Nah, easy out. If they actually did come after you, just claim it happened in Canada, or europe, or mexico... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I've found my canopy dries really quickly if I hang it over the shower rail in the bathroom, with the bathroom fan turned on. I leave it there overnight, and that's all it needs. Having the air-conditioning on helps, too. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Nah, I think I understand just fine. Any self respecting geek considers efficiency in their designs. Like this guy, who built himself a linux based "auto-bar" - complete with touchscreen... now THAT is cool. http://www3.hmc.edu/~bgreer/barmonkey/ Silly, fun, practical, and effecient. Plus, it mixes your drinks. My point, was that the jet engine was COMPLETELY useless to the cooling of the beer. To say that he "cooled the beer with a jet engine" is entirely false. He cooled the beer with a tank of compressed gas. Now if he'd actually cooled it with a turbine - I'd be REALLY impressed. It wouldn't be that hard, drive a piston off the fan, attaching the piston to a compressor on a freon based refrigeration unit, and see how quick you can spin it, for example. Simply using a turbine to burn off extra gas, in my book, is not a cool hack. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

You've never been to a DZ with free beer? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

This was on slashdot a while ago, and at the time it occured to me how silly it was. The jet engine has absolutely NOTHING to do with the actual cooling of the beer. The beer is cooled by rapidly allowing propane gas to blow out of a tank. The Liquid gas turning to - well, gas - requires heat, which it obtains from its imediate surroundings, in this case a cooler full of water and beer. Simple highschool physics. The only purpose of the jet engine is to burn off the escaping propane. It seems to me, that it'd be a whole lot more fun to do the same thing with a tank of nitrous oxide - aka laughing gas. Or helium, and have a whole room of people talking like Donald Duck. While I can certainly appriciate new ways to rapidly cool beer, using propane and a jet engine seems prohibitively expensive, complex, and dangerous. Replace the propane tank with one containing less dangerous and more fun gas, and I'm all there. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Got it! I do find it amazing at how badly I suck at anything requiring visual interpretation... No, I never was able to see any of those stupid 3d pictures, either. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Clearly a whole lot more to the switch then I thought. I'll shut up now. _AM __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

150 last year, despite a broken ankle in June. I paid full price for them all, too. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I love these. Especially the '1,000 feet below' one. We're allowed to jump if we're more then 1000 above a cloud, but not allowed to fall through the cloud. These rules came straight from the VFR rulebook, and were clearly initially written for planes, not skydivers. In Canada, you can jump through as many clouds as you like as long as you're not over a urban area. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

They have a beacon. It's on the Trent Lott International airport, remember those southern conservatives don't like too much nignoggery. I think we'll give 'em a show they'll never forget... lol _AM __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Nope. I have absolutely no visual acuity... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Then why won't they let me use my cellphone during taxi? Seriously, you want to remember what a bit of Electro-Magnetic Interference will do to that planes electronics. It probably won't fry them, but it might cause them to power-cycle, reboot, etc. It might be a bad thing if the auto-pilot suddenly turned off, or landing gear that needed to be down suddenly went up. Weird things happen around large amounts of EMI. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Facing and overcoming depression is a huge step to turning your life around. Congratulations for having the confidence to seek the help that you need, and making sure that you'll get through this. The first step is usually the hardest one there is. It's unfortunate that we so often need a kick in the ass to get started on things... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

You don't need the same algorhythm, just the same frequency. Just broadcast white noise on the same frequency, and you'll overpower the real signal. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I STILL don't get it. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

One point that should be mentioned is that its very easy for 'banned' users to simply reregister under a different username. This has been done countless times by a few individuals who didn't figure things out the easy way. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

This is an outstanding idea. I'll be sure to take a picture of mine when it comes back from its 4-year. If anyone is having their batteries done soon, could you please take a digital pic of the unit with the cover removed and post it here? That'd be a great way to show that batteries are not cylinders of compressed gas. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

you don't do anything to the satalite itself, you just broadcast "yankee doodle" on the same frequency and with as much power as you can come up with. It's sort of like trying to whisper to your neighbor at a Metalica concert. One signal just over-powers the other. One question I had though, is how accurate are military GPS's? Can GPS be trusted to solely accurately deliver a weapon? Moreover, now that 'selective availability' is pretty much turned off worldwide, is there a difference in accuracy between the military units and civilian ones? How? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Hmm. I assumed it was just a switch, and the different lights were controlled by logic the camera. It'd be an interesting test though, and easy to fix - just put the switch back in if it doesn't work. As I said, you need to cut the wires for most good install jobs anyways. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Yes. Pulling both outside toggles will do the same thing, too. Initiating a downplane is a very legitimate solution to two out and flying side by side. Make sure you have enough altitude, though. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

That's pretty weak. Is that the best you can do? I told you my sources, which is what I heard and saw on the video. I said I thought it sounded like an African American male voice, but I was pretty clear that was just an assumption. Once you've gone up and looked up the words 'ad hominem' in the dictionary, please come back and let us know if you've got anything contructive to offer. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Yup. The numbers I heard floating around was roughly $350,00. I imagine the cost of the runway upgrades will probably come close to that! (Hiya Kathy!) _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I tried answering this earlier in the morning. I got to about 45 names, and simply had to give up. I've been wasting my time on this board for close to 4 years now, and I can't even guess how many I've met total. Naming them would be an embarassment to the many that I'll forget. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
