  1. Truthfully, I don't care Free market will determine whether this was a good decision or not. (I'm referring to the ID check ) steveOrino
  2. You guys probably don't want me involved in this. I think the Biblical writer writes to his generation using his words and idioms. I don't think the Bible is meant to be a science book. I believe the biblical flood probably effected many cultures, but I don't think all the mountains were covered. I would put it in the mesopotania area ... world wide ... ?? The communities of Noah saw it as a judgment from God. I have no argument with that. However, I'm not ready to defend a young earth theory with a literal interpretation of Genesis. That doesn't make me any less of a Christian .. well, maybe in some books, but not in mine See, I told you might not want me involved.
  3. Nice ride! I broke out the Harley Fat Boy yesterday from a long winter's nap. I use to ride every day, but I've become lazy when my wife bought herself a new car and gave me her 2002 Mustang. steveOrino
  4. Is it always held within the same dates? Has there ever been a scenario where non-participants tried to get out of a ticket/offence etc by claiming to be part of the exercise? Just the fact that it has been going on for years is not enough communication, which is quite evident from what happened. Robin Sage has been ongoing at least since 1978 (when I went through) I'm sure the dates vary. I was almost pulled over by a deputy during my exercise, but he could not outrun the cadilac I was hitching a ride in. The black guy that was driving me stopped at a bar at 2 AM and wanted me to go in with him. I thought it best for this white guy with an M-16 to not enter an all black bar. I waited in the car. Seriously, as I said earlier. I'm surprised it took as long as it did before a major SNAFU happened. Especially with the turnover rate of some local deputies. steveOrino
  5. That is exactly what they are trying to do. As I posted above, this has generally been successful. I know. I was responding to the person who said, "It'd be bad for business sure... " It WON'T be bad for business. It will be good for business. steveOrino
  6. How? I seriously doubt the under 18 are a big part of the purchasing demographic. In fact, older people may be more apt to come to the mall if some of the riff raff is excluded. Increased older patrons attendance. Now THAT would be good for business. Do I care? Not one twit. To me it is no different than a club IDing people before entrance. It is within the business' right to do so. steveOrino
  7. Meh, yeah I have seen this too. I never got on a plane without a rig, but one day while doing 10-12 tandem videos out of a cessna I walked toward the cessna w/o a rig. The TM looked at me and said, "Forgetting something, SteveO?" You may think the camera is not a distraction ... you may plan for the camera to not be a distraction ... but it is. Too many experienced camera flyers have said so. Yes, you will find one or two that says it is no big deal. I'd stick with the majority's opinion on this one. Be safe! Put the camera down until you have more jumps and can fly your body w/o thinking at all. The camera will still be there. steveOrino
  8. With no loaded weapons and who were on an exercise and thought the deputy was part of it. What an asinine statement! steveOrino
  9. What amazes me is that this didn't happen until recently. We did Robin Sage there in 1978 when I graduated SF. I know it was going on long before that as well. steveOrino
  10. CATEGORY ACRES FOOD 5.4 MOBILITY 10.6 SHELTER 10.9 GOODS/SERVICES 19.5 TOTAL FOOTPRINT 46 But I love my SUV, Harley, skydiving and 2600 sg ft brick home! steveOrino
  11. Just becuase we point things out doesn't mean we advocate them. Personally, I'm tired of USA being the "super power" Let someone else nanny the world. steveOrino
  12. It brings up the question of validity. As you point out, yes, ice cream consumption is up in the summer as well as drowning. Duh. Warm weather is the factor in both. Neither is related to each other. I bet studies could show drowning are up during summer break. They did a study on yellow versus red fire engine. Studies showed people paid more attention to yellow fire engines than red. Okay, but why? Was it because they were yellow or becaus they were different. If they followed these findings and switched to yellow firetrucks would people grow use to them and ignore them as the did red firetrucks when they become common place? Get a pysch book and read about validity. It will explain why this is not a good comparison steveOrino
  13. Well, it seems many of us DZdotcommers are tired of the USA being a world power. This looks like it might help, unless the Indians come over here lik ethe Germans did. steveOrino
  14. Hill Street Blues M*A*S*H Cheers Barney Miller Andy Griffith yeah, I'm old ... steveOrino
  15. What can we do about legals commiting crimes? Incarcerate them. They're part of us, we have to foot the bill. What can we do about the illegals committing crimes? Send all illegals back and properly sealing the border would be a good start. steveOrino
  16. Libs are the majority right now and they won't get tough enough on illegal immigration to make any difference. Southwestern Republicans won't either. They are all afraid of offending their voting constituents, which happen to me a lot of Mexican Americans. As I said, we'll complain, but no one will do anything steveOrino
  17. Then elect one that will. Obviously it isn't that important to Americans? They have to run for office first. steveOrino
  18. I didn't get paid to preach (I'd do that for free) but I did get paid to pastor. I believe the workman should be paid his wages, and possibly the outside income (sermon tapes)makes up for a lack of regular income. But when it comes to the mega churches I doubt it. But again, who am I to judge? steveOrino
  19. The worst kind. I'm glad I believe in a "whole" not "demi" God. Colossians 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form steveOrino
  20. It was the cable. I borrowed one and that is it. That is the second one I've had to buy! steveOrino
  21. don't forget blower steveOrino
  22. I agree. If it's sold to further the ministery, why not? They also have to pay their employees. That's just reasonable. But what is the purpose of the tithes & offerings if to not meet budget along with finance ministry? Here is what I did. I came into a church of about 200 people that had been established for 80 years. They kept asking for fund raisers, and I kept refusing. I believed if everyone would tithe we'd make budget and finance anything we felt was necessary. They agreed. In the next 5 years we grew to 500+ people, with mostly new converts, went on several foreign mission trips and built church buildings in Costa Rica, hired additional staff, did a few necessary building upgrades and repairs, all w/o one fund raiser. I don't think it is all a sin, but much of it is uncessary. It promotes the problem of keep having fund raisers to do what she be done in a unified budget supported by tithers. steveOrino
  23. All that means is more slots available for me, right? Because I'm a punk! steveOrino
