I think any receipient of govt aid, regardless of race, creed, sexual preference, gender, or religion should be on mandatory birth control, so of course I think they should be drug tested ...as well as validated citizenship and jail/chain gang/deportation of illegals... bcmin, Relax... Time and time again, ad nauseum, the same things happen here. Mr. Jumper posts on here 1 thing (posts... as in using the written word in a very non-formalized environment) and it comes across as something else. Then, Mr. "I'm so tired of cleaning up the carnage/losing friends/giving condolences to spouses/etc" responds in a manner to DRIVE a point home before Mr. Jumper kills himself or someone else. This sport is different than most, in that you can do everything right and still fucking die, no matter what your experience level is. Don't take what is given as gospel (this is an anonymous'ish interweb thingy afterall...) but count on a couple of things while your here... 1) If you fuck up bad enough, folks will post about it here and talk bad about you. 2) If you fuck up a moderate amount, the safety nazi's (folks with the experience and willingness/desire to grow and protect the sport) will correct anything unsafe and/or stupid in the hopes that others will learn and not kill themselves or anyone else. 3) If you fuck up a little ...just a smidgeon, you will owe beer. The bottom line is what you did resulted ok, but you were lucky. Learn from your mistakes. ...and remember not to take anything on these boards personally, were all just trying to get along and live to skydive another day.

Depends on how well I like the "guy" on the tracks... Seriously, I don't know how I would answer IF I knew any of the parties involved... I'm sure if I knew one of them it would skew my decision. However, all things being equal... I'd prolly try to save the 5 and offer up the singular individual as chow... for the greater good mind you... I'd also add that I'm not addressing the possible legal ramifications of my actions... I can easily envision this happening, with the 1 guy killed and the guy who threw the switch being strung up to dry. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Well... you can either get rid of the magnets, get a different cat door, move the litter box, or get rid of the cats. The choice is yours... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Listening To Music While Skydiving!
Glitch replied to Skyhighbird's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This has been discussed many, many times before... You can use the handy search function for the details, but the general synopsis is that it's a bad idea for multiple reasons... Yes it's possible to hear your ipod, but... Skydiving has enough hazards to wrap your mind around as it is... so why add something else to distract you? I'll vote for 'you did good'. You broke the chain of events. Your looking at the links and trying to learn. Good...

Who are you? By that, I mean who are you as a canopy pilot? What do you want from the parachute? Is it the flight? ...the landing? ...is it a means to end the freefall so we can safely play grab and tickle again? ...CRW? ...what will you want next season? 3-5 years from now? Riddle me these and I'd point you towards either a 7 cell or 9 cell canopy. Newer is generally better than old but is more expensive. Size is important. Skills are important but they don't replace experience. ...You likely don't know what you don't know just like the rest of us. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

As NW stated there are rules about this kind of thing. However... you do always have the option of contesting the rules at any time. This simply means that you go to the S&TA or DZO and plead your case. On their honor, they will carefully consider all aspects of the ruling and evidence, and then summarily rule against you. Genarally speaking, the penalty is a case. Beer in mind, the spirit of the rules is multifold: 1) Opportunity for introductions of the fledglings to the experienced folks *what kind of experience is debatable*, B) provides an opportunity for the inexperienced to gain experience and learn from those who have walked the path *again, the type of experience is debatable*, and Last but not least) Keeps the fridge stocked. There really IS a wealth of information to be learned just by hanging around the DZ... I've always considered it $$$ well spent. If you happen to be a non-drinker, it's generally acceptable to provide a case on non-alcoholic beverages. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Remi, I doubt you'll find what your looking for... the drawings are typically associated to / linked to the solid body within the file (as I'm sure your aware...). This being said, there's prolly a work-around that, while prolly a PIA, will get you where you need to be. A really good source of CAD info can be had at Eng-tips.com. Find the appropriate group and do some digging... I go here for UG stuff before I go to GTAC... PM me if you need anything else... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Recent threads, along with the typical media presented 'guns are evil and should be outlawed' crap were normally fed, got me to wondering just how many crimes were actually stopped / prevented due to the fact that a bystander or victim was carrying a weapon. Google provides statistics, but you have to dig deep to find something relevant. It seems to me that this 'statistic' isn't tracked (why isn't it?), much less reported and you don't see many news acounts of instances where this happens. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this while surfing the news during lunch today. I wasn't looking for it but there it was... This is a fine example of why one would want to carry and how a gun stopped/prevented a/multiple crimes. Feel free to discuss... and for the record, I wouldn't mind at all if EVERY LAW ABIDING CITIZEN carried a concealed weapon. In fact, I would feel more secure... My first 'square' jump was on one. Had to BEG the DZO to jump it, and had 50+ jumps at the time. He was very hesitant because he didn't want me to kill my self by hammering it it and told me so. I told him he was wrong... he was right. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

..and none of this 'twins at the same time' crap or 'world peace, winning the lotto, or free jump tickets' shit either. Really... what do you want? Me... It seems to me that the best solution would be to hire a neighbor kid to mow the lawn for him as an Xmas present. Additionally, and more importantly I thinks, would be to find out who is filing the suit and visit their lawn at 3 am with a couple of bottles of Round-Up and a sprayer. Next spring/summer, they'll have more important things to worry about than how long a neighbors lawn is.
