Hooray! Oh hey just one question... What's with the Clutch?! It is a metal thing ... My boys do it and it looks hilarious when others do it -- including a toddler. steveOrino

I did a cartoon for Wild Bill McKinney. He needed a cowboy leaning on a post with a rig on. What do you think of the Eastwood theme? steveOrino

Why would you want her on her knees? In c182 my routine is that I'm facing the tail (on my knees), pax comes to sit on my lap, open door, move sideways, exit... No need to have dear ol grandma on her knees, IMO... As we move towards the end of the season it might be a good time to step back, relax, count blessings, see what pays the bills - and show grandma a wonderfull time...

All right guys, I'm not upset. The booger about forum threads. You can't tell someone is yanking your chain. I thought that is what I was doing with my first response. Sorry about that. Maybe I have a knee jerk reaction when I see someone calling out a legit DZ. My DZO was called out about safety issues when it was more about a personal beef. This is not to say my DZ or my DZO is perfect, just like I'm sure the marketing statements are a bit misleading to the whuffo. But to insinuate someone is a skyride scammer is over the line IMHO. About the statement in question. After you graduate from our 9 jump AFP Program you will be able to jump on your own and experience the thrill of flying. After this you can try freeflying(vertical flying), skyboarding, or even the new birdman suit Grammatically it is correct. AFTER you graduate you will be able to jump solo. AFTER THIS (unspecified # of solo jumps -- see the marketing tool?) you can be a birdman, etc. the TWO (2) "AFTERS" make it a correct, albeit confusing to a whuffo, statement. I guess from a marketing standpoint it makes sense. Although it is on the line. But so is "we have the best staff!" That is fairly subjective, but who wants to read "our staff will do." No offense intended, non taken "It's all good" - Toby Keith steveOrino

Yeah, there is some real misleading stuff on that website. Let's all get anal about it! Before your jump, you will have a 15 minute class on how to help your instructor make your skydive the safest and most exciting skydive! If I drop my feet and sprain my ankle can I sue? After all you said it was safe. And what if it isn't exciting? Can I get my money back? Walking to the airplane comes next and it may be the most intimidating part. You are not quite sure what to expect as you climb into your seat in the airplane. I suppose this leaves Cessna out as they have no seats. If we have to fly the Cessna, can I get part of my money back? And if I don't find this intimidating (walking to the plane) is there a discount? At about 3000 feet (3 minutes after takeoff), you will start your scenic flight over the desert. Is there a refund if it is say 3 minutes and 30 seconds? You will see the Harrah's Casino, the beautiful Arizona mountains, the Phoenix Skyline and much more. Discounts for fog/smog? Don’t forget to ask about your in-flight meal. Are peanuts still a meal? It's free with every skydive. At 5000 feet, your instructor may show you his altimeter and tell you this is the altitude he will be opening the parachute. If mine selects to not do this can I get $5 back? I feel this is important. Enthusiastic first timers may be able to pull the parachute themselves so be sure to ask if you are interested. Finally, over two miles above the ground, your instructor will ask you to assist him in getting ready for the skydive. Does that thingy on his wrist measure "miles" If it measures in the Euro metric crap, I want a refund! You will know it's time to go when the door opens and the wind comes whirling through the plane. Right before you jump the camera will be pointing at you as you look back into the plane at your friends. READY,,, SET

Nice PA, but anyway ... You made my point. You have an agenda, and it isn't to preserve the purity of advertisement in the world of skydiving. Others have indicated that as well. My point is further proved that you believe "truth in advertising" applies to your DZ's competition and others but not you, Mister 1 year and 666 jumps ... my @#$ just yanking your chain man. Lighten up, it is only a forum thread. steveOrino

The Rich Man and Lazarus from the Gospel of Luke

That moves us back to the fact belief in God is not based on science, but on faith. I think we've been down this road before. steveOrino -

What do you define as evidence? Should only those who saw believe? What about the personal testimony of those who also saw? steveOrino -
simple ... Leave before the beer light comes on if you can't be around those who partake at this point in his recovery. Isn't there a AA group of skydivers? Friends of Al or something like that? Man, as as drug counselor, you'd think I'd know that. steveOrino

