  1. And we use neither. Well, good for you.
  2. What is C of CC? Thankfully, there's no stereotyping in that post.
  3. This kind of rhetoric is on par with what's being said down in Ft. Lauderdale. From the article: "He should be held accountable for any hate crimes committed against gays" because he objects anonymous sexual encounters in public facilities? Katie, bar the door.
  4. Go do a search of certain far right wingers posts about the time of the beginning of the war...racism.. abounds.....and a real interesting take on patriotism being only alive and well within the fascist right wing. No search necessary. Your word is proof enough.
  5. Here's another post (on this subject) that Billvon never responded to. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2883995#2883995
  6. Was it? Maybe for France and Belgium it was but not for UK and the US. How about for WWI? I'm guessing most historians would say YES. The Battle of Stalingrad did not have a direct impact on the UK or the US, either. It was still a pivotal event, in an international war. So what? How is this relevant to whether or not it was a pivotal event? Again, what does this have to do with whether or not it was a pivotal event? So what?
  7. Nah.. I dont hate you....I would STILL buy you a VERY cheep beer... IF I ever saw you at a dropzone in my travels. BUT I do base my opinion of people on here by the wonderful posts they continually make about towel heads etc in the past as well as derogatory comments about other peoples patriotism because they do not goose step to the same tune that the far right is stepping to.. We are fortunate that you don't resort to using bogus stereotypes. Fortunate, indeed.
  8. Isn't too dam late?? The SOB's have been accused and we all know that when it comes to the military and right wing scum it is the charge that counts. All evidence be damned. I mean, them bastards have already been drawn a quartered on this site so let em hang Easy their moonbat boy. Don't get your hopes up.
  9. Maybe it's overused in England. Maybe for a Brit it's just as tired as all those West Virginia, Oklahoma, South Carolina... your sister, your daddy, your family tree jokes. Maybe.
  10. He's at it again. http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/08/gingrich/index.html I like everything he has to say, except getting rid of campaign limits.
  11. Comparing the Iraq War to WWI (or WWII) is right up there with Bush - Hitler comparisons. Both are lousy comparisons with seem to overlook the huge, glaring differences. WWI was a "backs against the wall" situation. The Battle of Somme (much like the Battle of Normandy) was a pivotal event, in a truly international war. The present day sentiment about the war in Iraq made be effected by our being a kinder, gentler society, as well as our 24/7 in-your-face- coverage, but the overwhelming difference in then and now has to do with the implications of fighting versus not fighting.
  12. Okay, everybody. Let's all have a great big GROUP HUG!!!
  13. Wow. It's like you got nothing from Rehmwa's post to you, this morning. ****************************************** Check out the 2nd definition. Main Entry: non·threat·en·ing Pronunciation: -'thret-ni[ng], -'thre-t&n-i[ng] Function: adjective 1 : not constituting a threat 2 : not likely to cause anxiety
  14. I'd guess most religious people are willing to express their doubts, in a non-threatening environment. This forum doesn't qualify.
  15. You asked a question I gave you an answer, its not really all that difficult, do try and keep up there a good chap What did the following have to do with my question? I ask because I am trying to keep up.
  16. From the studies I've seen, religious people (on average) tend to be happier than non-religious people. Life is more than just functioning well.
  17. Some of what you say is true not of Muslim countries in genreral but of some countries and its not down to Islam but to the politics of those countries. For example Saudi Arabia, Americas number one allie in the region is as you most likely know one of the most repressive regimes in the world. The fact that it is so closely alligned with Washington points out the glaring lie that America gives a fuck about freedom and democracy, it only cares about whats under the sand not about the lives of those above it. If you want a good example of a Muslim country look at Turkey which has just re voted the Islamist AK party back into power. Its democratic, pro European, legaly secularly equal, anti extremist, economicly very sucessful, capatalist, it has abolished the death penalty, pro minority (including iving minorities the right to education in their own language), it has reformed human rights including the end ing punishment for critisim of the armed forces and has even tried to change the law to stop the military from interveaning in the democratic process. That is the closest to a true Islamic state. The sad fact is that until Washington stops supporting state sponsered terror and despotic regimes Turkey will remain as the exception rather than the norm. http://www.newstatesman.com/200707260016 Sometimes I read replies to my posts and wonder "What does this have to do with my post???"
  18. Despite what you guess, there are still some people who do put the money where their mouth is. We have children, and do not shop in Walmart. Target and Walmart are two different stores. Just thought I'd point that out. You seemed confused about it.
  19. Good points, Bill. This (the OP story) is a perfect example of my taking the bait. Those two seem to have a history of supporting the war, too.
