  1. Your camera is probably detecting the Macrovision copy protection. There's a pretty good chance that you can turn Macrovision off. Google will have all of the answers.
  2. This is a trick. Your browser really goes to 211.75.58.108/pp/update.htm. A creative person could go and find out who owns the netblock that the IP is part of. I'm guessing it's a compromised personal computer.
  3. Speaking as someone who cleaned both men's and women's bathrooms as part of my job for nine months, women are far neater than men. I mean, I never found pee on the walls and ceiling of the ladies room. Of course, there are the occasional women who try to flush their, ummm, feminine hygeine products instead of using the tiny garbage can that we provided specifically for that. Guess what ladies: Those things clog the toilet, which means some minimum wage 16 year old has to come and fish it out. Thanks a lot.

    Reality TV...

I like Cops. One of very few "reality" TV shows that is actually real. I also like Survivor, but I have no illusions that it's any more real than a soap opera.
  5. I suggest skydivingweather.com. I think it surpasses dz.com in terms of features.
  6. I think this was discussed before. Somebody had to make the call whether to put Russia in the Europe category or the Asia category. Seeing as how most of Russia lies on the Asian landmass, it seems like a reasonable way to do it.
  7. Testing and replacement (if necessary) is free. If the customer wants a new ripcord but doesn't want to wait for testing, then they can buy a heavily discounted handle (which I think is a pretty good deal considering that it looks likely that most of the recalled handles will test fine and not have to be replaced).
  8. My cell phone # is on the web. It's the first result if you search my full name on Google. My home phone is also on there. Please don't call that one.
  9. There was a Baywatch with skydiving once. David Hasselhoff had a double total and, after unsuccesfully attempting a Mr. Bill with a skysurfer, went into the ocean at terminal. He lived through it, of course.
  10. 0:0:0 I got out of work at 3:30 today and though about grabbing my gear and racing up to East Troy, but I decided to go home and get some work done. 7 hours later I haven't done a thing. Drat. See y'all at Diez De Mayo.
  11. Yes. And yes. And I consider emailing my public key to be safe enough for a low-to-medium dollar amount transaction. In that case, what I am mostly worried about is a an under-paid ISP employee reading my email or some script kiddie sniffing my packets. If we want to up the paranoia level a little bit, he can call me back and read off the checksum. There are several documented cases of impostors spoofing keys or (in at least one case) of obtaining legitimate signed keys in the name of a well known software company.
  12. Just a quick note for the Chicago-area dz.commers... Adrenaline Rush is playing at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL for (I think) the entire season. I believe that the film is free with park admission ($40 for adults, $10 parking).
  13. "TSA is spending a ton of money and not getting anything done," Indyz said of the 17-month-agency.
  14. Actually, it's very secure. The whole point of public key cryptography is that you can freely disseminate your key.
  15. From the Cockeyed "How Much is Inside" files: How Much is Inside a Million Dollars (I urge everyone to read all of Cockeyed.com, immediately. It is hi-larious.)
  16. Speaking as somebody who has sat through a couple of Rantoul village board meetings with the WFFC, they don't really seem to have a whole lot of muscle to flex. Personally I would have, I dunno, maybe asked the WFFC why they were charging so much to camp (although it does seem odd to me too).

    geronimo!

You can check for yourself here. Aggie is the only one, and jt has something like 2300 posts to go.
  18. Get some do-it-yourself decal paper. You can print anything you want, and sticking it to the dial should be pretty easy, just be careful around the needle.
  19. There is a website so that USPA GMs can check licenses and ratings (you know, so if you are on the road and forget your license or something).
  20. Yeah, they showed up like days after I ordered a copy from Para-Gear
  21. Hmm, I'm schedule to work that day. Then again, I make the schedule.
