Sky, Pepperell is one of the 3 busiest DZ's in New England and is open 7 days a week. the normal standard is to have 200 jumps and be current before doing a WS jump. Tonysuits has introduced a beginner suit "the Intro" that can be flown with as few as 100 jumps. Try and find a WS instructor for additional questions and to find out how to get started. www.flockuniversity.org has contact info for "Flock U". Blues Skies.

I watched the news conference yesterday late in the day explaining (or trying to) what went wrong. I may have missed it but what is the reason his window of opportunity is now gone for 3 months or so? Is it just weather patterns that are going to become more unfavorable? I really hope he gets to make his attempt....he has tried so hard.

I jump at Pepperell and we have a big wingsuit group there called "Flock University". The other "big" DZ's in the area are Jumptown and Lebanon. All three are great, fun, safe places. Most jumpers tend to do a lot of jumping at their home DZ but also find time to make it to other DZ's either for a change of pace or for an event or boogie. I often end up doing jumps at 10 or more DZ's per year. I make it out to J-Town every now and then so I will see you around. Good luck and blue skies.....

I am kind of pissed off at TSA right now. I just got back from Mexico and bought a super super premium bottle of tequilla (> $100) from the duty free shop and had it taken at the connecting flight's security check-point. I asked ahead of time and was told (albeit it was incorrect info) that a sealed bag could be brought on-board the next flight. As I was allowed of to bring it on the first leg of the flight I thought that was reasonable. When I got to security the biatch just snapped it up and told me to scram. I had no option to check it (as there was no time to wait in the line again) or claim it later. I am not pissed she was following the rules but she was nasty, nasty, nasty about it and did not attempt to figure out how I could check it and get back to the front of the security line. Damn I was looking forward to that bottle.....

Nice job with winning third place in the DZ.com video contest! -
1772 1972. A seach in 1772 would not have yielded much.

I was about 15'th out on the first Jet jump ever at the WFFC. I camped out for a few hours at the table where I knew they were going to sell tickets (which we knew were going to be numbered) and was something like ticket #18. That is how we loaded the jet so we could be the first ones out. They fucked up the hand signals a little bit and we were going much faster than intended AND ended up landing (many of us) miles and miles away. I think I was about 8 miles away. If I remember correctly Jerry Bird was one of the ones in charge of the exit and spot.... Yes, it injured a few people. 2 or 3 people had dislocated shoulders and MANY people lost shit on exit. One guy lost a complete camera and helmet set-up and a bunch of people lost stuff like goggles. The tumbling was kind of comical....it was like some of the people forget how to arch. I tumbled a bit but got stable pretty quickly. I think the adrenalin and rush of being on the first pass screwed some people up a bit. Personally if I had never jumped I doubt I ever would have gotten stable.....may have been able to pull but would not have been belly to earth.

New Maryland dropzone needs your support!

...that's too bad. -
Quite a few of the cities they have listed have a Skydiving "event". I even got a pop-up window specifically for skydiving when I clicked on one of the city links. On the homepage they show a pic of a tandem next to this paragraph: after-work dinner and a movie, dance lessons, a hike, poker night, roller blading or biking... to amazing adventures like hot air ballooning, hang gliding, skydiving, skiing... and even trips to fun and exotic places around the world! ...I alerted my DZ as Boston was listed. Hopefully we will not hear more horror stories about this Skyride like "competitor".

In 1992 I saw a very experienced jumper convince a newbie (about 50 jumps) to turn a naked Cessna jump into a little more than that. At altitude he hopped on her and they rolled out the door in full coital bliss. I still have bad memories....both of 'em were kind of nasty.

...yup, I agree. Nowadays if you swim with the dolphins you will end up swimming with the fishes!

I haven't found an answer to the question about names in profiles being removed. Was this done intentionally? I had not being able to see someone's name when I click on the link to see their profile.

I am using IE 6.0 and it is definitely way slower than before. As Mik said it takes between 5 and 30 secs to do anything after I click a link. Firefox, used at home, did not appear to be slower. Definitely noticeable today with IE at work....almost unuseable right now.

....well, that is comforting. RIP Sharky.

Don't like the "stuff" on the left
skyjumpsteve replied to ZigZagMarquis's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
At home I have a Mac cinema display and the new changes were not that bad....back at work today though on a normal 19" monitor and the "my stuff" on the left with ads does really make reading the forumns more difficult. I didn't know what everyone was complaining about...now I do. Horrible. -

It doesnt matter how low or high it was, low pulling isnt cool. It can get you (and us) banned from a dropzone if its done too often. at all
