  1. Wow, you know how to type something into Google. My point is that a lot of the "changes" were really additions or clarifications. The only thing that has changed were the initial reports that OBL was armed and used a woman as a shield. I can't think of anything else that changed from the initial story. If you have examples of actual changes, let's hear them. Maybe I'm wrong. - Dan G
  2. Ah, you need to be more specific. - Dan G
  3. A lot of the "changes" to the story are actually just additional information. I admit there were a few changes to what was put out within the first few hours, but otherwise the story is pretty consistent. - Dan G
  4. I lost my right arm below the elbow, and jumped with a prosthetic, so I have a different situation, but at least it's the same side. Obviously she'll need a left handed throwout. Rigs can easily by modified, or made that way. An SOS on the left (which is the normal position) would probably be a good idea. If she has no use of her right arm at all, she's really going to have to work on the strength of her left arm, particularly the shoulder for pulling down the toggles. No matter how awesome the set-up is, it won't do much good if she can't flare it. Choosing the right canopy will help a lot. She needs to find a canopy of an appropriate size (big) but with as light toggle pressure as possible. Talk to some canopy manufacturers about that. I found a large Stiletto was great, but I would 100% not recommend one for someone with no use of their compromised arm, they are too sensitive to control input. Feel free to keep asking questions, I'd be glad to help anyway I can. - Dan G
  5. I don't know, all them funny hats look the same. Could have been a bomb on his head, for all I know. - Dan G
  6. Continuing to repeat the same claims about a "shoot to kill" order does not constitute additional evidence. No one has ever claimed terrorists have the same rights as Americans when they are in the middle of a battle. Once they're in custody, yes, but not while bullets are flying. Try reading up on the Law of Land Warfare. - Dan G
  7. I think SOS might be a good choice. I used a standard two handle system because I jumped camera, and wanted extra flexibility. I also had 1400 jumps and two cutaways when I was injured, so I had confidence that two handles would work for me. I had one cutaway post-injury, and it went fine. However, if SOS doesn't cause any other problems with specialty jumps, etc., I think it would be a good choice. Which arm has the jumper lost use of? - Dan G
  8. How many cut and pastes of this before you realize he's ignoring you? Just curious. - Dan G
  9. News flash: we drop bombs on compounds in Pakistan regularly. - Dan G
  10. Exactly. Torture is a shitty way of getting intel out of people. - Dan G
  11. I saw this Muslim looking guy the other day. He was sort of frowning. From this I can only assume that all Muslim's are bereft at the loss of their leader. - Dan G
  12. If he killed OBL? Probably the same as they are for Obama. - Dan G
  13. Yep, the jury's still out. Rep. King and Rumsfeld can claim this operation was a result of waterboarding all they want. It doesn't make it true. - Dan G
  14. Yeah, I missed that part, because it's not true, but please hang onto any shred of evidence that your desire for revenge torture has some deeper purpose. - Dan G
  15. With the added distinction that throwing the rabid dog in the washing machine won't cure him of rabies. - Dan G
  16. Hello, I'm Dan, have you been to Speaker's Corner before... - Dan G
  17. Tunnel for sure, but freefall generally won't kill you. She needs lots of emergency procedure training, as realistic as possible. For that matter, she needs lots of regular procedure training. After deployment on my first jump after losing my right hand was not the time to realize I didn't have the arm strength to flare with my prosthetic. If possible, hook her up with a one-armed or similarly disabled experienced jumper. She might be surprized at the things she would never have thought about. - Dan G
  18. This part seems pertinent: Whether or not you agree they should be regulated, folks have had nine years to either change or comply with the law, and six months notice before the latest "crackdown". The people complaining about the 90 day wait should have gotten to work on this a long time ago. - Dan G
  19. Very cute. Forget it, this game isn't worth the time. - Dan G
  20. Are you just arguing in order to argue, or do you have a point? None of us were there. You accuse us of grabbing on to the "killed in a firefight" story, but don't you see that you're just as guilty of grabbing on to the "assassinated in his sleep" story? - Dan G
  21. I replied to this claim in the other thread. Any response to the substance of my post? - Dan G
  22. Actually, this is what the story reports: It seems like the events are still unclear, at least to the unnamed officials doing the "background" briefings. - Dan G
  23. I'm not sure how many times people have to explain this to you for it to stick, but I'll give it one more go. Killing a terrorst in the heat of battle is okay. Tortue does not happen in the heat of battle. Both torture and putting a bullet in his brain are not okay outside the heat of battle. Torture is also the least effective method of gathering usable intelligence, so it's also not okay if your goal is anything other than revenge. Have you considered that your supposition about the "shoot to kill" order is false? There have been a handful of reports where some unnamed source claims to have inside knowledge about the "shoot to kill" order, but nothing that I'd lend any credence to. I guess they could have given him a hug instead. Or started an hours long negotiation, exposing themselves to counter-attack. Do you have any idea how exposed those teams are during helicopter insertion in hostile territory? This isn't X-Box. The "order" was get in, get out. If that meant killing him when he refused to surrender, too bad, that's combat. This wasn't a police action, this was an assault by SEAL Team 6. - Dan G
  24. It happened last night. Are you posting from the future? This "path/mission" started about nine years, seven months, and twenty days ago. - Dan G
  25. There is a record of an interview by al Jazeera in October, 2001, about one month after 9/11. Nothing since that I can find. Are you willing to enlighten us with actual facts, or will we have to be happy with, "once, I believe, in 2003?" Like I said, stop making things up. - Dan G
