost every site I went to already had a Thanatos registered so I added the "340" to it as that is the engine in my Pro-Street Car.

Would the same hold true for a Brand new Rig? I recently discussed buying a Complete New Custom Rig from a Gear dealer and they said it would arrive Packed and ready to jump. (Unfortunately the sale ended before I got my order in so I am still looking). My first thought was WHY? There is no way I am jumping a new rig without having my Rigger do a Full inspection (Including the Reserve) first so I would still have to pay for a repack. Is this reasonable or do most people take a new rig out of the Box and Jump it since it was packed by the manufacturer?

At my DZ, The DZO does not Drink at all. So the "Beer" that he is owed is Ice Cream. He is also the Rigger so for a Save he gets a Gallon, preferably Moose Tracks Brand. For others that don’t drink it is also a courtesy to bring a 12 pack of Cokes or something so that everyone can participate in your "First" calibration. Many People can socialize and enjoy a few Beers without ever developing a problem. I see no reason to ban Beer Traditions because there are some who cannot. If you really are jumping at a place that asks you to leave if you are not drinking, then maybe you should look around for another DZ.

The bottom line for me is how a woman carries herself. A Picture can sometimes capture a certain attitude or look and Yes, I will Ogle. A girl with Mischievous Grin or Subtle Smirk will get my attention every time. And that good old "Catch Me - F*ck Me" look works real well as long it is not forced. However none of this will keep my interest for long if there is nothing behind it to back it up. Any girl that makes me laugh or smile even instantly catches my attention. Two things that make a girl instantly ugly in my eyes.. Pouty and/or Bitchy looks. I am too old to deal with those girls. Always more trouble than they are worth. It is all about Attitude.

Will you have Rental/Student Gear Available?

The DZ at Thomaston has a great reputation that makes it hard to believe they would do something like this. If everything is as you say it is, then you got screwed. They should atleast honor your rain checks. If not, I would be at the bank demanding to see a manager to see why they denied your charge back. It seems a clear case of paying for a service that was never received due to circumstances beyond control. But I would be willing to bet that Skydive Atlanta will make it right in the end.

A Couple of things do not sound right here.. 1. You are just now bringing this up AFTER the 60 day rain check has expired. 2. You mention $1000 for three Jumps? Was this an AFF first Jump course? Did you get the training and then not get to jump? That would explain the DZ not wanting to refund your money. They have already provided 6 to 8 hours of training. It would also explain the 60 day Expiration as you would have to be retrained agian. 3. You can ALWAYS dispute a charge on your credit card. You may not win the dispute, but you can always try. Unless you waited untill after 30 days after the charge to contact the credit card company. Nothing personal here, But try to look at this from both sides. They provided the training (My DZ charges a Flat $100 for the First Jump Course and then you pay for the actual Skydive) and should be paid for that. Now if you cant jump for some reason after that, Then I agree that they should give you a partial refund but you must pay for the training.

Just curious what most people consider to be the most important factor in choosing a Home DZ? I am sure that most would take all these factors into consideration, but which one would be the one that is most important to you.

Another one Bites the Dust!!

Laws vary from state to state but I have never heard of anything like that. In every state that I know of, Child support is based strictly on Income (In Georgia it is set between 17% to 23% of Gross income based on factors such as debt and established standard of living). Visitation is a separate issue completely. My Brother is going through the courts right now with visitation issues. In his case, he has full custody of his 2 daughters and the mother has not paid child support in over a year. She does not have a job so there are no wages to garnish. He has tried repeatedly to deny her visitation until she gets off her ass and gets a job. The courts say NO. Visitation and child support are completely separate issues in Georgia (and most other states). One definitely does not guarantee the other.

I was in this exact situation 12 years ago. I ended up going to a lawyer and filing a "Petition to legitimize" with the courts. When I went to before the judge, Visitation and Child support were set (Actually my ex and I had already worked up an agreement and the judge accepted it.) This made the agreement an enforceable court order. Without this you have absolutely NO RIGHTS AT ALL in most states. This cost me $500 in legal fees but that was 12 years ago so it may cost more now. Also I noticed people asking about Child Support. Child support and Visitation are not related in any way. If you miss a payment, she cannot withhold court ordered visitation. Also just because you are paying Child Support does not entitle you to any form of visitation unless it is court ordered. Get a Lawyer!! File a petition to legitimize and get a visitation agreement ordered by the courts. Do not let petty squabbles between you and your ex jeopardize your right to be a part of your Childs life.

I see this Forum just like a real Dropzone. Lost of people hanging out and BullSh*ting about whatever comes up. People who know each other and are comfortable around each other are entitled to give each other sh*t. People who do not know each other do NOT have the same right to rag on each other. Yes, this site is VERY cliquish, just like real Dropzones. If you are"IN" then you have more leeway than others (Welcome to LIFE!!). If you are brand new and/or don’t know all that many people and you start Insulting or Harassing others then you will probably not be welcome for long. If on the other hand, you are well known, Insulting and hassling your friends is no big deal (Actually almost expected at my DZ) as long as everyone can see that it all in Jest.

I don’t believe that it is Possible for someone to change deeply held Religious beliefs. If you did what they are asking and your heart was not completely behind it, it would be a disgrace and insulting to both Religions. You ask if this is typical of the Catholic Faith?? I think it is typical of most religious faiths. I know many Jewish Families that absolutely insist that family members marry other Jewish people and have seen families torn apart when one marries outside the faith. As for his Family insisting you change Faiths, Tell them to shove their Inquisition up their Ass. You cannot change what you believe in your heart to be true. Your religious beliefs are a part of who you are. Now if you and your Fiancé do truly have differing Religious Beliefs, It could cause problems in the Marriage later on and it is a good idea to discuss this now and completely understand (and respect) each others beliefs. How will you raise your children? What faith will you force on them? Will you have a Catholic Christening? Baptism (Catholic or Methodist)? Definitely spend a lot of time discussing these issues and others, but don’t let his family dictate what you can and cannot believe.

I have been looking around for a Used First Rig but the deal that Aerodyne is offering on a New Rig seems too good to pass up. I am considering taking the plunge and ordering one today before the sale ends. I was hoping to get some feedback here from those that have jumped the Icon and/or the Pilot. 1. What kind of resale will this Icon/Pilot/Smart combo have? Closer to a Javelin (High) or a Dolphin (low)? 2. How does the Pilot 188 compare to a Sabre 2 or Spectre 190? 3. I walk around at 165 lbs. Would a Pilot 188 be a reasonable first Canopy? 4. Smart Reserves? How do they compare to a PD Reserve? Positives? Negatives? 5. Any Negatives that I should consider about the Icon Container? 6. How is Aerodyne doing with meeting delivery dates? Sorry for so many questions. I know these are all question that I should be asking the vendor, But I wanted to hear what others had to say.

Dont forget to check out Rome also. About an hour north of Atlanta. Real friendly relaxed DZ. Beautiful Scenery, Great landing area, tons of outs and incredible people.

I was once held Prisoner of War in Connecticut for a year and was always thoroughly amused by Yankees who would ask me what "A Grit" was. I was still in High School at the time and actually had teachers get very upset with me for saying Mam and Sir, They felt I was being a smart-ass. In the deep south, not saying Mam or Sir was a good way to earn a premature visit from the tooth fairy. Strange place up there and the people talk funny too.

This is my Girlfriend and Holly Holsten on my birthday last year. The really amusing part was seeing the look on my SO`s face the next day when my Mother stopped by and asked what we did for my birthday and I showed her the picture.
