There was actually a big debate over this at the DZ. Was it, or was it not a skydiving injury, and should it be submitted to parachutist. I suggested they submit it under the "dumbass manuever of the month" headline. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Well, that's an easy one. 0:0:1 First time breaking a bone. Unfortunately I did it running to the plane for my first jump of the weekend, so... no jumping for Andy. Not for a very long time. The weekend was fun though. I hung out at the DZ all day saturday, and saturday night was a fundraiser for MS. I gave away a boatload of money, so maybe my karma will improve. I did win few prises in the raffle, though. I won a monkey claw tilly hat, and - get this - a free video'd skydive. How's that for irony? Oh well. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I was really starting to get depressed when I got home today, but you all brought a smile to my face. Lisa? You think I'll pass up Rantoul? I still think I'll come down, maybe for just the last weekend though. No, sadly I won't be jumping, I don't imagine. Lindsey - thanks fo that awsome PM. There really isn't any excuse for that.... It's not just that somebody fucked up, it's that EVERYBODY fucked up. This almost was another example of how a chain of events leads up to tragedy. The bomber should've been on the radio, and aware of where he was. ATC should've seen the bomber, and alerted the jump plane pilot. The jumper should've checked for traffic before leaving. The dz (and through them, the pilot) should've had ground spotters since this is a frequent occurance. This isnt' that far-fetched. Eloy almost always has a ground spotter with a radio - I'm pretty sure this guy called a go-round because of traffic when we were all there memorial day weekend. Let me start this off on a "not TOO bad" note. I broke my ankle friday night, trying to make the sunset load at Chicagoland. I pulled into the parking lot to find the sunset load on a three minute call. I ran to my riggers trailer, banged on the door and grabbed my rig. Ran to my gear bag, grabbed an altimeter and my helmet, stuck my sunglasses on my forehead and started running for the plane, putting my gear on in the process. As I hit the prob-blast, my sunglasses went flying. As I turned to grab them, my ankle rolled under and gave way, I hit the ground. I didn't get up. Two hours later, I find myself with a fractured tillus, and I will be down for two monthes, at least. I've always known that gearing up while running to the plane is bad karma, I should've known better. Hopefully, this is the most action this forum will see for a while. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I'm doing the same thing, except I'm a couple of steps ahead of you. I'm now at the point that I don't smoke during the week at all. EVEN when I go out drinking, I don't smoke - and that was a huge hurdle for me to get over. The one last hurdle I haven't been able to deal with is heading to the DZ. I rarely last a few hours before finding someone to bum a one from, shortly thereafter I'm on my way to the nearest store. Some day. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
I make that mistake too, frequently. It's relatively semilar to the preamble in the constitution. It's surprising similar to the preamble in Canada's constitution, too. Except in Canada, it's "Life, liberty and security of person " - an example of how canada puts the good of the many over the individual, and explains canada's slightly more leftist attitudes. _Am (former political science major) __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Seems to me that jumping a balloon where you might have a low malfuntion is the exact scenario that the RSL was designed for. RSL's were designed to save your ass during a low malfunction and cuttaway. That is their primary purpose. Saving people who forget to pull the second handle (or can't find it), is just an added benefit. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

However, visiting Canadians will have neither a social or a passport, since Canadians don't need passports to travel to the US. Yeah, I have two aquariums. My 55 gallon one is entirely stocked with assorted goldfish, my 35 gallon one is tropical. Undergravel filters with powerheads are the top of the line filters, and are the least maintenance because they actively clean the gravel for you. Myself, both my aquariums are off the shelf Eclipse sets, with a bio-wheel and filter cartridge integrated into the lighting cover. I went 'off the shelf' because I really didn't know anything when I got started. I paid a lot, but got a pretty good system. If I'd do it again, I might buy the same, unless I went any bigger. If I went bigger, I'd certainly get an undergravel filter with external canister.

I know getting to this point has been a long road for you Mel. It's been a tough decesion but I know you're sure you're doing the right thing. Sometimes, things just have to come to an end. I was just browsing [url]www.freefly.ca[/ur] and just found out frankenotter is gonna be at skydive gananoque the july 1st weekend. Damn.
