Skydive San Marcos is a cool dropzone.... Take reviews for what they are worth. It is a great dz especially for doing a tandem.... You could go a little further up to skydive temple if you want to jump out of a smaller plane (although they rent bigger ones). I believe they also have free beer in temple....

Did you start zooming in at the end??

Mother refuses chemo treatment for 13 year old son
ASTKU replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
I was under the impression that they were headed to Mexico for a "natural" treatment (whatever the hell that means).... I don't think they just went on vacation to avoid chemo. -

Something I would like somebody to do for me if I was asking about tattoos.... Thanks for your help educating me about how my opinion affects others

What dropzones have the best fleet of aircraft?

I grew up with Chris in Fort Worth. I have some great memories of Chris. We went to school together as kids. We were in the same cabin every year when we went to Camp Longhorn. Great guy to be around. I can still picture him at Camp asking me to tell more "once in my mommas belly" jokes (obviously an inside joke) and he would laugh his ass off.... He threw some of the craziest, funnest parties during high school.... Last time I saw Chris was actually at the Gravity Rats Skydiving Center grand opening. THIS IS FUNNY.... So I show up a little later than I wanted and just in time to see a friend land and de-gear. My friend Jamie was talking to this guy that apparently he had just jumped with. This big hairy bearded guy "BEAR" was explaining to Jamie what he needed to work on to get better at sitflying. (At this point Jamie and I had 40-50 jumps total) So I am introduced to "Bear" and I take this opportunity as a wanna-be-freeflyer noob to start asking him some questions about the best way to go about even attempting a sitfly. We are talking for like 5-10 minutes when all of a sudden he says "what a sec, is your last name Taylor??" I look at him as he is taking off his sunglasses "YES, how the hell did you know that??" He goes "its me Chris Johnson!".... I was so freaking excited. I couldn't believe it. We hadn't seen each other in probably 8 years and we were talking for a while and neither of us even realized it. This is when I found out that he had only started jumping 5-6 months ago and had already racked up something like 350 jumps. I was so damn jealous. Here I am at 50 jumps, been in the sport 9 months and this asshole has 7 times as many jumps as I did!! The sad part about this is we never did a jump together that day, I moved to Colorado two weeks later and to this day we never got to skydive together. We planned on jumping last Thanksgiving while I was in town but the weather screwed us. He is the only childhood friend I know that shared my greatest passion and I blew the only opportunity I had to jump with him.... I have been thinking about Chris a lot lately. MY Thoughts are with Chris and his family and he will be missed by many!! Love ya buddy, Adam

Would you consider ADD a disability?
ASTKU replied to CRAZYBOY333's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
It doesn't seem like you had a hard time responding. It looks like you did a freakin research paper. Amazing. If you are ADD, I would like some please. Just awesome that you have this much time on your hands to defend this. You must not have a job or maybe you don't sleep. Well since I have a job and don't really care about your opinion and this is only for my entertainment I only allocated two minutes of my day to research this subject. And my ADD kicked in!! Again, I didn't think anybody would have the time to check the validity of my quotes. Uhhhh. Those weren't my comments. They were someone elses, I just thought it was funny so I copy and pasted. Nope. I didn't do any of that. Also, its kinda rude to call me an idiot. I might be a jackass but I'm not an idiot. That I would agree with. Okay. Okay. Maybe I shouldn't have said bullshit. But depression is used as cop-out just like ADD. If your depressed do something about it. Like me, I go skydiving. Cured. Agreed. Thats a scary thought. Now you're just being ridiculous. Well, this is a thread on dropzone.com I didn't think you'd be checking my bibliography... For me, this is for entertainment. Oh come on. Take it easy. Yes, I didn't do any research but shouldn't I still be able to voice my opinion?? And I don't have the attention span nor do I care enough to read books or check any of your links on this subject(which I didn't).... Well, Its been fun. Try to relax a little and don't get so worked up. I truly believe that you know what you are talking about and its been fun and interesting reading your responses. I haven't laughed like this in a day or so. Gotta get back to the grind, PEACE -
That person on their homepage doing a tandem looks like their 12 years old.....

Would you consider ADD a disability?
ASTKU replied to CRAZYBOY333's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
Everyone's got an opinion. Mine just happens to be that ADD is not a disability. If you read one of those quotes it is saying that ADD is a product of evolution and it can be used as an advantage. So far all you are talking about is how I don't know what I am talking about....Thats pretty easy to say, huh..... What is your opinion other than not agreeing with mine?? -

Okay.... I will let other people do the talking.... -
Would you consider ADD a disability?
ASTKU replied to CRAZYBOY333's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
ADD is a bullshit term..... You just need to develop a method of checking your rig, preparing for a skydive, etc. that works for you.... -
I think Mile Hi is definitely a must. Its a very pretty view. Big landing area. Otter, king air, and a C206. Lots of fun jumpers. Open year round.

I would highly suggest you have MONKYCNDO make you his custom mudflap altimeter mount. I have been using it for a little while and I love it. I wear two analog altimeters and an audible. The mudflap alti is great for sitfly and when tracking off. I believe it is a much better choice than the Bonehead because its not ridiculously hard carbon fiber (so it will give if you bump someone or crash in a landing). Its also very easy to remove and put back on.

I am not qualified to answer this question.......but will anyway From my experience/research if you are flying a lightly wingloaded canopy you should not necessarily be able to stall the canopy without taking some wraps (wrapping your hands around the toggles to get more flare). I just started jumping a Storm190 loaded at 1.1 and I can't stall the canopy without taking at least one wrap. I actually shortened the steering lines a lot from factory setting.... Its nice to know I can't stall the canopy. I like the fact that if shit happens and I flare way to high I can just hold it and float down.... Its also great for setting myself in the pattern so I don't land right after or before someone else. Learn your canopy. Find out how much it takes for you to make the canopy start to respond from toggle input. It takes me only about 2 inches to start getting input.... Once I started doing research about different canopies I realized that I was jumping my spectre210 with the lines too short. So under full flight I was actually slightly braking. That killed some of my flare power.... Call PD and talk to them yourself if you won't the people that designed the canopies opinion. They're awesome.... http://www.performancedesigns.com/contact.asp Just my two cents. Sorry to ramble. Good luck!! BlueSkies

You are lucky, Unfortunately my rig is pretty damn big. It won't fit in a carry on size bag, Ive tried.... I checked it once and that about gave me a heartattack, it wasn't there when I landed! I did get it back but since then I have just carried it as a backpack on the plane. No problems with security, couple swabs and once had to show the card (xray vigil card) and nobody even bugging me on the plane. But, I think that may be cause I look like an asshole . Definitely bring it with you on the plane one way or the other, I would not suggest checking it, or anything worth 4 grand for that matter....
