  1. Hello. I have been using a Sony HC-62 for a couple years and just purchased a CX-110. I did some jumping with it this weekend and I am having some unusual issues. 1) About 1 in every 5 times I hit the record button the damn thing malfunctions and starts freaking out (turns off, says recovering data) and I can't do anything for 30 seconds or more. Once I turn it back on it records fine. 2) Almost every single time I'm trying to play back jumps (after there is a new one) I will turn the camera on, switch to play mode and there is nothing there. I turn the camera off and on and it will show the right number of clips but a big question mark and they are unplayable. After a 3rd time of restarting the clips work fine.... The manual suggests using a Memory Stick and in this case I was using a SDHC 8gb card. Could it be a bad card?? Thoughts??? I DID use the search button but could not find an answer. THANKS!
  2. A little off topic but I think that having both weapons in your arsenal is ideal.... With my experience (which is minimal b/c of my awesome body position on deployment ) it makes sense to me that during a line twist opening you would first pull your risers apart and once you get the twists going in the correct direction pushing them together may help you speed up and unwind quicker.... Just my thoughts, not a instructor, not a rigger, use at your own discretion yada yada
  3. There are other dropzones close by as well.... Check 'em all out!!
  4. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!! I'll be there..... Look for the guy with Jayhawk on his rig and jumpsuit! THE HOLIDAY BOOGIE IN AZ is probably my favorite boogie!
  5. Sweet! Looks like a lot of belly fliers wishing they knew how to SIT, lol
  6. I was entertained! That last base jump was freaking nutty!
  7. Bumpy bump....... Is there a sitfly record?? I know there was an Eloy 20 way sit round recently but I believe it started as a 20 way belly round and then transitioned. So, why don't we care about sitfly records or backfly records. Shit, how cool would it be to build a 20 way round only backflying!

  9. also, don't forget to think about your arms....pushing down with your arms helps me fine tune my level with another person
  10. Is running a marathon really "good" for you.?.?.?... I would think being able to run 3 miles everyday would be better than running a marathon every 9 days.... 3-4 hours of pounding on your hips and ankles and joints etc can't feel great the next day.
  11. Fly Free Julien..... You are definitely missed
  12. No, I can not see that happening in a more advanced league...like the NFL
  13. I was asking the original poster what he decided
  14. Holy crap that was funny! seriously
  15. I started out on a spectre 210 and did about 150jumps on that and recently sold my storm 190 that I did 300+ jumps on.... I defnitely preferred the storm. I thought it was much easier to land and definitely seemed to help me get back to the dropzone on a long spot... Never jumped the same size so take that into account..... They both opened great. My dislike about the storm was that after opening when the brakes are still stowed it is a very hard canopy to control. It wants to kind of "hunt" around which is scary if you happen to be too close to someone else opening. The spectre was solid and easy to steer in this configuration.... The storm was also very easy to fly proximity with others even if they were loading their canopies higher. This I liked considering I jumped it at about a 1:1.05 Hope that helps.
  16. yep thats freeflyin' alright
  17. Maybe I am using the wrong terminology. I'm just wondering if I am compressing it more (reducing the quality) by using USB and movie maker. My personal computer does not have a fire-wire port. I'll just buy a fire wire and try it on my work computer which should have the fire wire port..... You are obviously more knowledgeable about this and I appreciate your time! Blue Skies!!
  18. That's exactly what I am asking, thanks.... Right now when I upload a skydive, for about a minute of footage the file is 3mb in size. So it's sounding like it is compressing it more..... Unfortunately I don't have a fire wire connection on my outdated computer.
  19. So are you saying 3mb per minute is about the best I can get? How do I get the most un-compressed video out of this camcorder??
  20. I have been jumping a Sony HC-62 mini-dv camcorder for a while.... I have been just using Windows Movie Maker and dumping the files on my computer. I didn't think the files were being compressed but my buddy thinks they are.... I end up downloading jumps at about 3mb per minute of tape. Is movie maker compressing this file or is there a way to get better quality by using firewire and different software or...?...? I really don't want to buy a HD camera yet, so just trying to see if I can get better quality by doing something different. Thanks! And I did search for a while but couldn't find a thread on this subject.
  21. Well there goes my plans to jump in Temple. Damn it!! I was getting excited about this boogie...... Guess I'll have to settle for the Luau Boogie in Dallas. You're on my shit list Anvil Brothers!! j/k
  22. But in 40 seconds certainly a DSLR would take a crap load more pictures than the modern compact you are referring too.
  23. Can you elaborate on why it is "dicey" My buddy has jumped a couple times with his T1i and all the pictures look great (in sports mode). Are you saying there would be a major difference if he manually set the camera differently??
