Could I not say? ... theology deals with the spirit of man and his realtionship to God so "therefore not subject to the normal rules of the universe. As such you're forced to take a lower standard of evidence than the rest of us. " steveOrino

Wife could have been high on crack cocaine too, eh? Just goes to show some will go to any lengths to explain away a supernatural event. I could have accepted "I don't know, but there must be a reason beyond miracle." No, you have to say she was mistaken on what she did. Thinking you ran over a pile of clothes and then seeing your child BEHIND the wheel that crossed over his chest with tire tracks straight across the middle of the sleeper is no mistake. The car was "packed with weight on the one side"?? Is that the best you can do? You sound far more irrational than Fundamental Christians! She was the eye witness to the miracle, but you discount her. Why? Because she is a Christian?? She would be a credible witness in court for the event, but not to you, the skeptic. You said, "if it was a normal knockk down as you say its unlikely the child would have been crying," As a medic in SF and later as a RT in an emergency room, I've seen my fair share of incidents were people were making noise (crying, screaming, moaning, etc) after a crush injury or other accident. You said, " I wont believe just because someone said so, " The truth is you wouldn't believe it if a man walked out of a tomb and said, "See, here are my scars." Then ascended to heaven in front of your eyes. You'd be looking behind the curtain for Penn & Teller. steveOrino

So you answer to my miracle was a trick buick with all the weight distributed on the passenger side and a flat front tire? And you think I'm dishonest with my statements. steveOrino

Are you implying that pyschology deals in the field of imaginary things? Are you saying theology deals in the field of imaginary things? If so, while your understanding of physics may be great, your concept of pyschology & theology is very limited. steveOrino

I don't have a good answer to why some receive miracles and othrs don't. I wish I knew. I prayed my mother's cancer would leave and it didn't. I prayed my wifes would as well and it did. So, while I do not pretend to understand God I say with Job, Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; Job 13:15 steveOrino

What does this comment say. . really .. what are you saying exactly. You should lie down and let us drive over you .. i mean your god should protect you and thus we would see the miracle first hand and thus we would beleive and you would have new converts into your religion and god would have new children in his heaven to serve his holieness. But I really want to run over ya in a way that your not protected by, say, all the stuff that explains how a this could occure without someone being injured. I know I or my children could survive anything should the protecton be provided by circumstance or or happenstance .. protection is protection .. Uh, JC covered that in Matthew 3 Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test. steveOrino

It sounds like weight distribution, speed, tire size, tire pressure, tread design, ground contour, lack of body rigidity, and body position all "worked" together (along with other possible physical conditions of the system) to result in no injuries to Drew, thankfully. I've no doubt that if all of the above were meticulously recorded, a capable physicist could show that the forces produced were in fact survivable, just as the experimental evidence showed. My father-in-law still has that 69 buick. Would you guys be willing to lie down and let me drive over you to prove your point? steveOrino

Touche. On the flip side, Quantum Field Theory can mess with the mind too. it messes with mine! I wish I had mre of an aptitude for science. I cheated in chemistry in HS to make a C. In college microbiology I had my hospital find my unknowns for me. (I told you I wasn't always a Christian) steveOrino

Yes but a psychologist deals with things that exist only in your head. A physicist deals with things that exist in the real world. No, there can be somatic complications as well. steveOrino

But how would I have fun during slow days? That and I enjoy learning how atheists think. steveOrino

You guys need to understand as a therapist/counselor (hope to be pyschologist one day) I have a different view of evidence than a scientist. When diagnosing a client I see evidence that suggest a certain probabale diagnosis. It is never concrete. I don't expect pyschology to be, nor do I expect theology to be either steveOrino

From an online dictionary. 1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability. 2. belief that is not based on proof: He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact. 3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion: the firm faith of the Pilgrims. 4. belief in anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, etc.: to be of the same faith with someone concerning honesty Only one definition required no evidence. Eh, it is semantics. I believe your point. Without faith it is impossible to see God. steveOrino

You're right. I accept it as a miracle by faith. Faith requires a lack of evidence. Not necessarily. The disciples could put faith in Christ during his miracles and after, and even before. I guess what I mean is you can have faith in things you have evidence for. I have faith the world will remain on its axis. There is good evidence for this. But according to some scientist the earth shifted on its axis many years ago and changed the climate of the Sahara. steveOrino

Where was a physics professor when I needed one back then to explain my fallacy to me. steveOrino

You're right. I accept it as a miracle by faith. steveOrino

You are right. I stand by faith. Thanks for redirecting me back to my position.

Your 'evidence' is speculation. Your definition of evidence is way too loose to be considered as actual evidence. If there were actual evidence I wouldn't be arguing with you. Well, you are right in the fact I can't produce a picture of JC stading there with nail prints in his hand and holding a newspaper dated three days after his crucifiction. Of course I think coincidences of 700 prophecies being fulfilled by one man along with radical changes in his followers follwing his resurrection and good indications that Q and Acts were written soon after his crucifiction lead to a more logical explanation of something outside the ordinary. But as you can tell from Phil's refusal to accept my wife's eye-witness testimony and physical evidence like a sleeper with tire tracts as probable explanation of something outside the normal, that any amount of evidence would not suffice. steveOrino
-
I've given a lot more evidence than scripture steveOrino
-
I've been giving good evidence all day today for the reliability of JC and his resurrection. steveOrino
-
I have. Of course people on SC said it wasn't a miracle even though they could offer no reasonable explanation. Please, refresh our memories. See? Luke 16:31 steveOrino
-
So you're "I don't know" is better than mine and my wife's eye witness testimony? steveOrino
-
So because I cannot duplicate it and no cameras recorded it, it must not have happened? Again? which part are we mistaken about? steveOrino
-
What were we mistaken about? My wife feeling the wheel drive over him? gewtting out and seeing the child laying behind the wheel that just drove over him? The tire tracks on his sleeper? steveOrino

Why would I lie? steveOrino
