I knew it was you whod posted this thread as soon as I saw it appear in the forum overview. I guess the first invite would go to yourself - you have so many naughty threads that I reckon it would at least be a very creative orgy... ETA: you are. Really? You could have the best of both worlds, youb know.. I know where there is a cessna 206 turbine for sale Anyway, to the OP - Good luck with your decision! But even if you decide that skydiving does not have a place in your life at this point, there is no reason you should lose all those social contacts... I bet you'd be welcome around the bonfire anytime.

I must admit that I was confused too when we were approaching the American intersection for the time. People actually STOP for you and wait their turn? Confusing and somewhat scary... We be stupid foreigners The system you got over there would never work on this side of the pond (at least the bit known as the Netherlands)... where there are no traffic lights involved it's every (wo)man for themselves - you spot a gap big enough to squeeze your car into and... you do. Serious issues breathing last few jumps
Baksteen replied to chrismgtis's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have a load of full-face jumps too (>150). When I did a freefall with an open face helmet a couple of jumps ago I was surprised to encounter the same thing. It stopped when i realised that it was the wind on my face that i was not accustomed to anymore. Just relax and breathe. It worked for me -
*saved me the typing* thanks +1 "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

Excuse me, but air is not denser than an H2O medium. Therefore piliots are not swimmers. 'Sides, Why should pilots consider skydivers to be aviators? *I* don't either.

Well then I can post mine as well - had quite a long 'weekend' too.. two weeks of jumping

What book would you recommend for a newcomer to this sport?
Baksteen replied to shah269's topic in Safety and Training
I agree. I think Dan's book is the best for someone interested in getting into the sport. Meh - I just got started on the 2007 edition and there's a lot of stuff in the first two chapters I wouldn't want students to know before their FJC... They'd have to 'unlearn' all the stuff they studied on their own. -
That's exactly what I intended - move the scope away from USPA or whatever other organisation and get people to think: What IS a coach or, what should a coach be? A quick if weird question: I'm flying with KLM on Sunday and while taking a parachute with me as carryon is not a problem, they need to know the dimensions of my Javelin J7container (length x width x depth). Since I do not have my rig to hand at the moment I was hoping if someone could help me out.. even a rough indication would be a tremendous help. That is EXACTLY what I hear most when someone associates a name with John Mitchell. That's not very nice! "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

Meh, as long as you pay the royalties, you'll be fine. I'll have my people call your people to work something out, mmmkay? EDIT: 'speling' "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

You didn't 'cause while I might have an IQ close to room temperature, I'm still Dutch.. We don't sue so quickly. When that happened to me I casually walked over to the counter and kindly explained to the nice girl serving out the 'food' that, while I have nothing but understanding for cutbacks, this was ridiculous. She turned a particularly flattering shade of vermillion and gave me another burger. It was even freshly prepared with the lettuce still crisp.

..have got an IQ just as close to room temperature as a typical McDonalds burger... I know. My personal favourite was the one they forgot to put the 'meat' in... just some cardboard-ish bun and some runny mayonaise and brown vegatables.. I think he means "move the slider off the slider stops" as he was talking about "disturbing the packjob" before that. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

exactly the same... exactly the same. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

Not necessarily. Some people are so allergic to stuff (eg certain fruits) that even eating from an unwashed plate upon whihc the fruit has been cut is enough to make them swell up like a beach ball. It's hard to condemn the person or McD for that matter without knowing more facts - did the customer ASK for a burger without cheese, or is this yet another "drying your dog in the microwave oven" kind of claim? On a side note: They serve the burgers ABOVE room temperature n the US? I was being sarcastic - I forgot to add the ""-smiley. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
