    Those would be the same 'elitists' that have MORE members in Congress that have served in the military, correct? I mean, you ARE talking about the Repubs there, right? Oddly enough, with all the Dems that are talking about how they 'support the troops', I've not seen any news reports about THEIR families rushing down to the recruiting stations... seems like it MIGHT just be endemic to politics as a whole and not just one 'side' or another. Ssssh!!! She's on a roll... ducking the main point with time tested redirects.

I wonder why we don't hear much about the 2006 election. The general mood among conservatives was "OUCH", "That really sucked"... "Okay, let's move on".

It's pretty much a given that anyone who could get a deferment(sp?) or a prefered assignment during the 60s, especially after the war escalated, took full advantage of those options. How many Democrats in Congress voluntarily enlisted in the Army especially after 1965, when our involvement spiked as did anti-war sentiment? I notice you haven't offered anything to support your bullshit claims about me.

Considering fewer and fewer Washington politicians have this kind of experience, such a prerequisite could really hamstring us in the future. What does whether or not their children serve have to do with anything? It's completely irrelevant. Maybe it's because you dishonestly label me with that same broad brush. That's a big "if", which you frequently try to put on me, even though you have nothing to back it up with.

    I think you're confusing a general statement in The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the United States of America. The Constitution does not say anything about God-given (or being "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable") rights.

    That is so true... I date people who can discuss things with me. I don't want someone who always agrees, because that would be boring, but I don't want someone who states absolutes and refuses to examine them either. I'm always willing to listen to a different opinion, and I'd like whoever I'm dating to grant me the same courtesy. absolutely. and i absolutely agree. Are you the same poster who consistently makes condescending, belittling remarks to others. You know, statements like: It's about practicing what you preach.

    That would never happen. Look at Iraq, it was led by an evil man, lots of killings, yet the country had a massive amount of guns owned by its citizens. Now, I know most on this site will now tell me that Americans are off course much braver and just all round better people than the average Iraqi.....but I still call bullshit.     Actually, there is very strong archaelogical evidence that belief in a diety... evolved from honoring natural forces and physical objects sometime around 6,000 BC. Hey... that fits nicely with the Young Earth Creationism timeline.
