Christmas hasn't always been about Christ? No kidding. You might want to do a little research to see if Christmas is the same or completely separate from other non-Christian celebrations that happen about the same time. I said from the holiday. Read it and weep Sucka! Right. The CHRISTMAS holiday!!! What's your point?

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998

Money spent on public education is a simple investment in our long term health. From a cost/benefit perspective, it's money well spent. That's not the case with our fighting global warming while China and India do not. -
Corrupted/commercialized or not... it's still about Christmas. Trying to neutralize that key fact (that it's still about Christmas) is weak sauce.

Nice sentiment, even if it is entirely impractical. Your comparisons to torture and education are bad analogies. Torture is a moral issue. Education is a domestic one. Global warming is a physical, international issue. I look forward to Kallend or Bill chiming in, that you made an excellent anolgy... that combating global warming (domestically) is exactly the same as banning torture. -

Lush Rimjob and David Savage do not believe its happening so....... it cant be happening..period.. end of story You left out "And who cares if Clinton got a blowjob?" Does anyone think the United States should take on (costly) anti-pollution measures to combat global warming if China and India don't do the same? Why? -

Interesting links, Rush. One of them led me to this: http://epw.senate.gov/speechitem.cfm?party=rep&id=263759 It's from the official US SENATE COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC WORKS website. The claims are pretty damning. I wonder if any environmental groups have gone about disproving those claims. Here's a sample: -
Dec 17 is "O Sapientia". I bet you haven't heard of that one either No. But around here, we always celebrate National Potato week.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner folks! Don't you people see? This is what it's all about. It's about creating major turmoil throughout the Middle East. Let 'em all kill each other for another two to six years (depending on who wins in '08 ). Then go in an establish Amercun DeMockracy throughout the region. In the meantime, crude is going run up to $200/barrel, so Bush, Cheney and all their oil buddies can get filthy rich.

Why???? Do you think someone there got a blowjob too.... We all know how much blowjobs upset the right wing.... I may be wrong, but it seems like it's almost always the lefties around here who bring up "Clinton got blowjob". Why?

They're quiet for a few days. Then all of a sudden there's an opinion. Gee, I wonder where it came from? http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html Is Air America still on the air?

DEMISE OF THE S.U.V!!! (Language Warning)
NCclimber replied to orribolollie's topic in Speakers Corner
Unless a "global impact" tax was imposed by every country, such a tax would place an unfair burden on those who were taxed. Maybe Bruce, Bob, Lionel, Michael, Diana et al can make a music video (We Are The World - 21st Century Edition) to kick off the effort to have all the countries on our precious planet implement a "global impact" tax on all fuel sales??? Wouldn't it be grand. I wonder how quickly Hugo Chavez would join such an effort? -

There's a federally operated cross near you? Could you provide a link? . It was given in this very forum within the last 6 weeks - do a search and you will find it. What is involved in operating this cross? Are there rides? Is there an elevator in it? -
DEMISE OF THE S.U.V!!! (Language Warning)

There's a federally operated cross near you? Could you provide a link? Regarding the topic of governmental intervention, I think it comes down to moderation. Should the government implement legislation to ensure safe food, air and water? I definitely think so. Should they ban transfats? How about the effort in Belmont, CA to prohibit smoking everywhere except in (detacted) single family homes? Fifteen years ago, smoking was legal just about everywhere. Now they're tring to make it illegal to smoke in a closed apartment. Talk about your slippery slope. Anyone else have territorial Canada geese crapping all over your neighborhood? There is no reason why these pests deserve endangered species status!!! I may be wrong, but I think Kallend made some posts a month or so ago about something along the lines of issuing fines of $500.00 to SUV owners, driving alone in the city and charging all SUV owners something like 9$/gal for gas. It seemed a bit EXTREME. Regarding government control... it's about moderation and the ability to take away those controls. That second part is the real kicker. -
-9 F. = -22 C. Does anyone think people in West Yellowstone are ponder global warming, today? I'm still reeling from that brutal 2006 hurricane season.

What was Christmas about for the early church? They didn't really have it. All traditions have a genesis.

They can consider them their own. They should not, however, consider these thing exclusive to Christianity, or even originally Christian. True, And quite different from Jakee's 1st post.
