I'm just glad she didn't say anything about purple jumpsuits! http://www.skybytch.com/eloy1028.jpg _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

I first dealt with this through prevention - i had hard inserts installed in my risers. They SHOULD prohibit this malfunction from ever happening. Missy Nelson dealt with this problem by dumping her reserve. The deploying reserve stopped the main from spinning, and took the preasure off her risers. Then she chopped her main and kicked out of her reserve line twists. I think the only debate is what happens between these two extremes, and a lot of this depends on altitude. Cutting one of the loops that anchors the three rings isn't a bad idea. You'd only have to cut one, because then the twists would unwind and you could normally cuttaway the second. However, if you're spinning on your side I would think this would be nearly impossible to do, and I'd hate to think how much altitude I might burn attempting this. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Ok, let's think this through. If you're doing 6000 feet/min at 750 feet, you're seven seconds from impact... this doesn't sound like the safety conscious diverdriver you make yourself out to be. Airtec and SSK both recomend that expert cypres's not be turned off when descending in the plane. Read it here: http://www.pia.com/SSK/cyp12.htm. _Am
-
This is only true for STUDENT Cypres's. You know it's a student cypres if it has a yellow button on the control piece. The student Cypres will fire at a descent rate of 29 mph (13 m/sec) The Expert Cypress will fire at a descent rate of 78 MPH (35 m/sec). Expert cypres's have been placed in Mike Mullins King Air (the fastest jumpship there is), and have not fired in his most aggresive descents. If the plane is exceeding a vertical descent rate of 78 MPH at 750 feet, you will have MUCH bigger problems then a reserve popping open. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

once, at quincy last year. In the loading area, I saw the storm approaching. I was concerned that we'd run out of time before the storm approached, but everyone I asked mocked me.... I didn't have the confidence to step off the load. I should've. I actually didn't jump through cloud, the cloud flew over us after I'd opened.... strangely. The lighting was frightingingly close, but worse were the winds at landing. I had been dragged about 20 feet before people helped me, thankfully I'd made the main landing area and people were around to help. We got my main under control, somebody drove a car out, and I jumped into the backseat... the winds were estimated about 40. Strangely, they picked up right after my feet touched down, so I wasn't backing up. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

I THINK I might actually step out of this one. I met the president of the Ferari fan club of America, today. And they're having a show at the chicago polo club that saturday. He's offered to let me drive his 360 spider... He's even offered to take me to the dealership and will help me test drive.... _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Jimmy... I don't know how you loaded your porter, but I jump at Chicagoland, and jump Andre's porter - (Andre is Peter L.'s friend, and had his porter at newfane back when I was around). It has the sunset painting on the back wall. Anyways, we easily put ten in. Andre upgraded his engine to a -27 (i think...) and it climbs like you wouldn't believe. If you can fit more in, I would imagine the aerodynamics could handle it. The structurals of the airframe is another issue, but I don't think that's in question here. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Under your full profile, in the equipment section, it would make a LOT of sense to add a wingloading field. It's just not that useful to see that somebody jumps a Stileto at 150, if you don't know how much they weigh, for example. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

By all means, use the Tony suit graphical tool.... but I'd still recomend you buy whatever your DZ recomends. You'll get it quicker. As for fabrics, well - pretty much you leave that up the manufacturer. They'll chose a combination of nylon, poly-cotton, and spandex to give you a "normal" fallrate. You just pick colors. Expect to pay extrea for tie-die, or different colors on the same panel. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Ask at your DZ. Each dropzone has arangements with specific suit suppliers that mean the fastest order times. If you're in a real rush, you can usually pay an extrea $20 for rush. Literally all the major names in jumpsuits are good. They're usually about the same price too, unless you start getting into the special options, special cool fabrics, etc. Yes, you really do need grippers. Booties, too. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

There's a surprisingly large amount of married men who contract HIV through gay sex, then infect their wives. For this, I entirely blame the men. The wives probably have NO idea this is going on. I think Lindsey and the others who said if you cheat you should tell their partner for their safety, hit it bang on. If I'm in a commited relationship, I'm confident that any STD's wouldn't be an issue, because if there was any question we would've had tests. As soon as somebody cheats, that confidence is false. I don't have a moral objection to "cheating". I don't think it reflects poorly on a person. I think it's a symptom of somthing being fundamentally wrong with the relationship. My only objection to the pricinciple of cheating is when you put your spouse or SO at risk to disease. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Just out of curiosity, why is this in the last bit different then throwing a wind drift indicator, which in some circles still is standard practice before jumping? _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
