divnswoop replied to crutch's topic in Events & Places to Jump
We should give Spence a handicap for having to spin that belly around. Ahhhh...the great 10th annual Hog Flop controversy! Some people just can't get unstable....I think its a center of gravity thing...... Oh the current Hop Flop Champion captain will be back to defend his title in hopes of another year of money, fame, and woman.....lol -

Plenty of votes for not wearing seat-belts.......still would like to hear a benefit to not wearing them.....I was at a DZ not long ago that has had a plane crash in the past year AND had the FAA come down on them for breaking a FAR's......I would think they would MAKE their staff wear seatbelts at this point.....but some didn't, even after handing them the loose seatbelt! .....
-
I agree.....but know it won't make a difference in some places..... Here is a poll I started (kinda ironicly) the week before the MO crash. Granted some may have voted a certain way just as a "joke" or whatever. But, I have seen many DZ's that follow the last two options... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2346398#2346398 ...but a crash will never happen to them.

PD Reserve wingloading 2:1 and higher
divnswoop replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
One at 1.9 and the other at 2.1. Flew great and had a nice flare on a hot no-wind day. Concerns? un-conscious cypres fire, landing while partially incompacitated, low reserve deployment without landing area options, and the list goes on. That's why I am looking forward to the announcement soon! (then upsize to a 143 or bigger) -
I don't think we should lobby for a FAR. One, I don't think we don't need them taking a closer look at skydiving. Two, some DZ's don't care about FAR's and break them anyway. Many places either don't know or just don't care what is "safer".

10 to 1 that he gets ate by sharks.......Oh wait I saw him not long ago....

So they charged AFF students that were over 200 extra? That money goes straight to the DZ? My bad, I haven't heard of that approach with AFF. What about 200+ tandems? Did extra money go to the TI or did it go to the DZ? Personally, if I knew the DZ was charging extra for weight over 200 lbs, I would make sure I was getting at least 50% of that. (for my extra risk) My limitations on heavy/ overweight people have came down the past 3 years. Too many were just unhappy about the jump because they were so uncomfortable. Having a 240lb person standing on your feet for 4-5 min was just getting old. Luckly, none of my couple thousand tandems have been hurt and I hope to keep it that way! (Well, i did have a woman break a nail cause she was holding her harness too tight. you would have though she broke an ankle the way she was whining under the parachute though)
-
Nice W tonight!
-
You should be a Tandem Examiner!
-
No she isn't a TI....BUT she isn't on her claiming she is and handing out advice. She doesn't think the student should pay extra for extra student risk. I agree. As TI's we both know the extra work and the issues on landing. Do you believe that DZ's charge extra *only* because of the extra risk? I have taken 255 lb() AFF students too. I believe they can cause additional problems that I wouldn't give to a new aff I. I didn't get paid extra for the jump and I believe they were a little more at risk on landing than somebody that was 150 lbs. So while I agree that 250lb tandem can cause additional issues and even risk for the I....The extra charge isn't because of the additional liability to the dz of taking the student.

Got first hand experience in this? So you break your arch to get to the little girls legs that are up on her chest???? ...I love this place!
