In most ways, an HC5 is superior to the PC1000. It's more or less current, it's higher resolution, and even in SD mode, a better image than the PC1000 can offer. It's shorter/fatter, but that doesn't impact much. Difficult to sidemount without the helmet being recessed, but it appears you've got that managed already.

$20.00 says no one wingloads the XS like Justin. Except maybe Scotty.
-
FWIW, profit margins on AFF students (assuming main side only) is approximately the same as a tandem (depending on how operation is run). I can think of several reasons an AFF might be bumped to the side for tandems; winds, instructor availability, time between loads, needed briefing/de-briefing time, other traffic in the air...we try to keep our AFFs happening on Sundays or later day Saturdays to help provide the students with the utmost in attention. But...DZ's do vary quite a bit... either way...the student should have been informed.

Do you suppose the XS generates much turbulence?

Funny how the exit polling showed something far different than what came out of the machines.. I guess when the pattern that has emerged has benefited those of you on the far right as it has... no wonder you want to hide the truth and prevent investigations. Shhh....cheating works. EVERYBODY knows that. Afterall, we're electing the most powerful man on earth, ordained by God. What do the little people know about that subject? Nothing. Voter fraud never hurt anyone who believes God willed it.

yea..I think thats part of the reason some people choose to take up gear more suitable for low-pulls, and do this kinda stuff in BASE jumping? Dont see what this has got to do with skydiving? That's why I asked. The visual difference between 2.5k and 1.5K is pretty well negligible, and (IMO) makes little/no difference to the visual perception of a ground track. But hey....what do I know? I always deploy by 3K, but my Altitrack lies about that once in a rare while.

More pronounced ground track and rush. huh?

Apparently the obvious wasn't so obvious, or they wouldn'ta been there, except the obvious seems to always elude one of the participants. I agree, they prolly didn't have all their teeth, and I'd wager they're related to their boyfriends.

Cuz he made a poor choice regarding who he was hanging out with that night. You shoulda been there, it wouldn't have happened. I shoulda been there, it wouldn't have happened.

Just a few more, you'll have your A license in cutaways! congrats, glad you're good.

"they" must be doing pretty well...because SO much of what she has to say reeks of swiss cheese (full of holes). Don't ask for specific examples...I'll have to get back to you after I can find one.

You did NOT do badly. we had three objectives; clean exit -you had that cold, lady. Stable flight with 2 waves, 2 practice touches-you nailed that, too. Straight flight and directional awareness (getting back to the DZ)-you kicked that one in the butt too. Speaking of butts...it was a pleasure to see you in that pink suit, even if it was just a tad tight in height. Flying above and behind you was a real chore. I'll post video in the next day or so.

Sorry, didn't mean to be confusing. I use the Conceptus switch and because the tact switches tend to fail after a couple thousand pix, I keep extras around. The rubber gets moisture in it, but that may just be my teeth. Although I failed to take pix of a couple rigs over the weekend, I'm absolutely sure someone in this forum has pix. here is a variation on the theme of what others around here (seems common in the West) are doing. Here is a Radio Shack switch I've seen a lot of.
-
Several videographers use a reed switch that is then wrapped in electrical tape as a moisture barrier. I meant to grab a photo of one over the weekend but failed to get er' done. The tactile switches Matt refers to are great, most of the tact switches I've seen are fairly fragile, hence the need to keep a Conceptus or one of Laszlo's switches around as a backup.

it was a lot of fun to see you there, Pat!

Sometimes It's Worth The Extra Effort

Excellent story, John. Thx for sharing -
Happy Birthday, Gonza! Was nice to meet you at Elsinore. Good luck overseas!

John Mitchell Valinda Mitchell Cookie from Aerodyne all made first flight wingsuit jumps at Chicks Rock this weekend. We had a couple more that weren't able to go due to 50kt winds aloft, but these three all did great. Cookie took Scotty Burns and I for a fun chase over the center of lake Elsinore, thought we were gonna go swimming, especially when I had a P/C in tow. Valinda did a kick ass job of flying a racetrack when the winds pushed us a little further south than we'd expected. Nice job everyone!

Nope...no one has ever thought about camera entanglements before...you might search the photo forum for the subject...there are a few vids as well. Mounting the lens and recording unit has never been easier. It's gonna be expensive if you want quality, but all the tools are available, easy to find, and easy to build into various helmets. Chris/Bonehead as built a couple very custom helmet rigs with HD heads embedded in them. It's a foolish prospect, IMO, and for the most part, exceptionally unnecessary.

Let's keep this to the thread that is already going?

Any chance Palin will hold her own during the debate?
DSE replied to freeflybella's topic in Speakers Corner
Someone owes me a monitor, now covered in spewed coffee. You can't possibly be serious? Even much of her own party thinks she's not terribly bright, and that's discounting her very scary religious beliefs. McCain made this election fairly easy for me; had he chosen a legitimate running mate such as Jon Huntsman, Bobby Jindal, or even Mark Sanford, he could potentially have had my vote. -

I don't believe she's evil, I think she's dangerously stupid. 'Course, i tend to think anyone who believes man hunted dinosaurs is stupid, and I tend to think the same of folks that believe the earth is only 5k years old, too. Fine if normal people believe in Santa Claus, but don't you think the potential POTUS should have a little more intelligence and/or education? -
...if a herd of Yuri flies through the forest, can anyone hear or see it?

Screw em'. It's YOUR home DZ. It's no reflection on you if they have a negative opinion of a dropzone that they've likely either never been to, or don't understand. Overall, I feel Lodi is a great place to skydive. One thing I'll tell you for sure...I've seen unsafe asshats at USPA dropzones get away with things that Bill won't tolerate for even one jump. Follow the few rules, and you're fine. Were it truly an "unsafe DZ," there would be a lot more craters in the ground around the place, now wouldn't there?

citation? I've never once in my life, had a carryon that weighs less than 30 lbs. Laptop, powersupply, and assortment of USB drives alone weigh 20 lbs. Plus my rig.
