No one said that you have get a CR at 100 jumps.( Not directing at you per say) That is just the min. to get the rating. It goings back to the JM rating and how it use to work. Talk to some of the old timers at your DZ and they will tell you how it use to be. Most people don't get there CR at a 100 jumps. There are a few that do. They are natural in the air and good for them.. The OP is asking if they are the weakest link. They are a link in a system. If there is a weak part in that system they should fix the system. Well like in the discussion we had the other night. Coach and AffI courses are not really courses. They are evaluations. So if that is the case then you should have the skills before you go to the course. I guess that's why they want the proficiency card and the test done before you show up. OK THAT'S ALL GREAT STUFF BUT OP WAS ARE THEY THE WEAKEST LINK... I THINK USPA SHOULD UP THE REQUIREMENTS. I DON'T THINK COACHES ARE A WEAK LINK. Coaches are more day care for novice skydivers. QUESTION: College is suppose to prepare you for the real world? ( At least that was what I was told growing up )And if that is so, Then why are you looking at coaches as daycare or babysitters. A good coaches role is to transition a student from self supervision to a licensed skydiver. In other words prepare them for the real world. That's all. Prepare them to jump with others saflyYou don't make the big bucks straight out of college. It takes time. The professor gives the student the tools to survive in the real world. THAT'S WHAT A COACH IS SUPPOSE TO DO. As you go though life you pick up skills here and there to improve your performance and that moves you up the ladder. Well that's what a coach is suppose to do with a student. As far as the requirement I think it should be raised to a C and at least 200 jumps. To me the crossfire felt bumpy in turbulence. It was a 139 which was a little higher wing loading then i am jumping. The opening was great and flare was great. I just didn't like the fact that i was getting bumped around. The DZ I jump at is windy all the time. The safire I don't feel the bumps as much as I did on the Crossfire Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

I had a Saber 2 . I like it , just didn't like the off heading openings. Looking for a elliptical canopy in between the Saber/Safire class and the cross brace class. I tried a Crossfire 2 and didn't really like it. Just wondering what else is out there that people jumped and there thoughts on it Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

I know there is a wing loading progression on here somewhere. I was wondering the different types of canopy's. My was student rigs Saber 2 170 270 jumps Safire 2 149 around 400 jumps I am still on the Safire Looking to try different canopy's. I am still in the early stages of swooping and looking to switch canopy's next year. My wing loading is 1.35 right now. My question is what was the different types and why did you like/dislike them?
