  1. Copyright and patents have about as much to do with each other as jello and wedding dresses. The guy that invents the propeller that increases efficiency has the right to sell his concept/idea/prototype/working model for any price he sees fit. Market demand will determine whether he stays in business or not. No one is obligated to invent, create, design, nor develop anything for the public good without being able to profit and benefit from their creation or idea. It's fairly simple. You imagine it, you should be the beneficiary of your design/creation.
  2. Dude, can i go for a number two? Could I have one as well?
  3. I'm aware of 3 cutaways with the helmet, two were bonehead FTPs and the other, Im' not sure of the brand/make. All three videographers are alive, all three recovered their helmets, and all three lost functionality of gear. In one of the FTP cases, the helmet was still usable (was entangled in main).
  4. not something I'd class as "interesting" but rather a sign of what I predicted over 3 years ago, and wrote about recently in Parachutist. Identifying music is now completely automated. People are gonna start being busted for it when they upload it. A DZ isn't the same as an individual. People have little choice but to either run a risk or get honest/straight. Universal Music Group and Warner both have limited agreements with YouTube. No DZ as an entity can benefit from those agreements, but individual students and videographers can, depending on choice of song.
  5. Let's keep the current threads going if we can.
  6. What Dave said. There are switches made for all of the Canon cameras, or it's quite easy to custom-make the parts as well. There are at least 20 posts in this forum about making your own if you choose to not buy pre-made from Conceptus or Laszlo.
  7. First part of your post is historically accurate, but no longer true, although in this particular camera series, three is better than one. The other half is spot-on. CMOS is far more technically able than CCD, CCD is just about dead.
  8. If the helmet is slipping around on your head, a ringsight won't help. Does the helmet have a chincup?
  9. mebbe not, but you're still much nicer to look at. You have that big smile she doesn't have. And...you've got the gift of keep-down.
  10. yep...makes it damned hard for those that have no choice but to be at PIA...business for the coming year depends on it.

  12. For me it's the smell of gear... New gear, old gear, doesn't matter. I noticed that smell right away the first time I set foot on a dropzone and to this day it still makes me smile. +1

    PD Storm

i've been using a Storm of late, and like it very much. Most of my jumps are wingsuit jumps. I don't have the CRW setup that it appears LouDiamond has...Mine is a standard sport setup with a kill line/standard 9' (wingsuit) bridle.
  14. See you in SLC, Stoney! Gonna be a good time!
  15. So....Your posts make it obvious that you don't care for liberals. I can't help but wonder if you'd be as silly were it the conservative candidate being proclaimed as the Messiah, or at the least, fulfillment of [url "http://www.pensitoreview.com/2007/06/05/mormons-resurrecting-white-horse-prophecy-around-romneys-campaign/">Mormon prophesy? More There's a wealth of information on the prophesy of a religion much more predominant in the US than an off-the-cuff comment by an extremist.... But...he's not black, not liberal, and not winning the race.
  16. GREAT ground camera. For freefall...problematic OIS on steroids.
  17. An S&TA notices a newbie jumper getting on an aircraft with a very old rig. Says to the kid "Whatcha doin' on this jump?" Kid says "I'm going head-down." The S&TA says "Not with that rig. It's not free-fly friendly." The kid argues, but does comply. That weekend, both the S&TA and the kid find themselves at a boogie event on another DZ. S&TA overhears kid and a few others talking about doing a VRW jump. Kid is wearing same rig previously mentioned, and has around 30 jumps. Is the S&TA *obligated* to say something, or merely *should* say something because it's a general safety concern? Or is it acceptable for him to turn a blind eye to it because he's got other things going on, or perhaps it's none of his business at another DZ? [edited to add: This isn't a real event. The discipline and locations have been changed to protect the innocent in an actual incident.
  18. nicely done. A few things I'd change up to keep the rhythm you locked yourself into during the jumps, but it's very well edited.
  19. maybe it makes me schizo, but I have both cats and dogs... Once trained, neither *demands* much attention, but it sure is fun to give it to them, they give back as much or more than they receive.

This is NOT an exit shot and IS correct perspective.
  21. Would have been "Alive" in 1975.... Does a kiss at age 5 count? First 'real' kiss. Liz L, my foster family was moving to another state and she wanted to kiss me goodbye. She was 2 years older than me, I was 11. She kissed me while the washing machine was draining into the grey water ditch behind the barn. Can't remember how good or bad it was, just that it happened.
  22. ditto. I decided I wanted to become an instructor to help dilute the bad ones, and to be one of the good ones. I've had a couple less-than-capable instructors, and several very gifted instructors whom I look to as mentors. I think no matter what your technique may be, there will always be a small percentage that might be better reached by someone else. Part of being a good instructor (IMO) is identifying who those people are, and getting them in front of someone more compatible.
  23. Like the "the fix is in" mentality? Isn't that the campaign that Jeb Bush ran? Or was that in Ohio? I can't recall for certain so many "fixes" that they're all a blur now. Been a lot of them over the past 8 years. Maybe it was the telecoms? Mortages? I'm gotta ignore all that and vote against the ditzy chick with the bad wink and nice hair.
  24. yeahhummm....if'n y'all do tha math, even a chitlun can figger out that the coupla hundred "votes for smokes" doesn't offset Karl Rove's "Voter Caging" by even a teeny bit. Both parties cheat evidence is overwhelming on both sides of the aisle, so it's a ridiculous argument. One party defends it through intellect, the other defends it via "Gods will." We can debate/discuss the former. We can't argue with cult mentality.
