"Ummm...turns around a point????? What the hell are you supposed to pick out???" LOL....well....back when I took my Private ride....he made me do S-turns over a road, directly into turns around a point (over an intersection). But then again....its not like theres any landmarks near my hometown anyways.....I was expecting to have to do turns around a cow (or maybe, just maybe...a SHEEP!) ...and THAT, ladies and gentlemen...was my 300th post!!!! Beeeeeeeeer!!!!!!!!!!

"Aren't Grandma's Great..." Indeed.
-
Ahhh, that would make MUCH more sense....
-
"Ain't it great!!!" Yup....I dont have that oppurtunity....I think if I went on the computers at work to post they'd prolly shitcan me, lol.
-
"...and I get to have a hot toddy." Is that the same as a whiskey sling? My grandma made me one of those once, sounds like the same stuff....sure worked good
-
"I work so hard during the rest of the day..." LOL....at the time you posted that...you had precisely 4693 posts. Just thought I'd point that out

Yeah....after Sept. 11th, and after that stupid kid flew into a building in FL.....apparently people get nervous now when planes linger around large landmarks....
-
OK...I found it...it was on Joe Jennings site: http://www.joejennings.com/RobH.htm "Rob took up skysurfing and when he had around 40 or so jumps..."
-
Paul, I *think* thats where I got it from. I'm looking now but dont see it. If not, I will post the website when I find it...i know its around this here internet somewhere
-
Kinda going off topic here, but...every time I read something like that, I wonder to myself if the FAA shouldnt have more strict requirements to get a pilots license. I've spent a lot of time recently flying as a safety pilot for some guys working on their instrument ratings at my local airport (hey, I'm not a CFI yet, so I gotta build hours somehow

Nice paint job!!!
-
Awesome pics, by the way!!
-
Just curious....but I think I read somewhere that Rob Harris first jumped a board at 40 jumps... Maybe it was a typo?
-
OK, thanks guys! I should have thought that post over before I wrote it, lol. What you said makes perfect sense, and now I see where your coming from...anyways...thanks for clearing that up! Blue skies, Marshall

"Freeflying........is safer and all around less trouble." I dont really agree with that (although I have yet to try skysurfing). I think its more a matter of different TYPES of risk....yeah, in skysurfing you can red-out from a flat spin which causes your cypres to not fire....however, in freeflying there are probably just as many potential dangers, they are just different. I dunno, thats just my take on the subject...someone feel free to correct me if I'm way off....

OK, heres what I know about camping there. No, they dont have power hookups, BUT....they often run a big long extension cord from the packing hangar over to where people camp (I know cause I tripped over it playing frisbee once ). Oh...and the Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn both have discounts like someone already said....I think I paid $55/night for a really nice room at the Comfort Inn for 2 people.....
-
Just a thought, but...they wouldnt be too hard to make really. Take a tracing of a creeper from the DZ, lay it onto plywood, cut it out and find some decent caster-type wheels and you'd be all set. Probably cheaper....

NO CRUTCHES!!!! - In case anyone is keeping up....

"Geez, I didn't even say "BOOBIES" Yes you did! Glad to hear you're getting better Pyke...hope you get back in the air soon! -
OK, so maybe I'm not crazy. I read the article, that must be what I was thinking of...thanks Andrea!
-
oops, nevermind. I just checked...looks like I am imagining things again...lol.
-
Im too lazy to look, but isnt there a DZ in Marathon? Or am I imagining things again?
-
Not really....the school has to approve how much the loan can be for. You cant just say, oh, i want what my tuition is gonna be plus $5k. Doesnt work like that...belive me, I tried...
-
Dunno, but I have a friend who works in it....I can find out. Or maybe someone else here knows....
-
I did. Well, kinda/sorta. I was an Aeronauctical Science (pilot) major, which meant that I had to take out extra loans for flight training. The money from those loans was mine, and as long as I didnt finish the flight courses all at once I could keep getting money (its a little more complicated than that...but you get the idea). So I used some of that money for AFF and gear and stuff...but come to think of it, I'm really not sure how someone in a "normal" college situation would be able to do this.... Blue skies, Marshall
