uh, i could be wrong here....but I think the chutes they use for parasailing are quite a bit different, arent they?
-
heh, reminds me of a video I saw on headdown.net a while back....BASE jump off of a Jesus statue. 25 stories....damn....I'm gonna invest in a BASE rig someday...
-
sheesh...thats a lot of handles, not to mention repacks... glad your ok though
-
Eh, dont worry...MTV likes to air things over and over and over and over and....well....you get the point
-
hahahaha.....now THAT would be sweet!

OK, its not quite THAT cold (yet) here in NY....lol.
-
"Is it FREEZING cold where any of you are?" Pretty much.

I think all the mainstream ones pretty much suck...but I voted for Dropzone cause its the only one I've seen all of (just seen pieces of the rest)...

Well, I dont really have a home DZ in New York yet. I just moved back up here from Florida, and between the weather and my financial situation I havent been able to jump. I plan on doing most of my jumping at The Ranch in Gardiner...which is closer to the city...but hell, I will definitely give Mohawk Valley a try, its a hell of a lot closer....

I've never been there...but its about an hour drive away from me. I really know nothing about it, so I can't give you much advice...but let me know when you're gonna come, I'll drive out and meet you there. Good luck... -Marshall

"I just hope they're patient." I dont think you should have a problem finding someone to help you out. I was lucky enough to have Scott Miller (of Performance Designs) teach me to pack. He was awesome. I'm sure he's extremely busy, but he still took plenty of time to give a bunch of us very individualized, one on one training- and to this day, if I see him around the DZ he is always more than willing to help out or if hes too busy he will find someone who can. Sorry, I got off on a tangent there...but anyways, like I said, I think there are plenty of people out there that are more than willing to help out, just ask!

I must say, this thread is rather hilarious....I just shot mountain dew outta my nose and onto the computer screen....thanks, lol!

By...."ran out of gas" do you mean that the light came on or the engine(s) quit? Either way, as a pilot, I have to agree with Mike that its totally unacceptable for a pilot to run out of gas...

Sounds like you had some awesome jumps...congrats!!!
-
Seriously though...I'd love to try to make it down there sometime. Wouldnt be this semester though- travel schedule is full....gonna try to hit X-Keys sometime soon, doing some skiing in VT in March, and maybe even take a quick trip back to DeLand to see all my friends that I left without saying goodbye to. But sometime I definitely gotta see if TX is everything its made out to be!!

Dont taunt me AggieDave...or I might show up at a dropzone near you, lol!!!!!

Wow. It was almost 60 here in western NY today.... and sunny!!!! Theres usually several feet of snow on the ground this time of year...this has been the mildest winter I have ever seen. Must be when I moved up from Daytona Beach I brought it with me, lol. Anyways....there were actually a couple small DZ's operating today- but unfortunately I couldnt jump (I did get to fly though)... HELLLLLP, I'm getting spring fever and its only February!!!

"hope the new job gives you lots of jump $." Luckily, it sure will. I might even buy a new rig. Its not all bad that I cant make it...after the first month or so taking weekends off wont be a problem at all. In fact, if my schedule works out...maybe I'll head down to the "Screw Puerto Rico" boogie, lol.
-
I could be wrong (its been known to happen )...but I would guess that the fabric markers you can buy for clothes wouldnt hurt anything...
-
Sorry guys, but I'm not gonna be able to make FreezeFest. I just started a new job not too long ago, so I really cant get much time off yet. Unforunately I'm working next weekend, so I guess I'm outta luck. Hope you all have an awesome time!

Yeah....I'm gonna agree. Whuffos is a much more...uh....unique name than "groundhogs". And besides, shes right...people would still call them whuffos...

I've actually had a few skydiving dreams lately. Just the other night, I had a dream that somehow I got my own main wrapped around me, but managed to get the reserve out. I landed safely with my main wrapped around my entire body (incl. my face). I think. It was confusing...lol.

I never did a tandem for my first jump. Started right off with AFF. Not too scary I guess, but it sure seemed like it at the time!

Hell yeah dude, go for it. My parents are the exact opposite. I was gonna put this in its own thread cause it was so funny, but its sorta fitting here so: My parents had to buy a new car. They ended up getting a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT. Very nice car. Then they come to me with this "proposition." They tell me that they will transfer the registration over to my name, and the car will be MINE...with one string attached- that I give up skydiving. I about fell out of my chair laughing. Give up skydiving for a freakin car? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Gimme a break. I'll continue to drive my ten year old, $1500 truck until it dies (at which time I will buy something else of equal or lesser value), just so I can keep skydiving. The wonderful experiences I've had and the awesome people I've met would never add up to a measly car, no matter how nice it was. Anyways, just thought I would share that with you- if you have parents that are willing to support you, GO FOR IT!!!

Ah....do a search....someone asks this about once every other week, lol. I'll give you a hint......50 to be an Enthusiast.....
