I wear a pair of fleece Polar-tech pants, available from Mountain Equipment Co-op or other camping or hiking stores. http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=479769&bmUID=1042579331772 Underneath a pair of jeans, I am literally hot, even on frigidly cold days. I have never found anything that compares. These are 'da bomb. If worn these in temperatures as low as -35. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Same as in America, except that sixth jumper ALWAYS puts us over weight limits. Americans, are fat, remember? Seriously, this is the same reason we only put 9 or 10 in our Porter. 10 is WAY too tight! I don't see how you guys can put 11! Do ya just throw somebody up over top everybody else? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Wingloading is not enough, because as the exit weight increases, higher wingloadings become safer. Someone with an exit weight of 280 lbs flying a manta (280 sq ft) is very differnt then someone with an exit weight of 150 flying a 150. Whats the exit weight of the example you're asking about? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

BM has been on my list for years. I'd even blow off WFFC to do it this year... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

No. They busted a pedophile site, went through their bank records and investigated all their clients. Seems like perfectly valid policework to me, and is no different then how they'd do it offline. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The girlie mags and homophobic comments are more then enough to bring a sexual harassment suit. David being straight and same gender of his boss is of no issue. The harassment is clearly along sexual lines, and it's clearly making him feel uncomfortable. Know any lawyers at the DZ? As to the truck... In Canada, that would be worth a report to the Workmans Compensation Board, I think. I dunno what agencies are in California. Ah, here it is... http://www.dir.ca.gov/DOSH/Complaint.htm. They even have an anonymous complaint process, but I dunno if that would help. This might also be an interesting read: http://www.dir.ca.gov/DOSH/WorkersRights.htm. In short, I would explore that site for all its worth... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It is accepted in the United States that seat belts should be worn. The question of if a jumper should wear his seatbelt is settled - the law says that he must, and the pilot could have his licenced suspended if a jumper does. The question of whether the law is correct, is also mostly settled. Few people ever complain of wearing one, and there is little debate if the rules are appropriate. I supose like seat belts in cars, there will always be people who think they have better chances without, but most people believe that history has proven otherwise. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

This is one reason I recomend buying Extended Waranty's sold by manufacturers. Waranty work under these plans is usually done by third parties, not the manufacturer, and not the retailer. These third parties will usually do you right, simply because they know if you conplain to the retailer, the retailer can change waranty providers. Skydiving gear is the one area I will buy extended warantys, just because the likelyhood of me neeing is so much greater. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Not significantly. Switching it to 'Economy' mode might help, depending on whether you jump every day or just weekends. If you jump just weekends, set it to 'Economy'. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

A better news report: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=578&e=6&cid=578&u=/nm/20030113/ts_nm/people_townshend_dc _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Seems like an oxymoron, don't it? http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/01/13/1957227&mode=thread&tid=160 Edited to add: Argh. News reports suck. It's a rocket fuel, not jet fuel. Not quite so relevant to us. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

A quick look at ww.skydivingfatalities.info indicates the cause of this specific fatality to be inconclusive at most, but speculation is that it is likely related to a misrouted 3-rings. Unless I had factual evidence, I would not be slamming a company over something that I've "heard", when published reports offer a very different explanation. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I probably would've done exactly as you did. You found yourself in a spinning mal, and got out of the spins in 4 seconds. Awesome. You then found a line over and spent 10 seconds trying to clear it, before you took 6 seconds to open your reserve. It seems to me that once you were out of the spins, you had a relatively slow speed malfunction, and spending 10 seconds trying to fix it is entirely reasonable. That's just my opinion, though. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Chicagoland Skydiving - aka www.skydive.com has some very nice ones, both vests and full fleece sweaters in their gear shop. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Unless they've invented a new kind of radio signal, any kind I know of can be overpowered. GPS isn't spread spectrum, I don't think. I believe it broadcasts on a known frequency. Known frequencies can be locally overpowered - cheaply and easily. Is there something special about GPS that prohibits this? IE, like spread spectrum? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Yeah, if you keep your eyes open, you'll frequently see these guys driving accross the country. They do a lot of road trips - every auto show they go to they ride the bikes out themselves. It's a trip to see them on the highway. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
