Panasonic has the P2 HVX200 that passes DV via 1394. Neither are suited for anything but high-end skydiving. Computer to computer is the future...might as well start planning now. Thumbdrives rock.

I can't answer it any better than you can. I've heard a variety of numbers. If they're coming from the government, they're lies. If they're coming from Wall Street, they're damn lies. You don't know any better than I do how many are losing their homes and how many aren't. If I were forced to base my estimation on the number of foreclosures I see in *my* area (which is a fairly financially stable area, not generally prone to be in line with national averages) then the number is a helluva lot more than 4%. I didn't suggest that victims are not responsible, I submit that they aren't "stupid." I understand. It's really, really difficult for smart people to comprehend that there truly are trusting people of lesser intellect that aren't able to ascertain what's being put in front of them. In fact, when it comes to the math of the whole thing, I'm pretty stupid myself and only by sheer luck do I not find myself in the same situation as my younger sister and another relative. The problems are two fold, and have been identified by everyone here already. Dazzle is for analog capture, and rarely works. Pinnacle is problematic enough. Use Windows Movie Maker, or better still, Sony Vegas (you don't need Platinum for that camera). Firewire from cam straight into firewire card on computer. computer will ding...and tell it to capture using the preferred application (either WMM or VMS). I always fly into ONT. Cheap, cars are cheep...and yeah...SoCal can be hot. But not as hot as Utah... Been to S'nore b'fore, Perris too. Know the drill. I'm actually asking for a friend/associate coming in from out of the USA who is doing a pre-prod visit to see if any sane skydivers in the world actually exist outside of wingsuiting.

Without a Cookie box, I can't imagine jumping one. Even then, I don't care for the loss of resolution, but I'm a resolution snob. I've never had my hands on the Cookie system for the TG. But have a tremendous amount of faith in Bomb420/Mark. I have a lot of experience with the TG. It's not a tough camera by *any* stretch. Without good protection...I wouldn't consider it.

None of the AIS mics are "great" but they're all better than nothing. IMO, I'd go with the BlueTooth systen not only for the reduced snag point, but you can also put the "lav" on the student if you wish.
