??? I always thought the question was, "Do I feel lucky?" Dammit, I've been asking myself the wrong question all these years. - Dan G

And for God's sake, turn signals are yellow, brake lights are red. I hate those turn signals that are just the brake light getting a little brighter on one side. - Dan G

Oh, in that case, I change my answer to 32. - Dan G

For the sake of argument, what if she divorced the bum because he was beating the child? Would you still think the father should be in the picture? - Dan G

I rode an Otter down once because of sinus problems. I offered to close the door, but the pilot was adamant about leaving it open. It was at a boogie, so I didn't get the chance to ask him why. - Dan G

Yeah, why worry about the rights of people who aren't like you? Your attitude is why I stopped voting Republican. - Dan G

As I've replied to you before on essentially the same issue, I never posted vitriol about Bush just like I don't post it about Obama. I tend to save my vitriol for people who are actually reading what I'm writing. As far as the media goes, how can you keep a straight face and claim that the media is not reporting Obama's decisions? Are you hearing about these things directly from Obama, or are you reading about them in the media? I heard about the latest decision regarding terrorism trials on NPR. - Dan G
-
I didn't try to defend it. I disagree with it vehemently. Of course, you probably won't accept the fact that the main reason the trials won't be in the US is because of the cowardly hue and cry from the right about having scary bad men on our soil. See above. Both sides are to blame. Just like you think agreeing with him is worship. He gives lessons? Cool. - Dan G

Where are all the right celebrations and kudos for Obama? Isnt any as they hate everything he does, no matter what. BTW, do we really have to do the whole, "Where are the news stories," "why haven't all posters who ever supported Obama made new threads about how much they hate him," "," thing again? - Dan G

No, I've read plenty of them. I wanted to avoid a page and a half about how ugly and awkward engineers (except Shah himself) are. - Dan G

Date skydiving chicks. It seems the majority of them don't want kids. And don't tell me that the pool of skydiving chicks is too small (and please don't compare them to engineering chicks). If you go to a decently sized DZ (real, not virtual) there will be plenty of chicks there. You're guaranteed to have at least one thing in common. - Dan G

Background: DC parking ticket fines are brutal. When I lived there, the fines doubled every two weeks. A $100 ticket would be up to $400 in 29 days. I'm not sure what it is like today, but I doubt it is any better. Arlington, VA, where Reagan is, is just as bad. - Dan G

Only if they might hurt bats. Or threaten the oil industry. - Dan G

I actually agree with everything you say. I don't think we should be involved, I think it sets a bad precedent (just like Iraq), and I think we'll be stuck there far longer than we want. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprized if there is a plan (in fact I'd be surprized if there isn't) but I doubt that whatever plan there is has anything to do with what will actually transpire. - Dan G
-
Fuck off. - Dan G

Pithy. However, having a "plan" that is unreasonable and that you know you can't and won't follow is not planning. I would even go so far as to say it is, "planning to fail." - Dan G

Or they'll actually hold you to your earlier points no matter how much you want to pretend you didn't make them. - Dan G

I heard an former military officer (Col, but I don't remember his name) on the radio the other day who stated that having a timetable and exit strategy for Iraq didn't imply that the war was any better planned than what's going on in Libya. He pointed out that the exit strategy and timetable for Iraq were pure fiction. Having a timetable and exit strategy for Libya, while it may be comforting, probably won't have anything to do with what actually happens. I wish we had stayed out of the conflict in Libya, and I sincerely hope we can extricate ourselves quickly, but not having a timetable of exit strategy doesn't mean much to me. - Dan G

Um, none I've ever met. Where are you dealing with these people? I've yet to meet a vegan who looks anything like the anorectic chicks on TV. I know a few vegans, and a bunch of vegetarians. None of them, including my wife and best friend, have ever preached or blathered at me. You need to find less dickish friends. As far as being eco-friendly, I don't think the goal of vegan or vegetarians is to be eco-friendly. There may be overlap, but all the veggie eaters I know do it to avoid supporting animal cruelty inherent in the factory farm industry, not to lessen their impact on the environment. - Dan G

I mean isolated, as in the only evidence so far is that men from a single squad have been charged with three murders. Everything else is conjecture. The fact that Der Spiegel claims to have 4,000 photos does not mean that this squad killed 4,000 civilians. The one soldier convicted thus far was convicted of killing three civilians. That's clearly inexcusable and disgusting, but the leap that you seem to be making in assuming this unit was responsible for thousands more is preposterous. I have thousands of photos from Afghanistan, too, and I managed not to kill any civilians at all. - Dan G
