  1. That's a straw man you have created. Most ID guys belief's are not that simple. While I "believe" in ID, I prefer not to debate it as I'm not adequately equipped to do so. So you choose to hold a position that you admit you cannot justify (other than internally within your own head). If that's faith, then faith equals voluntary ignorance. Actually, I'm more of a theistic evolutionist. I do not discount evolution at all, so therefore, I need not debate it. I believe in ID (God) but I recognize it rquires an element of faith. To me faith is not something to be argued. Sure there are those who will do that on both sides of the issue, but I feel "inadequate" to debate "faith" issues with those who require scientific proof. Faith by the very definition the bible gives it (Hebrews 11:1) does not require scientific proof. It ends up being a cyclical argument and is a waste of time. Christ has challenged me (and other followers) to be the salt of the earth. Hopefully, like salt, I can both create thirst (for spiritual truth), and season my world. However salt crammed down someone's throat is not tasty. steveOrino
  2. Oh yeah ... funny story -- please no PETA responses (it was an accident) I was there with my chow dog. I swam to the rock and he jumped in following me. He even climbed up the big round rock. I dove off and swam to another rock, assuming he would follow. he didn't. After an hour or so I swam back and tried to toss him into the water to swim with me. He was 60# and I "almost" made it. He hit the rock about 2/3rds the way down. Tough dog! steveOrino

    Oh George

Very funny despite my "lean to the right" views! steveOrino
  4. By his reasoning any theological book that was not canonized was "surpressed". steveOrino
  5. For the love of Madeline Murray O'Hara, stop using a parable about judgement day as it were a direct command from God. Your exegesis of scripture is very lacking! /soapbox ... sorry, I can deal with your plethora of redundant attachments, but your misuse of scripture is starting to get to me. steveOrino
  6. I've been there before (I think) Is there a giant rock (almost an island) near the shore? I lived in Seattle in the 90s and would take a few days off and camp by this alpine lake. steveOrino
  7. I do not agree with the theological view that exempts women from teaching men, but are you suggesting that "someone" should intervene and prevent this church from selecting their Sunday School teacher. Now THAT would be a violation of the separation of church and state. Personally, I can't believe this even made a mention in a newspaper. There are millions of fundamental churches that believe this interpretation of Paul's letter to Timothy. It is practiced in most Baptist churches every Sunday. It is hardly newsworthy. steveOrino
  8. I believe her point is she is happy to be blessed with child. From a Christian theological worldview, children are considered a blessing from God. Atheists don't buy it ... fine. Her original post said "to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ" steveOrino
  9. He is not the first to do so. steveOrino

  11. There are (at least) TWO types of creationist. Those who believe in a literal interpretation of Genesis and those who believe in "creation" but not a "literal" interpretation. Your question should be directed at "fundamental creationist", not simply "creationists". steveOrino
  12. combustible engine! Try walking every where! steveOrino
  13. My 1000th. I videoed my wife's 1st jump and she signed my log book and wrote some nice things about me. A picture of her jumping made the August 2006 Parachutist.
  14. Good advice. I had a riser slap rip the entire lens and connecting threads off a camera early on in my video career. It was a side mount on an "L" brackets. steveOrino
  15. Sony has the best reputation among skydivers. A search in this forum will lead to a lot of results, but most will say Sony. I have a Sony HC 40 and love it! Very affordable on Ebay. I use a Dimond .3 lens, but a Kenko .5 is a good starter lens IMHO steveOrino
  16. Sabre ... oh yeah. I had an opening so hard I broke my Bonehead FTN's chin on my chest. Cracked two ribs and cut my lip, but the worst part was having to deal with a broken camera helmet during a busy season. steveOrino
  17. It does not surprise me you do not know the difference between a direct command and a parable. How else could you come up with some of the crazy ideas you have.
  18. Atually, he looks more like him than that picture represents. I don't have any recent pictures of JB. This one is about 10-15 years old. steveOrino
  19. I think my high school best friend, Joe Bob, looks like Cowboys' coach Bill Parcells. In fact I believe if he were to dye his hair, he could put on a Cowboy golf shirt, and get free food in Dallas. What do you think? steveOrino
  20. Here is something concrete for you. It shows how you are unable to exegete scripture, thereby your conclusions are way off. You said: THE MYTH speaks a contradiction, lk 10:27, love thy neighbor as thyself. lk 19:27 bring all who will not have me as king before me and slay them before me You are comparing a direct command about how to live one's life (Luke 10:27) with a parable about the final judgement (Luke 19:27) steveOrino
  21. Your ability to exegete scripture is very telling. No wonder you are confused. I suggest a little class in Biblical interpretation so you won't come across as just another David Koresh, but with a different theology. His inability to exegete scripture properly cost 100s of people their lives. steveOrino
  22. Sorry, I was only following his logic. steveOrino