The Rich Man and Lazarus from the Gospel of Luke

I "think" Abraham was saying it wouldn't matter to those who are not open to receive. JC illustrates this principle in Mark 4 with the parable of the sower. What changed my previous thinking was more serious study. Would that suffice to change my thinking? I don't know. For some, it did. But even then they have a worldview. that influences their thinking. Take for instance the priests, bishops & pastors of the Jesus Seminar. As they vote with their different colored stones about the vaildity of JCs word, they state they do not believe certain passages to be accurate because they do not believe JC was divine. steveOrino -
In the 80s I was a youth pastor. I was your age (27) when I started. Now I' almost 53 and those kids are in their 40s .. THAT my friend will make you feel old! 27 ... hmmph! I have underwear that old! steveOrino

This weekend I had a 60 y.o. 190lb grandma who filled out her waiver, never marking anything about physical limitations. Then while sitting in the Cessna on the way up she stated she couldn't be on her knees. Did she say that while I was showing them the exit? Noooooooooooo.. Sorry honey, that is the only way I can hook you up and get out the door. She was able to get on her knees and move forward. She wasn't as bad as I expected when I saw her stats (60 year old, 190# female) She had bird legs and I was able to get the straps fairly tight. Her weight was in her gut. steveOrino

The Rich Man and Lazarus from the Gospel of Luke
steveorino replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless." It is the Bible that claims it is flawless. This is either true or its not. If it is not, then why would you bother believing any of it. If it is true then you are held accountable to it. One should settle this for themselves.... The passage quoted is from Psalms & 2 Samuel (it is a song) That song of David doesn't claim the Bible is flawless. The Bible claims God's word is flawless. There was no "Bible" when that song was written. So what "word" could he be referring to? Well I believe he was referring to God's commands which were a "type" or "shadow" of that which was to come. The perfect flawless "word of God" can be found in John chapter one, in none other than JC. steveOrino -
The Rich Man and Lazarus from the Gospel of Luke
steveorino replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
Jack, you ask me a question that is impossible to answer, which is why I never did. If something does not exist how can you prove it doesn't? You can only hypotheses that you have not found evidence that says otherwise. But of course now I do believe God exist. That is in my worldview. Plus I believe I have had a personal experience with him. What could invalidate that? Well, I suppose I could change my thinking as to the nature of God and His existence. I know many who have done that very thing and there are many here who have testified to that fact ... they were believers now they are atheists/agnostics. IF I were to change, I would surmise it would be as they did ... a change in thinking/understanding, not some archeological fact, etc. While I understand how you believe I'm incapable of that change in thinking, I believe I am. I know I have changed my theories on the OT and even the NT. I'm still mulling through what it means to be "in Christ" So I don't think it is fair to say I have a "fixed" position. You say you are open to change your belief and for that I'm glad. My prayer is that God will reveal Himself to you in such a way you will believe that JC is who he claims to be. -
The Rich Man and Lazarus from the Gospel of Luke
steveorino replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
No, Abraham was not wrong. From the parable's standpoint, Abraham is saying there are those who would not believe no matter what evidence is given. (He equates that person as one who has already disregarded the testimony of the the OT as it refers to JC) While Thomas was given more evidence than let's say you or I, he was obviously not in the group Abraham referred to. steveOrino -
Really? He has a picture of DZ A's staff on his website, and DZ A promotes his website on theirs. He falsely accuses DZ B (DZ A's competitor) of being a skyride scam. Sure ... no conflict of interest there. I'm sure his thread was all about the needs of the wannabe skydiver. Yeah, sure, um, okay. steveOrino

The links are already provided by in a previous post in this thread. His website has a picture of DSC staff on it displaying he has a conflict of interest in his concern for students being misinformed by phx area skydiving BTW, starting debates is fine, but when it is done by insuating your DZs competition is a skyride site ... steveOrino
