  1. So, decorated trees, giving gifts, family gatherings aren't Christmas traditions? Nope. they are traditions from the various pagan winter soltice festivals that were originally banned but (bowing to popular pressure) eventually co-opted by the church. (With the possible exception of the tree. Don't know where that came from) So, since some of these traditions originated from other sources, Christians have no right to now consider them their own? Seems like a peculiar definition of tradition.

  3. Markets have a natural tendency to revert to the mean. On a more helpful note, you might consider investing in German companies... or even German bonds. I don't know how much money you're talking about, but if it's worth the effort, you should look into it.
  4. Yeah. All those hotspots were just peachy king prior to January 2001.
  5. I'd go with #7 - From apathy to dependence. From talking with people about the current problems with our federal government and national leadership, I get the impression that many seem to think these problems cropped up overnight (or started in Jan. '01). They don't see the current situation in a historical context, that it was able to become what it is as a result of significant events/changes that took place over the last 50 years.
  6. That's easy to say from an armchair, but just walk in the shoes of a couple of the really fat people for a few times and you'll change your tune Didn't Randy Newman write a song about fat people???
  7. Six years ago. That's who they're talking about when they say "neocon". Search the forums for PNAC. Or go here: http://newamericancentury.org/ Things are looking up though. The republican party is (hopefully) now realizing the errors of letting that bunch call the shots. And Democrats control both houses of Congress. I guess this supposed takeover isn't all it's hyped up to be.
  8. I don't think it's an eas/west thing, but rather a country bumpkin/dazzling urbanite thing. I wonder which group is responsible for more gun related injuries and fatalities???
  9. For folks that live on farms or in the mountains - SUVs may be the best choice. Mine is about the only house in the suburban street that does not have a SUV in its driveway. The Chicago freeways are choked with SUVs commuting into the city. At the weekend, the country club parking lot is full of SUVs. The shopping mall lots are full of SUVs. At 8:30a.m. the streets around the grade schools are clogged with SUV moms taking their kids to school (only the lower classes use the free school bus anymore). No-one will convince me that these SUVs are necessary or even desirable for suburbanites except as a fashion accessory. I agree completely. I'm going to go re-read that End of The World Thread, now.
  10. Oh. I thought he was talking about the secret organizations and gathering I was talking about. OOPS As far as the PNAC goes, I've read their 1997 "manifesto". Definitely not my cup of tea.
  11. You tell me... you seem to support their vision of a New America. I haven't a clue what they're about. The only things I know about them is what I picked up on Alex Jones website, a few years ago. It was all very amusing. I'd be interested to read how my views support theirs. I'm guessing that my views (based on my posts, here) are quite different from what you imagine they are.
  12. Who is behind it all? The Trilateral Commission? The Illuminati? The Freemasons? The Rothschilds? Bilderbergs? Ninjas? What does go on at Bohemian Grove, anyway?
  13. Gee like the whole group of PNAC whackos that have taken over this government... they obviously have little use for mainstream american values....just the extreme right that put them in power. A "group of PNAC whackos" have taken over the government of The United States of America? When did this happen?
  14. I guess the same could be said of the people who rant about all our civil rights being taken away and who claim we're unbearable close to becoming a Fascist police state. Explain how that fits? It's about extremeists that aren't representative of mainstream America. BTW Burning witches in the colonies is a myth.
  15. Here you may want to take a look at this....It sure LOOKS and FEELS like fascism. http://oldamericancentury.org/14pts.htm One key part of Propaganda is it has to have some truth to it.
  16. You might consider taking the time to read who said what before posting.
  17. I agree that the US is responsible for the current situation in Iraq, but I also think it's dishonest for people to say things like "I better watch my back for White Christians they tend to be the most blood hungry race there is" and blame our guys for the killing done by insurgents..
  18. I'm guessing most Pushtun's would strongly disagree with you.
  19. Thanks for using the 30K number, instead of that unsupported 655K claim. Among those 30K dead, how many non-combatants were killed by our troups? How many were killed through insurgent violence?
  20. I can't speak for mnealtx, but this whole situation seems like it was a premediated effort to provoke a reaction from authorities.... NOT an innocent misunderstanding.
  21. Andy, Good post. My point was about the fringe hardliners, not the majority of Evolution proponents.
