Raising our kids in religion. I'm anti, she's pro
mamajumps replied to Twoply's topic in Speakers Corner
I was only raised in church when I spent summers with my grandparents. My parents were "holiday" christians, meaning they went on Easter & on Christmas "because it was the right thing to do". Just spending the summers with my grandparents was enough for me to decide that a relationship with Jesus was something I wanted very much. Many people confuse religion with a relationship. Religion is what is created by people who put their own spin on Christianity. My personal relationship with Jesus has gotten me thru many many hard times. And I know Im gonna get flamed for this by those who dont understand, but He (Jesus) talks to me, not out loud, (Im not crazy) but its more than that, something that cannot be explained to a non-believer. I dont go to church on a regular basis, but we do go. My kids have all been raised to believe in Jesus Christ, our savior. We don't go every Sunday, b/c life happens, sometimes you just cant make it, or simply dont feel like it. Will this send me to hell, not in a million years. Its my relationship with Jesus that ensures my salvation. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will go to heaven when I die. Christians are not perfect, and the non-believers who think we should act this way are very misguided. In fact, Christians have a harder time than non-believers b/c we are ones that satan has lost, and he will always try his best to get us back. I stumble all the time as a Christian and fall flat on my face from time to time too, thats because I am human, even tho I am saved I still have a free will. As to an answer about letting kids make up thier own minds, I agree. I was forced as an older teen by my grandparents to go to church and this kept me out of church for several years. However it was my Savior who gently nudged me to go back. Now my boys, ask me if we are going to church on Sunday and they are always elated and excited when we do. My 8 yro son, reads his Bible by himself, unprompted, and at meals, they always fuss over who is gonna get to bless the meal. Christianity is not for everyone, but I am sure glad it is for me and my family, I dont know where I would be without my Savior. ok... go ahead flame away, pick my post a part... -

I dont always look for cheapest with auto insurance, some of the fly by night companies offer shitty shady service. I just switched from Progressive to Allstate (About 4 months ago). When I cancelled my soon to ex from the Progressive policy it sky rocketed. I pay Allstate what I was paying Progressive but just for me and they have a great safe driver bonus, for each six months you dont have an accident, you get a bonus check in the mail. Cant beat it if you ask me and their customer service is the bomb-diggity... Im very happy!

A good friend told me about this program and then I saw a story about them on the news. Its a great deal and with the economy in the shape it is in, I know a lot of people could use a little help where it can come from. This is not welfare, ANYONE can take advantage of this program regardless of income. the last time my boyfriend and I were in Sebastian, we fixed some of the ribs that came from them in the slow cooker and they were the best ribs I had eaten in a really long time. http://www.angelfoodministries.com

Personally I think this is just like people who walk around with their chests all puffed out acting like a badass, claiming they can beat anyones ass, always boasting about it, but in reality my 88 yro grandma could open up a can of whoop ass on them that AJAX wouldnt take off.... -

All I can say is I was married to a man for 10 years who thinks like you do. From the get go he cheated on me. I was raised with old school christian morals and firmly believed in one woman one man for life. For 7 years of our marriage, thru out his infedility I was faithful and forgiving. Then one day I broke, was it because I wanted sport F*** and sample some strange, no it was because I wanted to hurt him as bad as he had been hurting me for the past years. However, it never phased him and even though our divorce is winding up, I still fell guilty for breaking my vows. I guess one of these days I will forgive myself. I am in a committed relationship now and even tho I would chew my foot off before I will ever get married again, I will never cheat on my boyfriend. If for no other reason, there are too many damn diseases out there. Your way of thinking does nothing but hurt people and created mistrusting women that the good guys have to spend months trying to reprogram with love and respect. -
I never had the opportunity to meet Lee and I havent met you YET! But you are in my prayers daily! Where are they with the case? God Bless!
