  1. We need to form a five person team (or two or three teams): Red Bull Flugtag Chicago
  2. This isn't from DZ.com. Have you installed any software off of the internet lately (Kazaa or other file sharing programs, Bonzi Buddy, Virtua Girl, etc.)?
  3. 0:0:0 Sigh. I'm doing weekend work for a former employeer, which is really going to fuck up the skydiving thing for the next couple of months. I will be at Hinckley or Sky Knights this Sunday if the weather is decent.
  4. Absolutely not! Thanks to Mayor Daley's foresight, now the terrorists will have to launch their attacks from any of the dozens of small, unsecured grass strips out in the suburbs, instead of a highly secured airport with a control tower. Daley has always had issues with Meigs. Destroying the field is his way of getting revenge on those who oppose O'Hare expansion, getting his park, and boosting his approval rating a few points (like he needs it) by convincing an ignorant public that he is helping to protect them.
  5. In the clip that Craig posted, it looks like she isn't even wearing the suit when she lands.
  6. This is a physics problem, thus I believe that an experiment is in order. Pull high and, leaving the breaks stowed, turn your canopy to fly north. Take your hands off of the risers and let the canopy fly on it's own. Observe any change in direction of flight. Repeat for the east, south, and west. My hypothesis is that the canopy will not turn, or will turn with some fixed speed regardless of the canopy's orientation into the wind.
  7. Thank god. I hate getting stuck behind some jackass doing 65 in the left lane on 294.
  8. I have about half of a pond swoop/walking on water joke, but I can't put it all together.
  9. Deleted: Replied to wrong post

    Farked!

Well, sorta. On their front page right now is a link to a British paper's story on the Ripley's ball drop: "Man drops world's biggest rubber band ball out of a plane. Bouncing does not ensue.". In the comments somebody linked to Brent Finley's post about the drop, and to a couple of pictures from Brent's site (which explains why the thread has 1000+ views all of the sudden).
  11. Landing a two-out is done without incident all of the time, but most of those are malfunctions where the reserve was accidentally released. If it was done intentionally, I would suspect that the jumper was using a triple rig, with two releasable "mains" and a reserve. Hooknswoop has done a few test jumps in which he succesfully flew two mains together.

    Apostrophes

I know! I haven't had to break put "Bob's Quick Guide to the Apostrophe, You Idiots" in a long time.
  13. - Snow Crash, Diamond Age, and Cryptonomicon, all by Neal Stephenson - Just about anything by Arthur C. Clarke - A lot of Rudy Rucker's work is good, especially the (real|free|wet|soft)ware books, and Spaceland (A novel that takes place in 4d space. Good for making your head hurt.)
  14. You can't, unless you can find somebody to scan it and post it for you. SQ1 or Para Gear might be able to get their hands on a copy. Call Ralph also sold a lot of Hornets and might have a manual somewhere.
  15. Simple things. simple things link Simple things (easier on the eyes)
  16. Oh yeah. There were also a couple of other kid detective book series that were really good. Hardy Boys and Tom Swift were also good.
  17. I did a six way. Blew the exit, but the rest of the jump went pretty well. I got the suit towards the end of the season last year, so every jump was precious.

    X-rated hypnotists

You can find more info (and a lot of conflicting opinions) by running a Google search on "stage hypnosis." Anywho, your thread title reminds me of a They Might Be Giants song. "He's a hypnotist... (duh-duh) Hypnotist of ladies... (duh-duh) Don't have a pocket watch... (duh-duh) Never counted backwards.. (duh-duh)"

    Um, Bytch?

There's a thread about it in G&R. Alti-2 told me "about 8 weeks" on February 7th, so unless their schedule has slipped, that's the first week of April.
  20. Get the blue body for sure. It's a tossup for me between the green and orange flames. Blue and orange are starting to become my colors, so I'm leaning that way.
  21. Transsexual nudity! There, I said it. Everybody who otherwise would have clicked on that can thank me later.
  22. I thought the same thing, but he did talk about Uhm Qasr, Basra. I'm guessing the tape is a couple days old, prior to our men and woman falling into Iraqi hands. Umm Qasr and Basra are border cities with Kuwait. It makes sense to reference those 2 cities since they would logically be under siege first. In fact, half of Umm Qasr is part of Kuwait. He looks better without the beret and glasses, doesn't he? He also apparently mentioned the brave fighting of a unit that had already surrendered.
  23. It's also in Norwegian Chronicle, a skydiving/BASE short film featuring a gratuitous bikini carwash scene.
  24. Well duh, the no personal attacks rule only applies to people who might actually read those attacks.
