  3. Santa Barabara, CA (Wonderful weather 70 degrees most every day -- beaches! Santa Maria, CA (smaller version of SB) steveOrino
  4. Bingo! Call me unamerican, but I've had it with individualist street-ball multi-millionaires. steveOrino
  5. I was thinking of using that as an example, too, but it doesn't quite illustrate my point that sometimes such footage or photos are merited. During the Vietnam war, the attached photo was published publicly and became almost instantly famous. I'd be curious to know what people's thoughts are on it and other examples of that nature. That Pulitzer Winning photo was instrumental in changing public opinion of the war. Of course what wasn't said was this Police Chief was executing a Vie Cong man who raped and killed members of the Police Chief's family. There is a video of the execution, little hole, little blood sputing out and the prisoner falling to the ground. IMHO the photo said more than the video. steveOrino

    Masters

I have one MA Theology. I'm working on another in counseling. I will finish it next October. The first was not necessary for my work but was beneficial/ The latter will be necessary as I want to work in the field of Child Pyschology. I enjoyed the classes and yes, it was a lot of writing. At first that was difficult, but it got easier as I did more of it. It was seldom boring. steveOrino
  7. The bigger and fatter my friends are the more likely they are to say they want to do a tandem with me. I just smile.

  9. Great after the fact observation, but why would Darius' reason: 1979-88: US begins covert aid to Mujahideen in Afghanistan six months before Soviet invasion in Dec. 1979. Over the next decade US provides training and more than $3 billion in arms and aid. be listed as a reason the world hates us, unless you just happen to be looking for reasons, and in "hindsight" this fits. Darius, why DID you list, "1979-88: US begins covert aid to Mujahideen in Afghanistan six months before Soviet invasion in Dec. 1979. Over the next decade US provides training and more than $3 billion in arms and aid." as a reason the US is hated? Please tell me. steveOrino
  10. My favorite "fact" is: 1979-88: US begins covert aid to Mujahideen in Afghanistan six months before Soviet invasion in Dec. 1979. Over the next decade US provides training and more than $3 billion in arms and aid. I was in SF in 77-80 and yes, we were helping not only the Mujahideen, but also the regular Afghan Army expel the "godless" soviets. I can see why the members of the former USSR din't like this, but please tell me -- why does this make us hated by the Muslim/Arab world??? steveOrino
  11. There was an article a few years back in SKYDIVING about the DZO/TM from Key West taking his THREE year old son, Skylar, on a tandem. steveOrino
  12. Excellant and very funny, if only it wasn't so true. steveOrino
  13. As a Christian I call the Bible scripture. steveOrino
  14. I jump a 150 stilleto (loaded 1.8) normally, but use a Sabre 190 for demos. I'd never be afraid of jumping on asphalt with the Sabre in normal wind conditions. However, to answer you question ... Asphalt sucks pretty bad if you biff -- no problem otherwise. steveOrino
  15. All truth is God's truth regardless of who said it. NOW your going to hell... cant have an infallible SOLE WORD of God if all Divine Experiences are True I DID NOT say all "Divine Experiences" are true. I said all truth is "divine" -- Big difference! EDITED TO ADD: Attached is a diagram of my theory about truth and God steveOrino
  16. I'm not a doctor (just an old SF medic) The clicking noise sounds like cartiledge issues. I'd check it out. If that is all it is -- they can scope it and and you'll be back to normal in no time. Good luck! steveOrino
  17. At times it is rare, but I wholeheartedly agree with you, Bill. I may not have seen it before we invaded, but I saw Iraq turning into a quagmire like Viet Nam a few weeks after we "liberated" Baghdad. Too many flashbacks from the 60s! steveOrino
  18. All truth is God's truth regardless of who said it. As far as Christ not being a deity then how did he heal people and raise the dead? If he was only a good jew trying to reform his own religion why did he accept Peter (John 11:27) and Thomas's (John 20:28) affirmation that he was God? John, and his followers who most likely wrote the Gospel of John, were devout Jews. steveOrino
  19. Just because someone doesn't have a PRO rating or does a demo without USPA permission, doesn't necessarily mean that they are more likely to have an accident. Just because you pay the USPA extra money each year to renew your PRO rating, doesn't mean that you are better jumper than others. Bureaucratic paperwork doesn't make you safe. Sending money to headquarters doesn't make you safe. It's the experience and judgement of the jumpers that does that. I think yor beef is with USPA, not me. If that is the way you feel why get a rating, or license? steveOrino
  20. There are MANY theologians (if not most) who believe Paul was addressing Timothy's problem in Ephesus where Timothy pastored and would not give that statement weight to speak to the whole church for all of eternity. Heck, the first evangels were women who came from the empty tomb. Im still waiting for your text from the Koran. steveOrino
  21. That wasn't his statement was it? We all know different 'denominations" have excluded women. I'm not catholic. Mine (Church of God Anderson, IN) doesn't. His statement was "No religion has admitted women are equals to men but Islam." I begged to differ with his statement. I never made a statment about the Roman Catholic church. steveOrino
  22. Really? Any text in the Koran that reads like Galations 3:28? There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. steveOrino
  23. Been there, done that. Thank God I was under my Sabre 190 steveOrino
