No, but if you can get some gals to dance nekked on the DZ around a bonfire.... It might not work, but it sure as hell won't hurt your cause! Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

No, but I'm pretty sure they read the same manual on how to control and manipulate... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Speaking from experience eh? And that's good advice... You should always keep at least 1 rubber stashed in your rig for when you land off the DZ! Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Can't speak for other folks, but for me... it doesn't stop. I'm at work right now... day dreaming about skydiving and posting instead of actually doing anything productive for the boss. ...and my first skydive was Aug 15, 1982. What does that tell ya? Here's my .02 cents, for what its worth: 1) Never treat an off DZ landing as a normal landing on the DZ, or IT WILL bite you in the ass someday. Stupid hurts. 2) Keep a pull-up cord stashed in your rig for field packing. Long walks are easier with a packed rig. Been there, done that... 3) Try to get a general idea of which way to walk before you land. I've seen multiple instances where someone has landed off and winds up trying to walk out by going in the wrong direction. ...and thats all I'm saying on that note. Damn, I guess I owe beer or something. According to my wife, I'm never 'correct'. I'm glad there's a written record of it 'cause now I have PROOF! Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Kefran, I didn't read the posts as AFFI bashing you in any way (YMMV though...). Often, the written word can misinterpreted without the subtle body language that goes with the spoken word. I took his comments as a general statement to/about EVERYBODY that continued training and experience impacts the decisions we make... There's an old saying in skydiving... 'When in doubt, whip it out'. I think you would be hard pressed to find someone bitching you out for selecting "Plan B" (chopping when a repack is the only exception I can think of), as we all know that the only person to paying the price for that decision is said jumper. I have however, seen jumpers promptly get their asses chewed for NOT chopping when they should have (and for a variety of reasons...) IMHO, you did good! You were aware of your altitude, recognized a problem existed, recognized you didn't know what the problem was at the time (Monday morning QB'ing doesn't apply) and respected your hard deck. Unlike anything you've ever experienced. Unfortunately, you prolly have no frame of reference from which we can truely relate the experience... Just listen to your TM (Tandem Master) and they will teach you everything you need/should know. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

My contribution to this post is: 1) A medical certificate should be required for all drivers, just like for pilots. 2) It would be justifiable homicide to wack the asshole(s) pacing the car next to them on the highway. 3) It would be justifiable homicide to wack the asshole(s) who drives continuously in the left lane for seemingly no other reason than to see how many vehicles they can stack up behind them. You might get further in try-outs if you refer to it as 'Black and Gold' instead of 'Blue and Gold'. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

...I once exited a Huey at "something less than" 2000 under a borrowed Unit. I finally saddled out at "something over" 1000' and barely made it to the LZ. I didn't want to chop it because then I wouldn't have a rig to practice the demo with...although I did have the cut-away broke loose and was lifting up my feet for some reason thinking 'come on...come on...open already!' ...the thingies I did when I was young and immortal. Well... 1 case initially. However... since you had to ask, you owe another case! I urge you to disagree and take your case to your S&TA and argue against the penaly case though. That way, (s)he can, after much thought and contemplation, rule against you for yet another case! Grats all around though!

Ditto... I heard this shortly after a safety briefing in Deland somewhere around '83. The chorus has been bouncing around my noggin every since! ...mostly because I couldn't remember the words. And for those who don't know... it's set to the tune of 'You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille' by Kenny Rogers. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

whats so wrong with a round reserve??

I have a few myself... 1 x 24' ripstop and 2 on a 26' Phantom, all stand-up landings TYVM (I was young and immortal at the time) Of course, this doesn't count the 24' Flat that I unwittingly jumped on my 400th. But that's a different story... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born... -
Consistent off heading openings on my new Sabre 2
Glitch replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hehe... glad ya caught that, sometimes my obtuse sense of humor isn't. Anyway, I've played these games with my Sabre2, and aside from getting that slick bitch in the bag, I don't have any problems anymore (limited jump #'s, so the jury is still out). Once I quit screwing around with the nose (I just flake it and leave it the hell alone... no more stuffing, rolling, stroking, petting, or fondling) and started 'lightly' rolling the tail, I've had sweet openings. I also had a bit of an issue with excessive snivels (1300' rides from pitch to saddle), which also went away once I started pulling the slider to the rear instead of quartering (think old-school stack packing...). Now I'm enjoying nice 600'-800' openings - just like I like 'em. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born... -

Why shouldn't you ever eat anything out of a dented can?
Glitch replied to Twoply's topic in The Bonfire
Actually, that's the point. Next time a friend gets married (or just for the hell of it...) go to their pantry and remove (re-arranging is optional) all the labels from the can goods. Additional fun can be had augmenting their pantry with additional cans (labels removed of course) of your favorite cuisine. You could optionally stock them up with the nastiest tasting tidbits you can find, and oriential groceries are a pretty good place to start. Similiar fun can be had with wrapped freezer goods (1/2 lbs blocks of ground up catfish wrapped in freezer paper, for example). Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born... -
As a parent, I've had my kids run around the house wearing nothing but a diaper/pull up and a t-shirt, especially when its warm out. Don't forget were talking about an animal, driven by instincts. Nothing more. The child was no match for the dog physically, and surely had no idea what was going on until too late. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...
