  1. Do you think withall the turbines available, it has lost it's value? steveOrino
  2. 6 of us waiting on Mel (Mule) and Thor as we reinact the 8 way round. Notice the stupid pie-eating grin on my face. I felt like a kid. Lloyd told me I jabbered like my tandem students when I came down, I was so pumped about finally getting this award. steveOrino

  4. "A moment of pleasure isn't worth a lifetime of unhappiness"
  5. It took me 1246 jumps (and 11 attempts) over the last 6 years!!! I work at a Cessna DZ and we occaisionally have two Cessnas available for the attempt. In the previous attempts I was in on 8 of the 10 attempts. The first attempt was back when I had less than 100 jumps. In the previous attempts there was always one out (one time it was me -- I was wearing a camera suit ... wrong!) In this attempt the four guys in the lead plane had 350 jumps, 90 jumps, 65 jumps, and me with 1240+. We made a nice 8 way round and I was never so happy! It took a long time, and in some ways I'm glad it came so late. I don't think I would appreciate it as much had I done it back when I started. I'm also glad I did it with two Cessnas and so many first time SCR recipients on the dive! steveOrino
  6. Evidently. After a week of margaritas and white russians in Cancun, I asked my waiter for a daquiri. He sneered at me with the "machismo" most Mexican waiters think they have and said, "I'll bring you a man's drink" I don't remember what it was, but it was pretty good. But I don't worry about my masculinity so much I can't order the drink I want. steveOrino
  7. If you want to sell the suit -- PM me. steveOrino
  8. Definitely take your kids to science musem downtown. My kids were 11, 8, 7 & 5 when we moved there and they LOVED it -- so did I (NWers, what is it called?), go up in the space needle, and take them to the outdoor climbing wall at UW. steveOrino
  9. I think Chuck says it best. If it begins to get routine, expand your horizons. After about 800 video jumps I was getting bored. I seriously thought about getting a wingsuit but the rep didn't have one that would fit me at the time. So, I did what I said I would never do. I earned my tandem rating. Now I love doing tandems. When that gets boring, I'll try wingsuit or do more CRW. There is no reason for skydiving to be boring, because there are so many disciplines. steveOrino
  10. I lived there from 90 - 95. I agree with Karen. The Alpine lakes are pristine if you like the outdoors. If not spend a day downtown at Pike's Market, and the underground Seattle. Take in the Science Museum -- totally cool and good for kids and adults alike. A lunch at the Space Needle is cool. I'd take a ferry over to the islands if I could. The ferry ride alone is worth the trip. Although I lived there I never went to Vancouver BC (NOT Vancouver, WA) and that is a big regret as EVERYONE says that is a great place. The UDUB district reminds me of the area around UTN when it was NTSU in Denton. It has that hippie feel. As far as eats -- try Chang's in the UDUB district and if you take the ferry near Edmonds go to the bakery -- on main street. If you are into sports a Mariner's game is cool. If you SCUBA, Jacgue Cousteau said the underwater park by the Edmonds ferry was one of the best man-made underwater parks in the world. I use to dive there every Monday. The long time NWers will have lots more ideas, but that is my two cents for my favorite place I lived in. EDITED TO ADD: Go to Snohomish (30 minutes N of Seattle) and make a jump. steveOrino
  11. Trevor, she edited out the freefall part!!! LOL! What's the matter, she didn't like her FF face? steveOrino
  12. great sound -- do you have a muff over the mike? steveOrino
  13. LOL! The second I saw the first frame, I thought, "This guy is gonna blow!" Did any get on you? steveOrino
  14. LOL! I guess if you can't shake up the real world, you can always stir the pot on dropzone. steveOrino
  15. Nice one! It clearly demonstrates why some students after seeing good examples of both handcam and outside video why some prefer handcam. The initial response upon canopy deployment makes it very cool (IMHO) Plus, I think you get a sense of speed with hand cam you don't get with outside. As a vidiot and TM I prefer outside video, but I can see why some prefer handcam. Good job! steveOrino
  16. No problem, after all it is only your opinion. I did the handle checks afer I tossed the drogue. I simply edit that out. You can see the transition where i edited the tape easily enough. As far as the tongue ... well ... I honestly don't remember doing it as much as I do. It isn't always intentional.... just a quirk I have. steveOrino
  17. 1) Every bit helps. 2) It doesn't matter if you make a difference, only if you care. 3) It is suppose to make you feel good. steveOrino
  18. Karen, I found the puppet interviewing the tandems.. freaking hilarious! http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=1538&string=puppet steveOrino
  19. I had the same question two years ago. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1643010;search_string=interview;#1643010 steveOrino
  20. Some students do well with humor. Some get freaked out. As a vidiot, the TM and I used to have a long running rotutine with set up man and punch lines. Since I became a TM I realized some students need humor and for some humor is the worst approach. steveOrino
  21. If you are able, get the TM to ask the questions. The disembodied voice of the vidiot is weird IMHO. There was someone on here that used a puppet -- it cracked me up, but I can't find the thread. steveOrino
  22. Get JACK, the vidiot on your body. That is skydiving cool in the most heterosexual way. Or the standard Blue skies, black death theme. steveOrino
  23. As I have said many times on this forum, I believe the Bible to be God's word to point us to Christ. I don't think it is supposed to be a history book, a science book, or a geneological record. Yes, there are many ways to interpret scriptures. That is why it is always best to interpret a difficult or unclear passage in the light of a clear one. steveOrino
  24. Andy, I may have to put you in a cameo appearance again. How'd you like to be a news reporter (you and Thanatos)? steveOrino
