Bob died about a year ago but thankfully I get it regularily so I don't need Bob anymore.

So I wake up this morning to find out that my furnace quit working sometime overnight. It's currently -8F outside (real feel temp of -24F) and 47 degrees and dropping in my house. Called the friggin' gas company to come look at my furnace at 7am and they said they would be out between now and 3:30pm. WTF!!! It's almost 10am and haven't heard a word. And I can't go into work because they said they can only give me a 20 minute notice of when they'll show up and work is more than 20 minutes away. So I sit here, freezing my ass off waiting for these fuckers to get here! Ugh! So it got me thinking. I wonder if they're waiting as long as possible so I'll totally be nippin' out when they get here. I wonder if they know that my maximum nippage point was about a half hour ago. The turkey's are done and over cooked and I'm starting to think I could start my own diamond cutting business. And before anyone posts something like "Let see pictures!", I would, but the batteries in my camera died last night. They say it goes in threes...camera, furnace...what's next? I think that when they show up I'll give them a hug after I take a tire iron to their knees.

Although I did pass out when I broke my big toe (walking down the stairs sober I might add), the worst pain I ever had was dental. I had a root canal done on a Thursday afternoon. On Friday afternoon I was having some discomfort. I called the dentist to ask if there's something wrong. The receptionist (who later was repremanded for giving medical advice with only her Mrs. degree) told me just to take some Tylonal or Advil and I would be fine. I found myself at the dentist office at 1AM Sunday morning (having not slept since Thursday night because of the pain) with another pain prescription (already on two different ones at this point), another antibiotic (already one one other), and anti-inflammitory drug, plus he gave me a shot of novicane laced with steriods so it would be numb for at least 10 hours so I could get some sleep and poked a hole in my gums to relieve some of the pressure. Multiple pain killers were so I could take them 1-2 hours apart and not become addicted. Multiple antibiotics were to make sure I was taking something that would kill whatever it was that was that was causing the excruciating pain. And the shot of novicane/steriods...well, that was just a gift from God. That was the worst pain ever. Period. Without a doubt. And I would say that even if I didn't slightly over dose on the pain killers (I hadn't eaten anything for a few days) and thrown up at 3am at a 24 hour Walgreens.

I spent 3 months of 1998 in Guanajuato, Mexico (dead center of the country...not like Puerta Vallarta or Cancun). While traveling on weekends, I saw and visited places, that if they were in the US, the US gov't would have shut down the whole town and the National Guard would have been called out. In Guanajuato, which was considered a rather wealthy city because of it's silver mines, you'd be lucky if the toilet actually had a seat to sit on. So I learned to squat rather well, especially when drunk. It was either "squat or fall in". After having that perspective on the world, I now say "fuck it!". At least it's running water.

That's hilarious! If and when I ever have a cutaway, I'm going to have to do that in my book too. I like the aircraft notation on the 764 1/2 jump! -
We don't normally do AFF at Wissota but I think Baldwin's AFF program is about $1200. Double check to see what that $2800 includes? For that cost, you could go up to Skydive Chicago and do their AFP program. $1900, jumps 1-15 plus 1 year USPA membership. I've heard good things about that program. They have a bunk house too, so lodging would be minimal. Editted to add: I just check Elsinore's website. The $2800 package is to get you to your class A license. For an AFF program to class A, from what I've heard, not such a bad deal. The thing that makes me happy I jump where I do is that the package is 13 solos, so if you want to progress with RW work in that time, you'll have to pay extra for coaching. I never had to pay for coaching, not even slots. But then again, I'm sure you won't be expected to help with packing student rigs, help keep the clubhouse or facilities clean, scrub toilets, etc.

Yeah...need to define warm. It's -2F here in the Twin Cities but we're suppose to get up into the teens by the weekend! Woo Hooo!!!! Heat Wave! Naked jumps at Wissota this weekend!

I bought a D-Link (I'm a cheap bastard) to put in my cheap new computer at home. Mine works just fine and how do I say this...picks up my neighbor's connection just fine.

"But I don't understand. He was such a loving and cuddley dog. He wouldn't hurt a fly. The guy must have done something to prevoke the dog and anger it." [/eyeroll]

So you know L.O. too, huh?
-
She's ancient. So you've known here since you were an adult?
-
I still say stay with it!!!
-
Same at Wissota...if you have your own gear, then you just pay the experienced jump prices. $14 for 10,000 (we're a 182 dz), then give or take $1 for every 1000'.

