  1. Yep, I have a couple of HC40s I use. One has a .3 diamond lens, the other has a .25 lens. However, I'm starting to hanker for a HD model. steveOrino
  2. After reading this on another thread I have a question ... So with the requirement that all TI's at USPA DZ's have both a CURRENT USPA and Manufacturer's rating come Fall 2008 ... So TMs with manufacturer ratings but without a USPA TI rating will be grounded until they get the USPA TI? Is there a grandfather clause or what are the requirements for a TM with multiple manufacturer's ratings and 100s or 1000s of tandem jumps to be a USPA TI? Must they go through the entire TI class from scratch? steveOrino
  3. Amazing to what lengths some people will go to get a "cool" picture (endangering the tandem student, I mean) steveOrino
  4. Pics of the ash dive are at: http://www.xtreme-visuals.com/images/2007stills.html steveOrino
  5. There are 215,544 A License before yours??? Wow! And we thought skydiving was decreasing. steveOrino
  6. I agree with Kim (If you're worried about them falling out...hook their feet right before you deploy. They would only fall out if their legs were to fling really far forward. If you have them hooked so they can't...you're golden. ) Initially, after flying 800 or so videos of a certain TM, I picked up this habit of grabbing student to protect them . Very shortly after I began doing tandems I quit doing that. #1 I didn't like a few shots I saw of me grabbing the tandem student. #2 It is better to look up an watch the canopy and fly it through openings ... less line twists that way. steveOrino
  7. A better way to aproach this would to have said ... I appreciate it when people look beyond the artificial barriers we tend to put up between us. Like when we recognize that there are plenty of Christians and Muslims who are quiet God-fearing people, and there are some atheists who are more moral than many preachers. That there are many compassionate republicans and democrats who don't want to abort every fetus. That there are some hard working young people (like my son) who do not expect any entitlements, and there are some old guys who think there are many fine young people that add a lot to this fabric we call life. That is what I should have said. Sorry for the negativity. steveOrino
  8. yep, you got me -- I changed my response. steveOrino
  9. Okay, a bad choice of words. Maybe I screwed up my point. steveOrino
  10. Okies ... don't get this Texan going. steveOrino
  11. okay, most likely. I need to leave this crap here. I've blocked this "heroes" PMs and emails so I guess I should move on. /rant steveOrino
  12. POT KETTLE BLACK j I don't stand on my service as a platform to slam any group of people. If I have a problem with an individual on these forums it is from personal attacks and threats they made in PMs and emails. But maybe I'm wrong. Please show me where I slammed a group of people with a broad stroke and did so with the impunity my time in service gave me steveOrino
  13. It seems to be the norm for some people to paint large groups of people with one broad stroke, whether that be gen Xers, Boomers, freeflyers, Christians, Muslims, Atheists, Democrats, republicans, people of different ethnicity than our own, yada, yada, yada. I know plenty of Christians and Muslims who are quiet God-fearing people, and I know some atheists who are more moral than many preachers. I've seen many compassionate republicans and democrats who don't want to abort every fetus. I've seen some hard working young people (like my son) who do not expect any entitlements, and I've seen men from the "greatest generation" that feel the world owes them a debt simply because they are old. The only thing worse than this narrow mindedness is how so many people feel that if you are some sort of "hero" whether that be in skydiving, firefighting or serving in the armed service, that gives you the right to speak your vitrol garbage without being called on it. Gimmee a break. steveOrino
  14. I called him out on his original post where he paint a whole generation with one stroke. My recent post is because he continues to PM me with threats. The courage a few thousand miles gives some guys is ridiculous. steveOrino
  15. Douglas, your definition of class and mine are different. I simply called him out on your statement above when he was defended a whiny little snot that trying to get revenge on a DZO that banned her bratty kids. He preceded to threaten to report me to my religous superiors (LOL if he only had a clue!), my school (because I warned the DZO to be easy on the brat because he may be oppositional defiant or have a conduct disorder)???? Of course he went after the DZO as well (and blamed me for his vindictive spirit) Then PMs me multiple times telling me that I'm a punk. When I finally decide to comment on his tirade he blocks my PMs and emails. That isn't class in my book regardless of the good he has done somewhere ... some time in the past. BTW, I met him in person when he was hitting on previously mentioned female jumper. I was not impressed. But I guess we all influence different people in different ways. I'm glad he made a favorable impression on you, but he certainly hasn't on me. We are what we are. steveOrino
  16. I had him for a married man myself Maybe he is (old school) mormon steveOrino
  17. I met him briefly. He's not much of a threat (apart from PMs) I guess when you got it bad over a married woman you do stupid stuff. steveOrino
  18. The most entertaining ones are the ones that make threats. I know of one old dude that keeps threatening to report me to my bosses. Funny thing is who he thinks has authority over me ... doesn't. I guess it makes him feel better about himself to blame the world for him getting old/ and senile. Lee, if I ever get like that ... shoot me! steveOrino
  19. yep, what is the old saying? You don't quit skydiving when you get old, you get old when you quit skydiving! steveOrino
  20. A "source" that doesn't provide their source or research data is no more valid than "she said ..." steveOrino
  21. And where is your list and source? Where is chaimedia.com's resource and studies? steveOrino
  22. sounds great just tell the old timer wannabees to stfu about how great it was years ago those fucking punks No surprise to me who started the gripe session, any surprise to you? steveOrino
  23. What proof do you have that fetuses have a POV? I didn't make the statement above, but I did work as a respiratory therapist in a neonatal unit. I've seen infants as little as 1 pound. They feel, believe me they are not subhuman. steveOrino
  24. I did not respond to the abortion thread, but my belief is simple. Your rights stop when they violate my rights, or the rights of others. steveOrino
  25. Yes, he does! I bought a cheap glove ($50) from someone else on Ebay and basically got what I paid for. But I was able to use it for a few months before it came unwravelled. I was able to rig it up for a few more months. I bought one of Simon's glove and that baby is well made! Thanks Simon! steveOrino
