Skydive Michigan: Marshall, Mi Forced to Close..
divnswoop replied to kenneth21441's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Right on! Sounds like a better plan....if most people would spend as much energy on changing something they dislike about uspa as they would bitching about it....it would be a different uspa. ....I bitch to my Regional Director on a regular basis.... -

Well then let the "masses" speak and do away with USPA. I'm sure the FAA will be far less political, more efficient and run the skydiving world a lot better. btw....where was this poll taken? # of uspa members polled? -

Then maybe we should refrain from bashing USPA until we know the details. And if USPA sucks that bad......maybe you should stop supporting it with paying dues. Do tandems at a non-uspa dz....you'll probably make more $$. -
Dave.....do you know anybody on the S&TA committee to address your issue?? ;) swoop

in order to swoop do you need to do a hook turn?
divnswoop replied to zahiv's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
This method is a very good tool to have in your pocket, but will bite you FAST! The last guy I watched do it wrong hasn't walked or fed himself in a month. It demands all of your attention. You shouldn't use it just to stay close to the camera man. The number 1 priority using this maneuver is coming out of brakes at the proper altitude. It's very easy to get sucked into holding the brakes to long and underestimating the surge. Swoop -
Uh....thanks for the awful image of you and Kinger with his tight shorts pulled down aro.......... AHHHH!!!

.....Mark and I are packing the Otter up right now!!! For those yankee's coming down, it was a sweltering 76 degrees here in Palatka yesterday. Had to run the air-conditioner to stay cool. Of course, I saw on the news there was something keeping all my friends back north cool too. swoop (preparing for 2 weeks of sure Hell!!)

Mark says hi, and he misses you two trolling around the dz at night. (....just not the same down here...) Hey Nate, is there anything I should know about the holiday party? Anyone travel with rig during "orange" threat level??
divnswoop replied to ccowden's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Chris, I carried my rig onboard at Jacksonville, Phoenix, and Las Vegas airports last week and didn't have any trouble at any T.A.S. station. After getting through, I asked every stupidvisor what the policy was and got a uniform answer from all three. "If the airline allows it, and there is no CO2 cart, it's ok." Sounds like they have all been edumicated on these parachute thingys.....swoop -
OKAY OKAY!!!!! I'll pay up!!! I just wasn't comfortable with $55 AND the personal favors.... ....can i still get a sticker?...... Swoop..(surrounded by 5 inches of snow )

So did the canopy break his leg? Or was it the poor decision/guidance of both downsizing the canopy AND going to a elliptical/higher performance canopy. Everybody downsizing should proceed in small single steps. If you switch to a different wing w/ different flight responses, you should maybe think about keeping the same size or even go up. I do agree with you that there should be a standard. However with all the different canopies(square, ellip, crossbraced, airlocks) actual square footage should just a piece of your decision. Shawn

All my condolences to you and the family at Finger Lakes. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to hang with Tommy much, but his spark for life and skydiving was very apparent. May God bless him on his next journey and you know he'll have a tall guinness in hand for you the next time you meet. Swoop
