Theology makes for interesting discussions. If anything can be taken from this, then for me it wouldn't be so much the problems organized religions have caused; but more the good that's came from them. I sometimes wonder if everything is becoming shit these days because people now chose to ignore the moral templates religions give to a society. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Right now I start to understand Vortexring a bit more, I owe him an exculpation What can I say? Apart from "toadyer!" 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

I looked back at your original post and saw nothing discussing action on your part - just a rant. Did you say apathy??? I do not ignore the shit. I have acknowledged there is shit in our society - but that doesn't make our society shit. I'm curious, what is your suggestion? What do you do about this shit? Or is ranting enough? If you look back again you'll also see (apart from childish ranting), the simple fact I've asked a question, and then given some simplistic examples of elements I perceive as being shit. It's something I do think worthy of discussion. But at the moment I'm still trying to figure out the numerous reasons why - I want to see what crucial factors are causing things to be shit - without doing so; how on earth could I then discuss methods or suggestions to deal with the problems? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Sorry you think so. I think your issues have much more to do with attitude and perspective. Is life really that bad? Is everyone you come across that horrible? Yes, there are many, many lazy fucks out there. And there are many people who are incredibly greedy. But really, society is in the shitter??? Very sorry you have to spend a few hours on the phone dealing with issues that you didn't cause - been there myself too many times. And sorry too that your internet access sucks. I have that issue now. But look at the happy side of those things. Wow - we are connected to people all over the world with the push of a few buttons. And we have so much information at our fingertips, that it's overwhelming. People created this - it didn't just happen. Yes, some people suck. But I wouldn't put the shit label on humans in general. There are a lot of amazing people out there doing a lot of good for society - through their jobs, their relationships, their raising of children, etc. Always look at the bright side of life... Look, your point is reasonably true, but I have an issue with it. We're undeniably surrounded with multiple shit factors concerning our lives and society. To then ignore them, to deny the situation explaining not everyone is shit, not all of society is shit, is fucking insane!! And it's only getting shitter! Another factor towards this is probably because so many people chose to ignore the situation! Didn't I mention apathy????? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

It's without doubt a key aspect for reducing the increasingly high level the shit-ometer is currently indicating.

Good point indeed. Not that it matters seeing as most Conservative policies these days are essentially too liberal in important aspects such as education. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Fair one square one. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Pretty funny - I suppose in such circumstances 'billy-big-steps' would be the order of the moment. Still, considering the commitment of Canadian forces around Kandahar at the moment, I'll avoid taking the piss. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

What a shit reply; it's rather obvious my rant equates to something more substantial than an issue with call centres. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Well, to an extent it was, but not in the sense you read it as; and then started getting all upset, like a fart in a bottle. Now, I don't exactly want you to burst into tears here, as I equally don't wish you to take things the wrong way, but do bear in mind the majority of my point wasn't entirely directed at you. But I did enjoy your temper tantrum though!

Now, now my sensitive little sausage, lets not get all upset.

Having witnessed the insane Christian fundamentalists living throughout the US I'd simply go off into the woods and pray over which religion to follow. With a bit of luck, and some guidance, the big man will insist you start your own religion. It happened to Joseph Smith - he started the Mormons through such circumstances. Pretty easy, no? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

But many do, even in todays (1st) world of universal education and ever increasing levels of scientific knowledge. In the USA, more than half the population uses religion to explain where human beings came from. More than half! (Who knows what the figure is in less developed countries, or Islamic republics). How can you look at that amount, then consider the far less knowledgeable societies that created the major religions of the world, then consider the creation stories contained within the major religious texts, and come to the conclusion that no-one ever meant to use religion to think about the physical world? How can you possibly do that? Hell, in most polytheistic religions actual physical phenoma are worshipped as Gods! Weather was controlled by Gods, the sea was controlled by Gods, the growth of your crops and mobility of your sperm - controlled by Gods! What you are saying flys in the face of common sense, historical record and observable fact. It's bollocks. Your attitude hit a nerve with me. I'm no member of the God Squad, and despite having a few doubts myself...there'll be a few people behind me at the Pearly gates I reckon, as I'm trying to bluff my way in, what hit a nerve is this: The amount of people who put an intellectual slant to their (dis)belief. It's as if they're so smart they know better and the believers are, of course, below their superiority. It's arrogance. Like the people at the opposite end of the spectrum, neither of you actually know. So like all arrogant people, you can all just fuck off. If you wish to express your opinions to gain knowledge, fine. To take the higher ground over something you don't actually know, but just have an over-inflated opinion of............. That surely means you're gay.

I've loads. Haven't you? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Of course, of course. C'mon now, I've a nice jacket for you to wear, the sleeves are a bit long but don't worry about that...in fact, on second thoughts, better can that idea..still, it'd be interesting to find out who you really are, someone suggested you're really JohnRich but I'm doubtful - so who are ya! I always believed a good dose of 'misery' helped bring around that mentality. From certain work I've done in my life I certainly had plenty of doses. Not so much in an extreme dramatic sense - more in a sense of having to do without; whether it was from sleep, rest, food and comfort, and what have you. So to later be in a position to have a hot bath, enjoy a cup of tea and a fag or simply lie in bed would be a great luxury. Even now, if I'm soon to be off to 'sandy places' I'll feel a bit envious of families out enjoying their weekend say; where come the Sunday evening they'll be relaxing whilst I'll be offski for months on end. But these are all aspects of ones life that are changeable. How can you change idiots in call centres? You can't even effectively avoid them. There are numerous means to get rich quick - but whilst I know some fairly successful well off individuals, not a single one of them; despite their wealth, called it a day and went off and retired to potter around the garden or go on a permanent holiday. They still have to phone the call centres - they still live their lives surrounded by all this unnecessary shit. Whilst I'm being a bit of a moany fucker it's only to make the point - I'm certainly aware of the numerous good things in life but I'm still utterly horrified at all the things shit - our societies are literally breaking down before our eyes and we're all too fundamentally self absorbed to notice and bother about it. The general apathy! 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

>Put your money where your mouth is biatch!!!!! hehehehe Of course; now run along like a good little girl and polish your police outfit... 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

And there's me thinking you were a police officer! Can you give Christel a spanking for me then? In fact, hang on a sec, I'll spank you both...

Won't be the first time.

OK then, Brit. Pull out your SMLE and rectify that shitty situation You know how society works. Since Old Darwin it's been called: Only the fittest will survive.. - So quit whining. Money rules, live it or leave it. (Sissies all around here .......) I have something a bit more effective than that, unfortunately I can't use it as I see fit. Still, what are your recommendations to leave it then? Accumulating huge wealth? And that's the problem, because the only other viable option is to conform and accept the shit situation. So I will whine about it. And you'll still read my whines. So behave yourself lady, or i'll have to spank you.
-
Remarkable indeed - unfortunately it so often takes the press to bring similiar matters to the general public knowledge, for the outcry to actually make something proper happen. And that's pretty despicable as it's so often the case. Still - it's nice to read of something positive happening from such situations - and the press making themselves useful too; even if it's only to appeal to peoples moral outrage and sell more papers... 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
