  1. You just make is seem like its a bad thing... But who are we to judge anyways? I bet you'd love to have your [future] daughter date a guy just like you, right? steveOrino
  2. Why would you care what you look like in "my" eyes. BTW, I don't really think about you that much. Jus yanking your chain, man. steveOrino
  3. So do I, they are a sad lot. But hey, I'm sure you'll be different. steveOrino
  4. And therein lies your belief system. If it is superstition (and obviously I don't think it is) it works for me. steveOrino
  5. No, I love life! Even in my trials I have seen how God can take what I deemed as bad and helped me use it for good. Example: My finances as a pastor were dwindling and I needed to secure more income to support my family. I became a behavior therapist for a 6th & 7th grade center. There I learned a lot about autism and kids with asperger's syndrome. I realized my 20 year old son had AS, and I had him tested and sure enough he does. So much that he now receives disability insurance. Without that "problem" I would most likely never discovered his disability. It also gave me a bigger purpose .. to be an advocate for kids I went back and got another Masters degree and now I work with kids dealing with depression, anxiety, addictions, disabilities, and so on. To me, God delivered the hope I now have. steveOrino
  6. Hope in many things. He gives me a hope there is a purpose for life, justice for the downtrodden, hope to see my late parents again, hope that my pain wasn't in vain. I could go on and on. steveOrino
  7. Christ atoned for my sins. He paid a price for a debt I could not pay, and taught me a better way to live my life. he gave me purpose, and hope. steveOrino
  8. So you don't sin? I do. Theology of original sin aside I sin, I need a savior. I never thought of why I sinned when I realized I needed something orsomeone to make me right before God. steveOrino
  9. Dude, at least be original. http://www.subgenius.com/bigfist/answers/faqs/X0001_Lous_FakeFAQ.html steveOrino
  10. No, I'm not the one who said science would "all but disprove" JC as God. (derekbox did) I have made it abundantly clear about my views. You come to God through faith. I'm just curious as to what evidence he believes science will come up with that will "all but disprove" JC was God? HIS statement, not mine. steveOrino
  11. What fact of science stands against "my" belief in JC right now? steveOrino
  12. that still doesn't answer my question I posed to him. How will science disprove the existence of God? He states it like that is a fact or is it simply his belief (faith) that science will do so? steveOrino
  13. This is my Fatboy. My neighbor rides a Fatboy as well. She handles it well, but I doubt it was her first bike. steveOrino
  14. Harnesses that are properly adjusted can slip like that when the TM's shoulder's are a lot wider than the tandem student's. If you were to tighten that chest strap so tight that it made it impossible for the shoulder harness to move, it would most likely make it difficult for the student to arch. Since I have very wide shoulders I tell my students to grab the harness as we exit. That keeps it from moving and calms their little fears about it slipping off (which it ain't gonna do, but tell that to a student who is already scared to death) steveOrino
  15. Yes, I remember. I was at Camp McCall going through Phase 1 of Special Forces training. (Back then it had 3 phases: survival, MOS, & team aka Robin Sage) I remember feeling he was lucky to be out of his misery while I was being sleep deprived, starved and marched to death by some 6' 3" Sgt with strides about 48" inches long! steveOrino
  16. That would convince you that there isn't a god? Or just that you had the wrong idea about it? ... The latter. That would convince me that JC wasn't God. As I said, I can't imagine a scenario where there would be evidence to convince me there wasn't "a" God. steveOrino
  17. What would convince there isn't a God? That would equally hard, so I will to pick on whether or not JC was God's son. I could die, and be before God and he would say, "Why did you keep calling me Father? My name is Allah! You worshipped a lesser prophet and failed to pray 5 times a day facing Mecca, and my records show you didn't journey there once, but you did have enough money to go to Cancun six times. No virgins for you!" steveOrino
  18. Depends. Plenty of people have been bought back from the dead, it's a routine medical procedure. It doesn't have the same impact it did 2000 years ago. Humor me. Describe a scenario that JC could convince you. steveOrino
  19. Good question. Many things may change my perception of God, but I think it would be very hard for me to believe there isn't one (of some sort) ... back to that core belief thing. So logic and evidence won't cut it then? That's a pity and an answer that is constantly given by theists to that question. I see evidence of creator all around me. To take it to a level that implies the biblical God may take some areas of faith, but it does make logical sense for me to look at the order in creation and see some sort of divinity. I'm not a scientist, but I do think logically some of the time. steveOrino
  20. For faith to be unnecessary. What would that look like to you? Unambiguous evidence. For god to be the only possible answer to some phenomenon. Although you'd still have to come up with a self-consistent theory of what god is. No one's managed that yet. . Would JC talking to you after you saw him dead do this for you? steveOrino
  21. For faith to be unnecessary. What would that look like to you? Good question. Many things may change my perception of God, but I think it would be very hard for me to believe there isn't one (of some sort) ... back to that core belief thing. steveOrino