Stay with it!!!! You might have hit a plateau. This too shall pass. The other option is that you might be building more muscle than you are losing fat. Muscle weighs twice as much as fat. Keep that in mind. Just stay with it!!!! And don't think of it as a bad thing that you're not losing anymore weight. Look at is as a good thing that you're keeping yourself healthy! I'd rather be the way I am (which is far from a size 2) than worry about walking outside on a windy day. Not everyone can be model thin. Keep it up girl!!!! You're healthier for doing every little and big thing that you do! (I know, easier said than done).

Fallin4U...first...talk to your instructor about brake approaches. Don't take anything I have to write at face value. I'm just a pee-on in the world we call skydiving. It wasn't so much as a braked approach as it was a "Oh, fuck, the spot is long", "Oh, fuck, taking it as low as you can and do the deepest brake turn you can", "Oh, fuck no wind turned into 3mph winds and I'm going with the wind", "Oh, fuck, I'm going to hit the frozen plowed corn field", "Oh, fuck, I'm seriously going to hit the plowed corn field" and the "Flare, oh fuck, toes, oh fuck, knees" jump. I braked as long as I THOUGHT I could to avoid the field and come out of the pendilum effect and get a complete good flare. There was no wind when we took off. The pre-arrangement was to follow the first landers down. There was one person above me and I didn't want to land "against the established way" as to screw the person above me. Also, at my dz, you face major rath if you don't land in the pre-established landing direction or against the wind. They landed (total over 26,000 jumps between the 2) to the north (even with the small winds that picked up while we were in the air), I landed to the north. I should have turned NE to avoid the plowed field and not totally confuse the jumper above me. It was a jump of a lot of things that didn't go "right", and I made stupid decisions but I made them based on my lack of experience. So I learn and move on. I just got lucky that I didn't mess myself up more than I did.

I haven't worked out all week () (so it's been over a week and a half) and have pretty much stayed off it as much as I can. Don't get me wrong...I'm so grateful that I didn't do anything majorily bad but I don't want to keep having to go to the Dr. Ugh!
-
So it's Thursday PM and I had the fluid taken out on Monday AM. The fluid seems to be coming back more and more each day. Is that normal?????? It's not as bad as it was but I can now see little ripples go towards the inside when I press on the outside of my knee again. I don't mind going back to the Dr. but when I paid my $25 co-pay on Monday my exact thought was as I was writing out the check was, "There goes one jump from 10k and one jump from 5k". I just don't want to give up two more jumps if I don't have to.

Skydive Wissota--Chippewa Falls, WI S/L class + 5 jumps=$240 (Less if you do a tandem in the same year (incentive to continue) or print off the coupon on the website) 20 Jump Package=$500 (Includes instruction, "coaching", gear, everything you need) So that would be max $740 to get your class A license if you do it in 25 jumps. And we'll even teach you to pack without charging you $50 for a packing course. We're a non-profit dz and instructors pay their own slots based on the fact that you'll eventually pay if forward and you help with packing student rigs on FJC days, take out the trash, vaccuum the clubhouse, etc. I think I had 3 four ways before I got my class A (and yes, we turned points) and learned from literally the best! I love Wissota!!! And can't wait until I can take a student on their first two or four way!!!

You should come visit! I leave from the Twin Cities every Friday and stay 'til Sunday. You could fly into MPLS on a Friday afternoon, I'll pick you up, we'll head to the dz for the weekend (you can stay in the clubhouse so no worries about paying for a hotel), we'll jump during daylight hours, party it up at night and get you back to the airport Sunday night or Monday morning for the flight home. Free lodging, $14 jumps...a skydiving vacation doesn't get any cheaper than that!

I stabbed my ex because the lil' people told me to!

Sadly no. But no worries...there will be a second Wissota team this year. Jeremy_o and I are in the process of putting a team together. I think we might have recruited our 3rd member this weekend. Any suggestions for team names (that include "Wissota" of course) would be welcome!

You and me both!!! First thought after I hit was, "Shit I just broke both my knees!" but then I got up so no one would call 911. I was super happy to realize that I didn't break both my knees. But the super happy was quickly erased when I saw everyone go into the club house. They thought I was completely okay because I hopped right up. We now have rule (by my request), don't immediately call 911 if I don't hop right up. Make sure I actually need an ambulance before you grab the phone.
