Okay. Now look at it from the POV of the fetus.
-
Those ways to negotiate not paying child support, all conditional on the consent of the mother. If the mother says no, then that's it.
-
news flash ... there is no shortage of dead beat dads out there who have made this decision not to support their child. Your point is irrelevant to the point being addressed.

The right not to indiscriminately terminated. Abortions are not indiscriminate by any stretch of the definition. Please elaborate. in·dis·crim·i·nate ADJECTIVE: 1. Not making or based on careful distinctions; unselective: an indiscriminate shopper; indiscriminate taste in music. 2. Random; haphazard: indiscriminate violence; an indiscriminate assortment of used books for sale. 3. Confused; chaotic: the indiscriminate policies of the previous administration. 4. Unrestrained or wanton; profligate: indiscriminate spending. I would not use any of those words to describe the decision to terminate a pregnancy. And I'd imagine that most of the women who have them wouldn't either. On the other hand, one could argue that those terms might apply to "collateral" terminations of life in a voluntary and arguably illegal nation building project. What physical distinctions separate fetuses that will be aborted from those that will not be aborted?
-
I guess that applies if you equate DEATH with being pregnant for nine months! Me? I don't see them as being equal.
-
As it should be. What list of rights should it have? The right not to indiscriminately terminated. Abortions are not indiscriminate by any stretch of the definition. Please elaborate.

Pro-lifers aren't being very honest with us here. I am pro-choice because I want to give women control over the direction they want to take their lives. So please can at least one pro-lifer tell us why the fetus is more important than the woman? Who has claimed "fetus is more important than the woman"?
-
Me neither. What's your point?
-
Yeah. You keep telling yourself that. Personally, I find the whole business of labelling Americas by how the majority (that's more than half ) in their state voted, in the last election is, kind of myopic. It ignores the minority (that's less than half ) in each state. It's really hard to keep up with those swing states, too. And what is it that is burning my bottom to have supported so fervently? Or is this just a dishonest label?
-
How often are multifetal reductions are done after the point of viability has been reached?
-
Doesn't that apply to both sexes?
-
Move along folks. No dishonest stereotypes here folks. Nothing to see.
-
Well let's take away the fetus here because we all know they can not choose anything at this early stage of their existence. Neither do babies in their first year of life. It's not about being victims. It's about having any (as in more than zero) rights in the matter. Irrelevant analogy. How about heroin, crack and meth? After all, it's their body. "Pro-lifers" want to give some rights to unborn babies (I think).
-
I don't dispute any of that, but what does it have to do with someone posting a story about an unplanned pregnancy, where the guy wanted to keep the baby and the girl had an abortion... and your reply of:
-
But were not talking equal rights. Presently the unborn child has few, if any, rights. As it should be. What list of rights should it have? The right not to indiscriminately terminated.
-
I think his point was that the government intrudes on many of our supposed personal freedoms. And you don't see the hyporicy here? No. Why don't you explain it to me, with actual examples, instead of resorting to bogus stereotypes. I didn't know I felt that way. Thanks for telling me what my views are.
-
Which is exactly what this issue is about.
-
No we are talking about who has the right to make choices regarding the direction someone wishes to make in their life. Really? It sounds like she was talking about motivating factors affecting the decision to abort or not. ***The fetus is inside her body, changing it, taking nutrients from it, and altering the way it functions. If we can come up with a way to remove the fetus and gestate it elsewhere without subjecting the mother to a level of risk higher than current, I'm all for outlawing abortion and taking the fetus out and giving the resulting child to someone who wants it, provided there is a waiting list of people willing to raise the kid. The thing is, as long as we don't have a way to remove the fetus from the woman without killing the fetus, since it's her body that's hosting the fetus, her rights come first. Quote

While I respect your personal view, we're not talking about 'carrying it' we're talking about killing it. How can a woman (or man) have the 'right' to kill a unborn child? The fetus is inside her body, changing it, taking nutrients from it, and altering the way it functions. It sounds like you're making this about enduring the pregancy. I thought the primary issue involved after the pregnancy.

Yeah - but then she wrote "you cant have it both ways...promiscuity with as many women as you want.. with no responsibility. Communication is key...and both parties need to be TRUTHFULL with each other". Kind of a "let's all be responsible" to "me are pigs" then back to "let's all be responsible"... all to back up her claim that the guy should have determined if a woman wants to settle down and have children before ever having sex with her, which was irrelevant to the point of the "guy wanted to keep baby" post.
-
Then why do we read so many right wingers right here who do not want justice.. they want vengeance from our criminal justice system.... and there is so much support on the right wing... for George and Dicks Excellent Iraqui Adventure... yet will not allow for any form of abortion after conception. I read it daily...abortion bad....war good...criminals need to die... Nice one. Of course, getting you to provide actual quotes to support your claims is out of the question. That's 100% behind the War in Iraq and 100% against abortion... and "fully support a WIDE range of crimes with the penalty for them for who dies in gas chambers...hanging...electrocution or firing squads"...so many... that you read it daily. Riiight!

I would suggest that if you feel so strongly that you would support a world in which NO SEX occurs until they figure out how they will raise the child they are about to possibly create. In an activity where one of the consequences is getting the woman pregnant then BOTH of them should discuss the possible outcomes and what they should and would do about it BEFORE engaging in sex.... you cant have it both ways...promiscuity with as many women as you want.. with no responsibility. Communication is key...and both parties need to be TRUTHFULL with each other What's your point? You seem to all over the place in the above post.
