Ah yes... the wonderful institution of marriage. Definately an experience that every man should have to go through - at least once. Grats or condolences, whichever the case may be...

1) I'm thinking this prolly had more to do with their natural behavior... doggies that have been cage/kennel trained consider that space as theirs. If their not feeling well and don't want to be messed with, their apt to be a little snippy when in their. In short, their the alpha male in their space... period. Glad the OP wasn't hurt worse and God forbid, mauled... 2) I don't agree with the assumption / feeling / attitude that folks have (apparently not you Normiss... ) that Pits are naturally agressive. Doggies are much like children in that their behavior is largely a product of their environment. I've been around Pit's that are extremely loveable and friendly (willingly taking whatever comes their way and were only a danger to flys and bonifide intruders into their home/pac) and I've been around Labs (generally assummed to be loveable and good with kiddies) that would go off at the drop of a hat ...any hat. While I recognize that there are dog breeds that are better suited for one thingy or another, I think that the combination of assholes using pits as guard dogs and to 'look cool' combined with the typical media hype has given Pits a reputation they don't necessarily deserve. Ok... got my flame proof undies on, so fire away folks.

Did this conversation arise from the 'Beer Rules'? If so, point out to him that one of the core principles to the beer rule is to bring new folks into the fold (so to speak). It builds commraderie, opens a venue for inexperienced jumpers to get acquainted with others, and allows experienced folks to parlay their knowledge on those of less experience in addition to helping to keep the fridge stocked. It's commonly accepted that for those who don't drink that other beverages or goodies are allowed and apprecitated. A cooler full of water bottles in the middle of the afternoon... doughnuts... home-made goodies.... Hell, just about anything edible is generally appreciated. Nobody will force him to drink to be accepted, and likely he'll find that others will respect his decision to not partake and act accordingly (ok, this last part might be a stretch when the coolers are empty and the boobies are showing... ) Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

In addition to the Osprey, it also resembles the BA 609 (A smaller, corporate version of the Osprey). There's high hopes that this smaller version will be a big hit with the corporate world (think versatility of a helicopter with the speed and fuel efficiency of a conventionl turbine). ...years ago when Boeing held the partnership with Bell, I worked on the Mid-wing gearbox which transferes power to the opposite rotor in the event of an engine failure. Anyway, the biggest obstacle to it's development and deployment at the time was how this aircraft will fit into the existing FAA regs and aviation infrastructure... I'm no instructor, so take my advice with a grain of salt along with ALL other advice you receive on these forums. There's pros and cons to this question... By doing the Tandem first, you'll likely drop a few dollars more initially (by virtue of paying for both a tandem and the AFF course) but you'll have some experience to draw from on your first AFF dive, especially with regards to canopy control and what it feels like as you approach your landing. ***but only if your tandem instructor knows you'll be doing AFF so you receive the appropriate instruction, versus just being taken for a ride*** As far as it 'not being smart' ...I call bullshit. There's no safety issue with doing AFF without a Tandem first. There's thousands of folks that have done this. It almost sounds like their more interested in $$$ than creating another skydiver (but in their defense, they are a business which means that's what they do... try to make $$$ ...a business is a business to make money.) The above is my opinion only... YMMV Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

I found a wallet once with over $500 cash in an empty parking lot of a 7-11 once. Sat in my car for a few pondering the possibillities... decided the right thing to do would be to try and return it, so I went back into the store to see if anyone had asked since there was no ID in the wallet. Low and behold while talking about it, a fella came in almost in tears praying beyond hope that someone had found it. After identifying the exact amount and denominations, I gave it back to him. he was most appreciative and explained that the cash inside was his months paycheck and he 'really, really...' needed it for rent and food for his kids. Fast forward a few weeks... I lost my wallet with my freshly cashed paycheck (which I needed for food and skydives...) and it was returned with all the cash inside. Karma is sooo cool! Well... I gave it a shot but quite frankly, the game is too boring for me. So I started mudding again. Which reminds me... I need to dump everything I own on RTS back to the gang and give up me gang privys... If you folks like RTS, you would truly dig mudding. Much more exciting, interesting, involvment, exploring, ass kicking, etc. Anyone interested can PM me Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

15 things that will get you banned from KMart
Glitch replied to aardvarkeater's topic in The Bonfire
I doubt they'd let you in the doors. I used to work for Walfart eons ago... one of my jobs was to go to Kmart and Target to compare prices on their goods and ours. If you got caught jotting down their prices, they'd give ya the boot. Here's what I've done before though... I've gone around and 'shopped', adding vast quantities of various items to my carts. I've even had employees helping me get items from top shelves (had one help me push a cart to the register once cause it was so full), only to leave the goods near the check out and walk out... All the pleasure of shopping without the pain of paying or going to jail. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born... -
The following is my opinion only... YMMV. 1. I know it's hard to now... but think RE-SALE value. Outlandish color schemes are cool and all but you'll likely want to sell the rig at some point in the future... 2. Don't try to use more than 3 colors on a rig... very seldom does it look better than what you could of done with 2 or 3; the KISS rule applies ...refer to #1 above. 3. Options: all the bells and whistles are cool and fun, but really... come on... is it worth the fundage at our level of experience? Wouldn't the fundage for the fully articulated harness, all stainless, tye-dye, and foam spacer padding be better spent on actually skydives? Nice... but not necessay. I would however get a padded backpad if I were you, but then again I typically live in a 206. 4. Personally, I'd suggest the Large 3 ring for your container. If you get into swapping canopies around (demo, downsizing, CRW, Mr.Bill, ...) it makes it much easier if you have the large base on your container... mini-risers will fit a full size base ring, but not the other way around. (...and I'm sure someone will chime in shortly to let us know what the actual names are for the ring sizes). 5. I'd also personally recommend the B12 snaps for the leg straps. I have these on my rig and LOVE em! No more twisting and contorting... no more muscle cramps... no more fumbling and falling. I also have the benefit of being able to tack down the straps so I no longer have to constantly adjust em... 6. The only other thingy I could mention is your chest strap. I prefer the wide one (and I'm sure whomever chims in with the correct terminology for the 3 ring sizes will add to this as well) instead of the narrow one. If you happen to use a chest mount altimeter (for our RW friends and tracking) it will tend to stay put better... I sent my rig back to the factory to have the chest strap replaced for the wide one (and it didn't cost me a dime except shipping to them, they replaced it for free, covered the return shipping, and got my rig back to me in

I'd agree, the game is pretty boring. Mudding, on the other hand, IS quite addictive. All you need is a decent telnet client and the ability to read/type... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

I would think that would be obvious... 1) it would allow a cubby hole to be built into the wall above the fireplace and/or 2) the contractor saved a few bucks on lumber. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

I don't think there's a db of riggers, much less one that includes a list of their 'mistakes'. Riggers pretty much take care of their own; meaning that if there's a 'mistake' that catches another riggers eye then the riggers will have a heart to heart. Depending on the nature of the 'offending' riggers mistake and his/her response, the action may get bumped up to the authorities (read FAA). Riggers are humans, and you human types tend to make mistakes (I don't include myself in this because my wife swears I'm some sort of f*cking alien; and according to her she's never wrong.) Anyway, I've been in and around the sport since '82 and have only first hand knowledge of 1 rigger being taken to the FAA, and his ticket was pulled for life.

ok...question for ya. Whats your philosophy with a couple in a committed longterm relationship where the sex goes to shit? For example, she has a total hysterectomy due to medical reasons so the hormones are no longer there... Given all things being equal, like it or not sex IS an important part of a relationship. If you were the male in the aforementioned relationship, what would you do? Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...
