  1. For Chrissakes, people said the same thing when Kennedy was elected, they said the same thing when Clinton was elected. Clinton got a blow job and turned over a pretty good budget to Lil' W. That said...take your exact words and apply them to McCain as president facing down Chavez (Oh yeah, he won't meet with Chavez) or facing down Putin, Jintao, Triet, or other volatile world leader....and blinking like he did tonight. McCain looked like he was ready to throw down a couple of times tonight rather than word it out. Face it, McCain isn't as literate, educated, nor intelligent as Obama. He's only more experienced because he's almost twice Obama's age. Wouldn't you rather have the redwood forest standing quiet, strong, and literate, not flustered by the windbag blowing bullshit cannon balls in his face?
  2. I didn't say "music" is 70% of video, I said "sound" is 70% of video. And many tests have proven that statement accurate. Get used to drinking mud, because you can't afford a license to use popular songs. End of story. So...you won't get your panties in a wad when I come to your DZ, jump your rig and wear it out, without asking your permission? Because it's the same thing. Yes, much of what is on YouTube is illegal. And YouTube is diligently working to clean it up so they're not liable. They have an interim grace period with many of the various labels. Yes, it *is* land of the free. You're free to write your own hit song and use it in your tandem videos. As a songwriter, I'm free to collect whatever monies the market will bear for the songs I write. And I'm free to pursue anyone who impinges my freedoms by illegally using music or images I've created, words I've written, or products I've developed. Funny how freedom works that way. Not quite. Overplay dilutes the value of a song. I think even 5th graders figure that one out. To clarify one more point for thost that didn't get it in the first act...when you buy a CD, you don't "buy" a song. When you download a song, you don't "buy" the song. You purchase a LICENSE to listen to it. Nothing more. You don't purchase any right to do anything with the song other than listen to it. Bringing up families and Disneyland structures is fairly absurd, but you already knew that, so we'll just let that one slide right by. Either way, once again you've brought this subject dangerously close to Speakers Corner, so we'll bring it back on track. Talk about options, talk about where to find legal music sources, but you're not free to talk about what's stupid and what isn't regarding existing laws. That's what Speakers Corner is for. Go there, if you want to debate the merits of copyright.
  3. the wide screen mode of a PC1000 is a stretched mode, so it's not a quality image, based on the standards we strive for. However....various DZ's will have different requirements.
  4. Damn, I'm movin' to Vegas, Ba-by! Does Utah still not require a helmet. Years ago I rode without one most the time. Utah still does not require a helmet, and it's one of the reasons I still live in Utah. Glad I lived.
  5. But you see...you remove the artist's right to allow or not allow you to use their music. You might be willing to allow anyone to use your video for free, even if they give you credit. Problem is, what about when fundamental oil worshipers use your video to create a free, online video extolling the evils of skydiving and how only horrible live-sheep eaters that beat kittens for fun are skydivers? Free or not, you've taken something that doesn't belong to you, used it to make your work appear better, and benefit you. You benefit whether you do or don't make money. Your video *looks* better because of the music you choose. Sound is 70% of what the audience sees.
  6. According to CNN's polls both local and national, Obama handily won. Online poll-85% say Obama won Local Ohio sample-67% say Obama won Local Ohio sample-7% of undecided say Obama changed their mind in his favor. CNN's Electoral Prediction Map has Obama at 277 electoral votes vs McCain at 174. 66% of polled viewers felt Obama more clearly expressed his views. 80% felt McCain spent more time attacking his opponent. 56% say Obama appeared to be the stronger leader. 70% said Obama is more likeable during the debate vs 22% feeling McCain had the more approachable personality. FoxNews isn't quite as extreme, but even Fox seems to think Obama was the leader in this one. But...their polls are probably as accurate as the DZ.com polls. Personally, I thought McCain was at his strongest and most definitive.
  7. Amen. Riding in Southern Nevada in July is ridiculously painful, even with only a skid-lid. Funny...in Nevada you can have anal sex, carry a drink in one hand and a firearm in the other on Las Vegas Blvd, and smoke weed in your own home...but you gotta wear a helmet on the road.
  8. If his smarmy, condescending, childish, and arrogant presentation of this evening are any indication of his desperation....you're probably on the right trail. At the very least in this debate, Obama defined the term "Gentleman from....." Several times during the debate, McCain reminded me of the smart-ass kid in class always raising his hand screaming "Ooo ooo ooo, choose me!" before the teacher was finished.
  9. Anyone who thinks anyone who rides without a helmet is an idiot, is an idiot.
  10. Maybe you missed a few search terms/words? The lens test thread has a lot of info too. First question is "how wide do I go?" Inside video is usually quite wide, outside video isn't. Then think "budget?" Lens adaptors can easily cost as much (sometimes more) than the camera. Then wonder about exposure/snag hazard. Resolution questions are answered in the above search links.
