I think we are all in the same chapter, maybe not the same page! While I do see that heavier people "traditionally" have more accidents,(due to lack of abillity to control their body and the increased landing speed) I don't think thats why most dz's charge extra for them. If that was true they wouldn't give the $$ to the TI and keep it cause of additional "liability". BUT I have heard of the DZ keeping half.(% of profit) "Traditionally", small girls are more likely to get you in a side-spin. (but we don't charge extra for them, all the TI's just fight over them!!!)

Kelly, the reason we did it back home was because of the wear and tear on the Instructor. Once you start getting up in that range you can notice it and it makes the parachute ride more draining to fly.

As much as I agree we have to be big boys and girls....if something happens you know the backlash that will result towards the dz and plane owners.

When you checked for steerablility did you flare the canopy too? If it acted differently when you did, you have two options. Don't flare on landing or cutaway. I would choose the second one!

20 people landing the same time at Sugarloaf would be even more exciting than Marathon! I think there might be a runway/ Jet A, owner not wanting fun jumpers issue there too.

I hope everybody in the St. Louis accident was wearing their seatbelts. Unfortunately, that makes 3 Otters that I have jumped from that no-longer fly due to accidents. So, those 19 who replied that "it's your choice" OR "encouraged not to" I have a question. What do you feel are the benifits of not wearing your seatbelt? Or do you not care about it and it's your right not to do it? I guess it seems like such a simple thing that takes less than a minute not to mention its a FAR

LOL...I noticed that today! With temps up to 118 at the end of last week....107 seemed "pleasant" today....Hell they are talking lows in the upper 80's this weekend! I would suggest that you all cover your plants and bring your animals inside or make sure they have warm bedding!! Jeff, .....I'm beggin to come back to 95 and humid. (which I am tmr..you heading to the dz?)

Yeah the CR makes those 5 hour layovers in ATL a *little* easier!!! .......till you almost get kicked off your connecting flight cause your running your mouth off to the attendents!

So do you keep your belts on till 1000'? And if the "shit goes down"at 700 feet are you going to release it, blow the door and jump?

Alright, I have been watching some military jumping lately and been thinking...What is the policy at your drop zone on seat-belts? It has been over 12 years since the "large" fatalities due to crash landings without seat-belts. There have been a few here and there without being hooked up, but it seems it isn't a big deal to some people. If you answer either of the last two and wear your seat-belt......Does it bother you that people who are sitting aft of you don't wear them? Comments?
