I thought he was a real fighter. I guess he went soft - Dan G

Sounds like someone's idea of the perfect woman. - Dan G

Do you get hard openings before a thunderstorm?
DanG replied to soulbabel's topic in Safety and Training
Put another way, if you look at the equation for drag, the term for velocity is squared, but the term for density is not. The increase in velocity overcomes the decrease in density. - Dan G -
Any source on that besides your own delusions? I was a Civil Affairs officer. I spent my time meeeting with local people from dirt farmers all the way up to Provincial Governors. I was far from ignorant about what was going on. You are really a sick individual if you think that's the norm. You claim thousands, I'd be surprized if you can come up with more than ten. Like I said, evidence outside of your own sick delusional mind would be great. I won't hold my breath. - Dan G

I spent 18 months there and didn't witness any innocent people having their lives taken (except a couple guys in a car crash). The only innocents I was aware of losing their lives due to fighting in my AO were killed by the Taliban. That's not to say that innocent people weren't killed by Coalition forces, but if you'd actually spend time researching the subject instead of believing every anti-US crackpot website out there, you'd learn that about 75% of civilian casualties in Afghanistan are caused by the insurgents. - Dan G

You learn something new everyday.

Um, no. Climb angle (relative to the ground) will be greater when climbing into the wind. This is true regardless of the phase of flight. - Dan G -

Well, climb angle will be better on an upwind climb. That could be a concern if there are noise abatement areas or restricted airspace nearby. - Dan G -
Dept of ED issues warrant, SWAT team action for student loan default

"Johnny, if you don't do your homework, it will go down on your Permanent Record." "Big whoop." Twenty years later... - Dan G -
That would be a good joke if you had a student named Manta. - Dan G

Thanks. Same to you. - Dan G

Too bad you think American culture is based on bad ideas. - Dan G

I've stepped up. I also understand what the word "socialist" means, and am not insulted when I drive on socialist roads, use socialist ATC, call the socialist police, or go to the socialist VA for treatment. - Dan G
-
It's only insulting if you have a Pavlovian response to the word "socialized" not related to any knowledge of its meaning. - Dan G

And then in the very same post: Why is it okay for you to be pissed off at "injured" but I can't be pissed off at "crippled"? If you beat the iron lung and crutches, you aren't disabled, and don't know what it's like. All bickering aside, welcome home and thanks. - Dan G
-
I'm not crippled. Crippled implies uselessness, disposable, trashed, finished. I'm far from crippled. I don't expect you to understand, and given your general disdain for anyone who's not you, I certainly don't expect you to care, but the word crippled pisses me off. It also pisses a lot of other people off. If you want to keep using it, be my guest, but I wouldn't walk up to a wounded warrior and ask him how it feels to be a cripple. You might get to experience the feeling yourself. - Dan G

I think that if we don't get Afghanistan to the point where it can reasonably self-govern, it will become a terrorist training ground like none we've ever seen. There are still lots of ardent anti-Western Islamics all over the world. Currently, they have limited freedom to operate. If we give up on Afghanistan now, they'll move in and get to work. Once we leave it will twice as hard, and even more expensive, to go back. Either we fix it now, or we start saving up to reinvade in ten to twenty years. - Dan G

Hot tip: the physically challenged, especially wounded soldiers, aren't too fond of that term. - Dan G

Freedom costs a buck o' nine. Duh. - Dan G

I think we should stay there. As far as the cost, I think we could do it a lot cheaper. - Dan G

I believe that's what happened to Mike McGowan. The video is probably floating around out there somewhere. His departing main riser snagged the reserve slider, and pulled it back up the reserve lines. He only survived because he landed in tall trees that broke his fall. - Dan G

I find it interesting that they are only showing the data for a single month (May) on a year-by-year basis. Why not show data that covers the whole year? Am I missing something about the significance of May? - Dan G

The point is that the terrorists were searched before boarding. The search of the time didn't stop their plan, just like our searches today won't stop the next attack. The terrorists will figure out a way to beat the system, no matter how good we think the system is. - Dan G

Obama has done exactly what he said he would do WRT Afghanistan, so I fail to see how that could be a let down. - Dan G

Yes you did. Reread the thread if you don't remember. - Dan G