  11. The dropzone should be able to make as many copies for you as you'd like to order. VOB is a video object. All DVDs contain VOB files. If your PC can't play it, it's because you don't have an MPEG decoder on your PC, and making copies won't help that. You need a DVD player on your computer.
  12. As mentioned in PM, the TG1 is HD, so it's a higher quality by far, than a PC1000. IMO, buying a camera that is already discontinued because it fits your helmet isn't the smartest move, I'd probably be taking a hacksaw to the helmet. either that, or looking for cheap used vs "best discontinued." Or, looking for the cheapest thing that will get you by. Even the best DV cam can't touch the newer HD cams overall, so why spend a bunch of money when you'll be replacing soon anyway? For example...our DZ is all wide-screen in 2009, no more 4:3 media. So....you probably wouldn't jump the PC1000 at our DZ as a tandem vidiot. You might wanna find out what your DZ is expecting, if you're wanting to shoot tandems.
  13. We can put this statement to the test shortly I'd been led to believe the Ghost 2 was short to follow the Phantom 2 bought a Tony Mach 1 instead, and have ordered another Tony for solo flights vs flocking. Although...I would like to try a Ghost 2 when they come on-line.
  14. yeah.... Nationals are trying a new video program... And it was a combination of chats between Mark Kirschenbaum over too much beer, I think. So... heading to Nationals as soon as sun sets on the wingsuit weekend in Utah. Looking forward to being at Nationals though, because I get to cross the street and look at my new Voodoo being built by Rigging Innovations! Everyone who is a cool wingsuit flyer will be in Utah this weekend. Everyone who isn't...isn't.
  15. PHX. Flights are VERY reasonable right now. Just bought a ticket to PHX for this weekend (nationals) and fare was $250.00
  16. Eloy has cold nights but beautiful days... Planning on spending the holidays in Eloy, I think.
  17. If you've read the sticky, you've done a Search? CX7 C12 HC5 HC9 SR12 with memory card HC52 HC62 are all current, tested models. Each has it's own caveats. Now you've got some terms to search.
  18. I have to disagree. If an EXPERIENCED jumper calls for a go-round or a 90, then that's different than a jumper with 100 jumps calling for it. Several variables may be taken into consideration. A-Does everyone know what the winds are doing? B-Did prior sticks hose the slot? C-Was someone not suited up and ready, so the stick was late getting to/out the door? Sometimes shit happens and you CAN'T make it back if this is rare and not the norm, it's not fair to say the DZ is unsafe, but rather that conditions prevailed and conspired to prevent landing on the DZ. I've got quite a few jumps at the DZ in question; I've watched the owner and staff stand down due to wind. They were shut out all day this past Fri-Sat, and stopped operations early on Sunday as a result of wonky winds. You get what you pay for, but at 13.00 a ticket, what you pay for also involves other jumpers getting out on time. I do understand, it's easy to pick at a DZ at which you've never jumped, but this DZ is as safe as any, and safer than most, IMO.
  19. Your friend is wrong. All countries save two, are signatories of the Berne Convention, and all but a handful are signatories of the DCMA. What *is* different are the punishments and consequences in a couple Scandanavian countries. There will always be pirates and ilegal users of software, music, and other IP. Some folks are born without a conscience and just don't care. Some use pirate ware to test out software before buying. Personally, I've been on that road a few times, and have no issue with that particular use of illegal tools if the manufacturer doesn't offer a demo/trial. Cinemacraft used to not offer a demo, so most of the pro video cats were using an illegal crack to test it before spending 5K on an encoding software. But....in my case it turned into a spend/purchase.
  20. if you buy a CD, rip it, and sync it to video, you're violating two laws: 1-Sync license laws 2-replication/distribution of copyrighted works you *are* reselling it if it's part of a tandem video, but re-sale isn't a factor in whether you're violating the laws or not. Copyright violation is now criminal in addition to civil, so be cautious in what you do. BTW, you don't buy a song when you buy a CD. ou merely buy a license permitting you to listen to that song. The only thing you own is a silver disc. You don't own it's content.
  21. I have a copyright for copy I've written, therefore I have a copyright on my copy write. I have a patent on the goat that I invented, and a trademark on the branding burned into the goat's butt.
  22. Were flights cheaper on short notice, I'd fly up there to see it with you.
  23. In Calgary Anyone know anything about this production? Looks interesting.
  24. Ringsights seem to be the very common cause of entanglements. Search Skydivingmovies.com and you'll see a few.
